Allure Beauty Box June 2019 Review

Each box comes with a booklet detailing the items included and why the Allure Beauty Editors selected them.

Allure Beauty Box June 2019 beauty subscription box review Allure Beauty Box June 2019 beauty subscription box review

This month arrived with a $20.00 code to use at BaubleBar! I used mine on this summery huggie because it speaks to some sort of asymmetrical summary pirate aesthetic I am vibing with this season. Did I order a few other things too? FINE Yes. I did. I love shiny things!

Allure Beauty Box June 2019 beauty subscription box review Allure Beauty Box June 2019 beauty subscription box review Allure Beauty Box June 2019 beauty subscription box review

Also included was a little booklet with different promo codes for a few cool brands

Let's see what products are inside!

My brows always need a little filling in, so I keep a stash of pencils, gels, and other tools close by. I generally prefer the gel+spoolie sort of combo (this is my fave!) but the pencil is really nice. The medium brown color works really well with my brows and the spoolie is perfect for finishing them off in that sort of Emilia Clarke, wild brow sort of way. I also greatly appreciate the built-in sharpener because I NEVER have one on hand when I need one.

Here is the pencil swatched.

Moroccanoil Treatment, 0.34 fl oz  - Estimated Value $4.40 (Buy a full size 3.4 oz here for $44.00)

I have sampled this product in the "light" formula before and I really loved it! In addition to smelling incredible (v. important!) it made my hair softer and shinier without compromising its great texture. Since my hair is really thick and coarse, I was excited to try this heavier formula. I applied it on dry, frizzy hair and it worked essentially the same, but I think my hair can handle the thicker oil and I preferred it. It has the same great scent and it also works really well on dry elbows and skin.

Floss. Lip Gloss in YUL -  Full Size! Retail Value $16.00

This is a pretty basic clear gloss formula. It is lightweight and non-sticky, making it a perfect topper for a ton of lippies or just a little gloss on its own. No scent here, which is surprising for a gloss.

Context Vitamin C All Day Eye Cream, 15 ml - Full Size! Retail Value $35.00

This lightweight eye cream is a sort of gel/cream hybrid and is instantly cooling. It absorbs really easily and makes an excellent case for a daytime eye cream (something I usually focus more on at night). Perfect for sensitive skin, it is fragrance-free and also paraben, sulfate and phthalate-free.

SGX NYC The-Do-It-All 3-In-1 Dry Texture Spray, 1 oz - Estimated Value $1.08 (buy a full size 6.5 oz here for $6.99)

Finally, our last item is an interesting dry shampoo/hair spray combo. I love dry shampoo and I love extra texture, so this seemed like an obvious winner for me, especially for the price. Hey! I hate falling in love with a massively expensive product. This works nearly identical to dry shampoo, but expect a little more hold and therefore, a little more volume. I flipped my head upside down and sprayed all over, and I had a really great version of a lion's mane after I stood back up and finger styled the wildness back into place. The fragrance is nice and clean, but a little strong.

Verdict: This box has a value of $88.48. Allure Beauty Box usually has quite the value! It is always nice to get full sized items in a sub, and this had 3/6, with the others being generous or deluxe sample sizes. The items were also well rounded, and we received products from makeup to skincare, and hair products. I also have to mention that $20 BaubleBar code that I actually used as soon as I opened the box. It was a really nice treat to get a promo code that was straightforward, valuable and had no real strings attached. This was a pretty good month!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

What perfume? I never received any perfume. I’ve been getting the Allure Beauty Box for about six months. I wasn’t all that impressed with June’s. I’m thinking about cancelling and trying BoxyCharm.

Reply ButtonReply

Katherine

Definitely go to Boxy…..way better for not much more money. I had allure and canceled it because they kept sending products i couldnt use or didnt like. Ex: lip gloss, dry shampoo, lots of eye cream, repeated brow products, etc. I will say They did send me one thing i love and still use, a Laneige water mask.

Im still waiting on my gift with subscription – the oribe creme from MAY- but I’ve already received and been charged for the May and June box – every time I call about the Oribe they have a different answer – some times they say its shipped then 2 weeks later they say they are waiting to receive the product and it really never shipped . The same thing happened in Nov with the sunday riley product which is why I cancelled then and let myself be suckered into it again with the oribe – this company is a scam – they offer products as an incentive and then force you to buy and older box to get it and never ship the incentive product. MSA – why keep posting their offers when this happens all the time?

I just found out today that I won’t be getting g my June allure box until the middle of July… this is crazy… I dont get why it’s so late… I hope I get it sooner because I really wanted to try the Moroccan oil and the floss gloss.. I’m sad.. at least my July box will be on time next month…

Reply ButtonReply

Raven

I received mine today -_-

NYAmicas

I am so happy I resubscribed with Allure. I had to cancel 2 years ago when the value went drastically and disappointingly down but they rebounded wonderfully. Hats off to them and i pray they keep it up.

Now Im sad I lost the gloss after a night on the town my first day of receiving it. It did pack a nice punch. smh.

AmyM

I wasn’t exited about this box based on spoilers, but now that I have it I’m really enjoying everything. I haven’t tried the brow pencil or oil yet, but everything else is great for me so far.

Sharon Bohannon

Same here. After receiving it I was really surprised that everything was used and liked it all. Good job Allure!

I’m not getting any emails anymore from MSA except for promos. Nothing that has to do with comments or any communications here… I have even noticed that some negative comments about this sub, negative comments about the MSA sight, etc., either do not post at all and some are just now gone. I’m just seeing if I will on this one.

Happy shout out to Allure Beauty Box for the fab gift of the Badgley Mischka spray eau de parfum! I got mine yesterday and it’s the full 100 ml. size spray. $115 at Dillard’s.

They have really delivered the gifts promised over the years when I’ve signed up for an offer. I like the complex floral/ organic elements scent of this fragrance, so added bonus. 🙂

I received my perfume in a separate mailing from Allure about 2 weeks ago. I really wanted it for the bottle because it’s my favorite color and it did not disappoint in any way once I had it in my hand. The scent is very lovely and the bottle is absolutely gorgeous. I cannot believe I actually got it because I had to go through a lot because they had changed my subscription from a gift subscription to a regular one and I had to call several times to get them to fix it. I did speak with a supervisor a couple of times and I guess the last one worked it out for me so thanks Allure!

Ania

I agree with you and also want to say “Thank you, Allure”! I also got my perfume few days ago 🙂 it will be a perfect gift for my mom, she loves perfume and goes through them very quickly.

Tanya M

Good box in my IMO. I can’t believe I have three full size eye creams unopened!!! Careful what you wish for as I was lamenting the lack of these. I’ve cut back on subs and still approaching overload … yikes …. hoping Allure September is going to be a pass. Lol

Noelle L

I received June’s box and I will def use everything. Eyebrow pencil has it all…! spoolie and sharpener.and good color for me…..Also, I received the perfume from May’s offer in separate mailing. Niiiiice….Allure continues to be one of my favorite subs…. 🙂

I’m surprised the reviewer said there was no scent to the lip gloss. I cracked mine open and got the double whammy of cake and coconut. Immediate pitch.

Other than that, not exceptional.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hmm, that is odd because mine just smells like “makeup” smells, but not fragranced. I do spend most of my day smelling stuff though, so maybe my nose was on overload at that point?

Reply ButtonReply

LisaFalana

Yeah. Im getting cake.

Reply ButtonReply

Whitney Earl

I thought the very same thing. Mine has the same yummy scent.

Reply ButtonReply

SB

Same! Mine is definitely not unscented.

JM

The Context vitamin C eye cream in my box has the ascorbic acid listed 2nd from the bottom of the list of ingredients. This means I got a tube of nothing. When compared to the actual website, the ingredients are different and in different order. The main ingredients that are supposed to improve your skin are towards the top half on the list. I think we all got inferior products. Also labeled not for sale. I’m guessing I know why. Mine went in the garbage. It’s obviously useless. I’m not impressed with Allure at the moment. Do they think we don’t look at the ingredients of the items we are putting on our skin??

Reply ButtonReply

Diana

It’s labeled not for sale because it’s a sample/promotion or to be used in a beauty box, not because it shouldn’t be sold or is worthless. For someone who reads the ingredients so carefully, should understand that this is a common term used. Check with the manufacturer to get the accurate breakdown and composition of any product, if there are listed discrepancies, before assuming.

Reply ButtonReply

JM

Wow! I thought I was being helpful by letting others know that we received an inferior product after doing my research with the actual manufacturer. All you are doing is being somewhat of a bully. No wonder why I have never involved myself in any social media platforms. I now understand why I decided to stay of the grid. I will be removing myself from this platform as I see it is no different than all the rest of any social website that just bashes others. Thank you and have a nice day.

LR

Why would you throw them out? You could always donate them to less fortunate people. Women’s domestic shelters are always looking for new products.

Reply ButtonReply

Jane

That really wasn’t her point at all you know. It’s funny how some people ignore all the main points and get stuck on one random sentence.

Nikki

I totally know what you are saying. I try to do the same. But I’m not sure what you do when the product doesn’t have the right active ingredients. It won’t work for anyone. Why give it to someone when, they’re wasteful for putting out a product on a sub box that isn’t useful. But I always try to give my unwanted products away. My friends and family love it. It’s fun.

NYAmicas

Loved my box, they even sent some additional things as a thank you which I gave to my Mom. I am quite happy with Allure, for $15 I cannot complain.

sed_nuf

The bauble bar code wont work if you v bought something from them before. Which I have using a previous Allure code. Kinda pointless to send it to people who have been subscribed for a while.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

That’s what I thought, too, but someone below suggested signing up with a different email. 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Brooke

I subscribed for the May box. In June I received a box, but it was the June box. Then I received an automated email saying my May box was on the way.

I’ll take a free June box, no complaints here, but it’s just not what I was expecting :-/

Christine Martinez

Me too! but I think I got charged for both boxes

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

Same here! So odd and I’m wondering when I’ll get my May box plus my free gift…

Reply ButtonReply

Jayne

I got a bonus bag in my box! It had a small Purity and a Hey Honey peel in it. Now I feel bad because I was going to cancel next month!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

I got no coupon, 2 texture sprays, no water in a can and no extra goodies. And the award for inconsistency goes to…Allure!😂 It’s all good, I’m cancelling anyways and now I don’t even have to worry about feeling bad. 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

I received this too, but I didn’t get the Bauble Bar coupon. I also didn’t get the Allure editor booklet. I was happy for the little bonus bag, though! All stuff I can use for sure.

Reply ButtonReply

Mariek

Received the S.R oil in this box and I’m pretty pleased with all the products. Is it just me or has their baggies gotten better? Love the green one for this month and it’s not ripped!!

I’ve never had an issue with Allure CS and shipping has always been fast for me. Plus I’ve don’t think they’ve gone downhill.

Can someone with amazon tell me if everything was the same here? I want another but I wanna make sure first. Thanks.

Reply ButtonReply

Yes I got the same things in my Amazon allure as the regular allure.

I received my Amazon box today, it is the same as this one. I am cancelled directly through Allure at this time.

Has anybody ever had issues with someone on the swap page? Like, they submitted a swap request or they did and everything seems ok but then they start asking you to send them extras. Like EXTRA EXTRAS!!! Anything you have… Over and over and over… ??? I’ve had this happen twice but the last one is pretty concerning to me at this point as the swap had been agreed to prior to all of that, so now the swapper has my address.

Reply ButtonReply

Nina

I’m
Stiiiiiiilllll waiting to be accepted on the swap site 😞

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

I waited 3 months

Leslie

Me three!

Dawn

I just sold (essentially gave away) LOTS of these products on ebay. It works out better for me if I don’t have to worry about disappointing someone.

Sabrina

Me too.

colleen

I have never had that happen to me. Send a cancellation request. If the swapper does not agree to that, ask for help on the swap site. There is a moderator. You can forward the conversation to her. As long as nothing has been shipped on either end, you can request to cancel.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

I did send an email to MSA about it and was pretty specific about the reasons I was so concerned at this point. I’m a pretty open person to a certain extent. I don’t mind a little communication or friendly conversation. But, it reaches a point of being TMI, pushy and a bit invasive. It’s her reason behind the donations, the number of times it’s mentioned and pushyness to send donations. I honestly don’t actually expect a reply from Liz or anybody else from MSA. I did not get a response when I emailed them about a swap thief, so I’m not banking on a response about this matter either.

Kristin

Liz can you assist/advise her?

Reply ButtonReply

Mandi

Oh wow this is weird, report them to msa by email just so they know what’s going on, even if they haven’t swaplifted yet they should be on their radar. Does this person have a lot of swaps in their past? If not and they’re new just wait for them to ship first, you don’t have to send any extras that’s why they’re extras, if they wanted it they should have picked it for swap. Just tell them you prefer equal swaps and don’t send things you have up. Good luck.

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

I have actually posted a couple of replies here… I’m not getting emails about comments and some of mine are not showing up. It was 3 days of conversations back & forth. I’m not always set on the retail value of some items. Like the Anastasia lippy, that can go for $5 as far as I’m concerned. We both thought the swap was fair. In truth, I’m about getting rid of what I don’t want and getting somethings that I do want. If it’s something heavy, I stick close to the retail value because of shipping. I don’t list sheet masks, foil packets, etc., that way, I have those things to send as extras. I do look through my fellow swappers followed items in hopes of finding a match. If no, I just try to send something close enough. I’ve even used greeting cards as extras because that’s all I had.
The swapper in question was asking for absolutely anything, personal hygiene, feminine hygiene, socks, anything at all for her to donate. I responded that I was l was low on those items as I too donate… Response, Thanks, as a victim myself…. so if you could possibly purchase… and ship with…
I was very busy, so I didn’t think to cancel right then and there. Before I could actually cancel the swap, she had already accepted it and now has my full name and address.
I did go in and cancel the swap and clicked on ‘ignore user’., but that doesn’t change the fact that she has my information and in this day and age, it makes me feel super uneasy.

Flora

I also have never actually had someone request extras, usually I just stalk their followed listings and send them extras that I feel appropriate for the RV of the swap. I’ve had swaps where I received generous extras and I have also had swaps with no extras (which is OK for me too since I’m on overload). Coming out and requesting extras is just rude IMHO. You are only on the hook for the agreed upon items and not obligated to send extras. Extras are called extras for a reason and is just someone being nice/generous. Feel free to swap with me (shameless plug), I won’t request extras 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Thank you ladies. I did cancel the swap and then clicked on ‘ignore user’. But even after that, the items I had listed did not return to my listings, I had to re-add them. This swapper was fine with the swap. What she wanted was “donations”. ANYTHING!!! Please! Not that the basic hygiene items including feminine hygiene products were for her, she wants me to send her a grocery cart full of donations or foil packets will do too. Just ANYTHING you have for these poor people… I responded that I was low on those types of items because I too… and had just dropped off donations. Swappers response, as a victim myself, I appreciate that and would appreciate you even more if you would… this went on for 3 days. Truth be told, I have teenagers and human trafficking is very real and does happen in my area. So, the fact that that’s what the swapper was talking about, yes, it concerns me that someone I find super invasive and creepy now has my full name and address. I don’t know how to let MSA know about this. I have let the household know that something creeped me out.
When I do swap, I look through my fellow swappers followed items to try and find an extra that matches. Sometimes it works, sometimes I just have to give something close enough.
I actually appreciate good communication with a swapper but this was over the top!

Melissa

I have not encountered this specific problem on the swap page, and it is troubling that someone would do that. Sounds like someone is trying to get everything she can from you, and that seems like the type who will eventually end up swaplifting someone. I’m not sure what she would do with your address, though….. Can you send her a cancellation request? Just tell her that she is making you uncomfortable? Is she claiming that there is a discrepancy between the value of the items you are swapping to each other?

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn

Sorry, I’m not getting any email notifications from MSA… I did cancel the swap but not before she got access to my address… It’s not a discrepancy, she wants donations so she can donate them. I already do that, thank you. But it went on and on…

Dawna

May was the 1st time I ever skipped. I will be skipping July too, maybe August… Got this box for the Moroccan oil and the Context eye cream. I have fallen in love with hanalie lip treatment so, that’s my everyday, don’t want sticky lips anymore, so stocking stuffer. The eyebrow pencil is too light for anyone I know, donating that. There is absolutely no way I would actually buy this water but I did find a use for it. It’s in my kayak in case I forget my insulated water bottle that spritzes. I put on ice. 😂

Reply ButtonReply

Barbara

I received my box(es) earlier and really liked this month.I thought the products were sensible for the hot summer we are experiencing and they all were items I have been actively using.

I love Allure (usually), but their Customer Service and shipping is awful. I have begun ordering through AMAZON when I want more than my 2 boxes; that provides an easy way to cancel or add…AND you receive it usually tween 6-9 from purchase date.

The gloss is cute packaging but it is made with mineral oil. This is the second ingredient. Bummer

Reply ButtonReply

SB

What’s wrong with mineral oil?

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

Nothing, really. It’s an occlusive emollient which means it moisturizes by providing a barrier to moisture loss. Similar to many (but not all) oils. A product with mineral oil can be very effective in keeping your skin moisturized longer but most likely should be used as a last step since once it’s on, an additional product is unlikely to penetrate and will just pill. As opposed to a humectant moisturizer which attracts water and holds it in your skin (like hyaluronic acid). Both types are good and applied in the right order mean fine lines plump up and are less noticeable. Which is a win for me!

TNTriathlete

Mineral oil (unlike nut oils for example) just sits on top of the skin and never absorbs. It’s used instead because it’s cheap.

Christa

I got the same box and i amd happy with it

This box is just sad. I skipped this one and July. August doesn’t look too good either.
