Surf Sweets Organic Fruity Bears, 0.5 oz – Buy box of 50 here for $19.99

Taste Score: 8/10

Surf Sweets Fruity Bears are made with organic fruit juice and cane sugar. This kid-friendly snack is free from artificial colors, flavors, high fructose corn syrup, and the top 10 most common food allergens. These fruity bears were delicious. I was surprised to see that they were covered in sugar and that the portion size, just 6 gummies, was really small. However, the kids loved them!

Bob’s Red Mill Bob’s Better Bar, Peanut Butter Jelly & Oats, 1.76 oz – Buy a case of 12 here for $22.99

Taste Score: 10/10

Bob’s Better Bars are nutritional bars that can be enjoyed on the go. They are non-GMO, gluten-free and made with whole grain oats, peanut butter, and organic honey. Wow! I know that the package says peanut butter, jelly, and oats but I didn’t actually expect it to taste just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This has to be the best bar I’ve tasted from SnackSack! Delicious!

Modern Oats Premium Oatmeal Cup, Apple Cinnamon Ginger, 1.76 oz – Buy a box of 12 here for $29

Taste Score: 5/10

Modern Oats delivers oats that are vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO. This flavor uniquely contains apple and cinnamon but with a kick of ginger. This oatmeal is made with all-natural whole grain oats, apples, cane sugar, cinnamon, and ginger. I don’t consider oatmeal a snack so I was surprised to see these oats included in this month’s box. I didn’t much care from them. I couldn’t taste the ginger, the oatmeal was not even slightly sweet and the cinnamon was overwhelming. I did like the big chunks of apple and hearty oats.

Lebby Chickpea Snacks, Mocha, 3.5 oz – Buy a pack of 6 here for $27.99

Taste Score: 5/10

Packed with protein and fiber, this non-GMO chickpea snack marries the flavors of gourmet coffee and creamy milk chocolate for a tasty treat. These mocha chickpea snacks are made with roasted chickpeas, cocoa powder, and coffee. Summer starts early in Georgia! Unfortunately, it looks like these have succumbed to the heat! I tried them anyway and liked the coffee and chocolate flavor on the outside but the chickpea inside was chalky and off-putting.

The Laughing Giraffe Organics Snakaroon, Chocolate, 0.5 0z

Taste Score: 8/10

These best-selling chewy coconut cookies are made with organic cacao nibs and other high-quality ingredients for a rich chocolate taste. I really don’t care for the texture of coconut and have a hard time swallowing coconut treats. Putting my aversion to the side, these are really good. You can tell the ingredients are top-notch. It’s decadent!

Pop Corners Kettle Corn Popped Snack, 0.5 oz – Buy 12 7oz packs here for $30

Taste Score: 9/10

This sweet and salty snack is drizzled with sunflower oil, cane sugar, and just the right amount of sea salt. It’s also good for you with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Plus they’re non-GMO, kosher, vegan and does not contain dairy or nuts. These are really good! It has the right mix of salty and sweet and a nice crunch. My only complaint would be the small portion size. These disappeared in lightning speed!

The Gluten Free Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter, 2.05 oz – Buy a case of 12 here for $28

Taste Score: 6/10

Packed with 12g of plant-based protein this non-GMO, gluten and soy free bar pairs rich dark chocolate with fresh roasted peanuts for a tasty treat. Most bars don’t look visually appealing right out of the package but this bar looks like a thin brownie! Unfortunately, it didn’t taste as good as I hoped it would. I can taste the protein blend that throws off the texture and the tasted for me. I did like how great it smelled and the thick chunks of Virginia peanuts.

Skratch Lab Anytime Energy Bar, Chocolate Chips and Almonds, 1.8 oz – Retail Value $2.65

Taste Score: 9/10

Made with athletes in mind, this energy bar promises to keep you full and fueled and give you a boost anytime you need it. It’s non-GMO, vegan, gluten and dairy free and made with 50% less sugar than traditional energy bars. This slightly sweet bar comes with a mix of chocolate chips, almond pieces and dried cranberries with added cashew butter and coconut nectar for flavor and texture. This bar is amazing! It’s the mix of dried cranberries and chocolate that I love the best. My only complaint would be the stickiness of the bar which I’m more than happy to deal with for the fantastic taste.

Barnana Plantain Chips, Brazilian Barbecue, 1.5 oz –Buy 3 5oz bags here for $14.99

Taste Score: 7/10

Barnana creates delicious, convenient, and flavorful snacks. These nutrient-dense crispy plantain chips are flavored in barbecue spices. I was expecting a mix of sweet from the plantains and spicy from the barbecue spices. However, the spices were so overwhelming that I couldn’t really taste the plantain. The chips tasted more like really thick kettle chips. The spice had the right amount of kick too it – I just wished there was a little bit less.

Wow Baking Company Gluten Free Cookie, Snickerdoodle, 1 oz – Buy full-size cookie here for $1.99

Taste Score: 7/10

These wheat and gluten-free cookies are made in small batches. They’re moist and chewy and packed with the flavor of cinnamon and sugar. I enjoyed this cookie. It was soft and had just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar. I wanted to share with my daughter but couldn’t. Wow Baking Company noted that traces of nuts may be present in the cookie. That’s a bit disappointing. But, the cookie itself, it’s yummy!

Go Organically Fruit Snacks, Mixed Berry and Fruit Medley, (2) 0.8 oz – Buy case of 42 here for $14.99

Taste Score: 8/10

These tasty fruit snacks are made with real fruit, no preservatives, and flavors and colors from natural sources. They are also an excellent source of Vitamins A, C, and E. Fruit Medley has strawberry, apple, orange, peach, and cherry flavors. Mixed Berry has raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, and blueberry flavors. These fruit snacks are good, have a good portion in the pack and the kids enjoyed them. It looks the fruit medley package got too hot. The gummies were stuck together but it didn’t affect the taste too much.

The Snack Brigade Cheesy Cheddar Puffs, 0.74 oz – Buy full-size bag here for $6.99

Taste Score: 8/10

These sharp and tangy cheesy cheddar puffs are baked, gluten-free, have no artificial flavors and 30% less fat than traditional chips. Adult cheese puffs for the win! I love the sharp cheddar taste of these puffs. My kids hated it! “It tastes weird!” is what my daughter said. But, I loved them and I’m not mad at all that I can have a snack that my kids won’t bug me for!

The Verdict: SnackSack is a great box for finding new and healthy snacks for myself and the kids. Of the snacks in this month’s box, the top prize goes to Bob’s Better Bars. That peanut butter and jelly bar is everything! I also really liked the sweet and salty Pop Corners kettle corn chips and the Skratch Lab energy bar with the chocolate and dried cranberries. My least favorite were the chickpea snacks, gluten-free bar, and the oatmeal. They all missed the mark.

Overall, I enjoyed this snack box and appreciate the variety of snacks included. Healthy snacks do exist! In future boxes, I hope to find more full-size items. And, as the weather heats up, I hope my snacks survive the trip to Georgia!

  1. Wow, four items contain oats or oat flour! Considering how many people with celiacs (myself included) have cross reactive issues with oat, that’s a bit surprising.
I always check out these reviews to see if there’s anything new I should seek out.
Oh, I’ve tried wow baking company’s little cookies, chocolate chip (not great) and lemon (super awesome.) I wish the snickerdoodle were stocked in my local grocery store!

    • They have a gluten free option for 24.95. And I can relate! Gluten does a number on my body 😩

      • this was the gluten free version 🙁 I would like to verify that these were gf oats in all those. oats are often stored in wheat silos creating cross contamination issues.

but more than that, did you know coffee has a protein in it similar to gluten? Often it can be a cause of issues too. But not much of that in this box

        • Oh wow, I did not know that! Thx for the info. Luckily I don’t really drink coffee but once in a blue moon I’ll pour a cup. I’ll keep this in mind next time!

    • I love lemon everything, Anne! I’ll have to try them out if I get the opportunity.

  2. Love the taste scores!

    • Thanks for the compliment and comment, Jane. It’s a good way for me to quickly look back and see what snacks I liked the best when it’s time to order groceries.

  3. Great review! What happened to the other format you guys had for your photos though? I sooo appreciated this feature because I spend so much time scrolling on this site.. it legit makes me motion sick and gives me an awful headache sometimes. It was nice to not have to do so much scrolling.

    • Thanks for the feedback, Nina! We’re working on rolling out that format site-wide soon!
