Sunday Riley Subscription Box

Sunday Riley now has a quarterly lifestyle subscription box curated by the editor’s of their blog, The Sunday Edit. With each box, there’s a new theme and their third one is the Travel Edition! I was super obsessed with the last Love Edition box, so I was so excited to see the spoilers for this one! They tend to include popular and interesting brands that I’ve been excited about trying so this is the perfect box for someone who wants to explore what’s new! They always include Sunday Riley products and this time there are FOUR!

Sunday Riley Travel Edition Subscription Box Review

Not all of this month’s items fit in the exclusively designed Travel Edition box, so it shipped in a larger plain brown box to accommodate the pillow.

This quarter came with a small booklet that details all of the included items.

Sunday Riley products with bag

This time there are FOUR Sunday Riley products in the box which come in a really pretty metallic blue zipper pouch.

You’ll find an info card that talks about each product.

Sunday Riley Zip Pouch

This is a roomy little pouch that measures roughly 7 x 3 x 3.5 inches and fits all of the TSA-friendly sizes with plenty of room to spare. It’s well crafted and I just love the metallic blue finish.

Ceramic Slip Cleanser, 3x 0.03 oz packettes – Buy a full-size 5 oz tube for $35.00

The first Sunday Riley product included this time is 3 sample packs of their Ceramic Slip Cleanser. I’ve been wanting to try this one since I’ve seen it popping up in several subscription boxes. I didn’t think there was enough product in the packet, but it was actually the perfect amount once I squeezed it into my palm. It doesn’t have a very strong scent but I picked up on the French Green Clay. “Slip” is a great word for this one since it really glides along the face while removing all the nasty dirt and makeup from the day. This left my skin feeling squeaky clean and ready for the rest of my routine. I wish there was a larger size included.

Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment, 8 ml – Estimated Retail Value $28.00 (Buy a 30 ml bottle for $105.00)

I think this is my favorite of the offerings in this box! It has a super uplifting lemongrass scent (my fave!) and honestly really feels like it’s prepping my face for the rest of my routine. One pump of this is enough to cover my face after cleansing and since it’s a thinner milky liquid, it gets quickly absorbed to leave my skin feeling alert and ready for the day.

Sunday Riley Auto Correct back of Sunday Riley Auto Correct Sunday Riley Auto Correct with cap off Sunday Riley Auto Correct swatch

Auto Correct Brightening and De-Puffing Eye Contour Cream, 15 ml (full size!) – Retail Value $65.00

I’m not the biggest user of eye creams for some strange reason, but this one does immediately brighten once I dab it with a ring finger under my eyes. I’ve been using it both at night and in the morning after cleansing and using Good Genes but before their Tidal gel-cream. I’m hoping to see more long-lasting effects on my under eye circles but it’s too early to tell. The scent is fantastic and when I couldn’t place it, I went to Megan and Rachel who both mentioned chamomile. Megan happened to know that Roman Chamomile is in a similar realm with Blue Tansy which I simply adore the scent of. Cased solved: this contains Roman Chamomile which seemingly has a very similar scent. All in all- this has an enchanting scent which is very calming and lovely and is visibly glowing when pumped out. I’ll definitely be rotating this into my routine.

Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, 15 g – Retail Value $22.00 (or Buy 50 ml here for $65.00)

This product is a wonderful soothing water cream that packs the skin with moisture. I’ve been using this last in my new Sunday Riley routine and it makes my skin feel soft and hydrated while giving it a super dewy look. It reminds me a lot of Belif’s Aqua Bomb so if you like that, I think you’ll love this one too. It has a refreshing cucumber smell to it and feels really cooling and wonderful going on.

The Globetrotter’s Handbook Travel Journal – Listed Retail Value $15.00

At first, I thought this was sort of a bummer item but it’s actually quite cute! It has a ton of great travel trips, spotlights on beauty spots in some major cities, a travel agenda, space to journal, photo tips, and even some postcards that you can pop out and mail! The whole book (which is well-designed and quality printed) was written by The Sunday Edit writers who sound like they know a thing or two about travel. This would be the perfect adult activity book while on a plane if you want some time away from your laptop and smartphone screens.

Savvy Sleepers Travel Satin Pillow Case – Listed Value $36.00 (Full size available here)

As far as I can tell, this is a custom travel sized pillowcase for the Sunday Riley box by Savvy Sleepers. Satin pillowcases have been popping up in beauty boxes for a while now so I was excited to finally get one here since I have crazy hair flyaways (from breakage) and I’ve heard this should help. In addition to helping hair (or if you have lash extensions), this pillowcase should also help prevent face creases that can turn into wrinkles. I’m all for added luxury while I sleep since it’s the most important part of any beauty routine. What I also learned is that satin is NOT a fabric composition, but rather a weave. I HAD NO IDEA. This 100% polyester pillowcase is machine washable even though it delivers a soft and shiny rest.

United Airlines Cooling Gel Travel Pillow – Retail Value $27.99

This little travel pillow is given exclusively to United Polaris Business Class passengers and WOW is it nice! Not only is it memory foam, but it also has cooling gel on one side and let me tell you- it really makes a difference. I am all about high-class pillows and recently considered buying an $80 one I saw an Instagram ad for, so you know I am very serious. This baby is 14 x 11 inches which makes it perfect to pop behind your head whether you’re in business class or coach. Since I have no flights planned in the near future, I used this in bed the other night in tandem with my full-size memory foam pillow and must have zonked out immediately because I woke up at 7:30 am with my contact lenses still in. All I remember was thinking “wow – this pillow IS so cooling!” and that was that.

Harry Josh Pro Tools Premium Oval Brush – Retail Value $50.00

As soon as I saw the spoilers for this brush I was intrigued by the claim that boar’s hair bristles can help those of us with super fine hair. After going down a rabbit hole that showed me $200 hair brushes, I came back to the earth’s surface excited for the arrival of this more reasonably priced (although still high for a gal like me) one. I love the bright minty color first and foremost, and this full-size brush also has a really nice weight to it. I blowdry my hair every time I wash it, so I had previously been using a round brush in hopes to give me some volume while I did so, but now I’m learning that the bristles were all wrong. This particular brush has a mix of nylon and natural boar hair bristles and can be used on both wet and dry hair. Once I part my wet hair with a wide tooth comb, I take this through my wet hair before then blow drying it. It pulls through my hair so much more easily than my previous brush with A LOT less breakage which of course causes all the frizzy flyaways I have going on. After almost a week of using this gal, I am a fancy hairbrush convert!

Sand Cloud Wanderlust Towel – Retail Value $44.00

As soon as I saw this towel, I thought of my roommate because he went through a phase recently when he tie-dyed almost every shirt he owns with bleach. This towel is definitely more his style than mine (which is all black everything) so I’ll be passing it on to him but not before admiring its quality. It’s really lightweight and you can tell it was made with care. It uses 100% Turkish cotton and 10% of the profits go to save marine life. It’s quite a large towel at 38 x 64 inches so it’s great for picnics on grassy knolls and the beach alike. Pittsburgh doesn’t offer much in the way of beaches, but we do have some beautiful parks that this could be utilized at!

I was interested to give this a go but after just one night of trying it, remembered that melatonin doesn’t do it for me. I ended up feeling a little restless somehow after taking this which has happened to me in the past. In addition to the melatonin, this supplement has B6 (which they site as helpful for normal sleep patterns) and Calcium. It didn’t work out for me, but I’m a pretty good sleeper on my own so I’ll pass this to a friend who isn’t so lucky.

KREAFUNK aGo Speaker in Dusty Pink – Retail Value $48.00

Portable Bluetooth speakers have come a long way in the last few years. This one is only 3.25 inches in diameter but provides a pretty balanced sound and is worlds better than the laptop I work on. The bass is reasonably good for its size so it’s not too treble-y and doesn’t sound like a tin can. It’s the size of a hockey puck and this particular one comes in a nice dusty pink color with metallic pink grill. There’s also a brown leather loop so you can carry it around or hang it from somewhere with ease. It’s super simple to pair with my smartphone and has a port to recharge (with accompanying cord), a single power button, and two volume buttons that are all on the side of the cute and compact speaker. My favorite place for a speaker like this is in the bathroom so that I can rock out while I shower, but it’s a great companion for a small get together outside in the backyard where you may want some background music or in a room where you may not want a full stereo set up (like your office).

Calpak Power Luggage Tag in Shimmer Pink – Retail Value $32.00

The last item included is essential for anyone traveling in this day and age. I happen to have a power pack built into my suitcase, but that one is quite heavy to carry around while wandering somewhere like NYC, so this luggage tag with a removable battery pack is perfect. It’s lightweight but won’t take up any coveted space in your suitcase since it hides within a metallic pink faux leather tag that will dangle from the handle. It comes with a cord to charge it but what’s impressive to me is that it comes with an adapter so I can use the same cord to plug it into my iPhone when it’s needed. I haven’t had the chance to test this out when my phone is practically dead without a charging cord in sight, but I like having a lightweight backup I can toss in my back when that problem arises!

Verdict: Once again, Sunday Riley has impressed me with their curation for the Travel Edition. While I think that some of the items are a little commonplace in lifestyle subscription boxes, they chose brands that are high quality which is really important. They hit a myriad of different key travel items but many can be used in town as well. I’m probably the most geeked on the pillow since I loooove memory foam so I can’t wait to bring it along on my next trip and the brush has been a revelation for me. They did great with the Sunday Riley products as well in my opinion and I’m happy I got a full-size item! While they value this total box at $385, I got something a little closer to $377.99 (which is w/o the value of the Sunday Riley Pouch and Ceramic Slip samples) which is still pretty amazing if you ask me.

  1. Has anyone tried using the Sand Cloud discount code from this box? The card says it’s 40% off but when I tried using it was only 25% off my order.
Man, I miss the forum for topics like this.

  2. I thought the travel box was considered the summer box, but I got an email a couple of days ago asking me to choose the shade of self-tanner I wanted for a box to be released on July 9th. I emailed CS to inquire and they said, “Our next box being released in July is our Summer Box! You may have received an email to choose your Tan Luxe self tanning color. Included in this box are a few Summer essentials. Please stay tuned for more information on the Summer Box! ” This means it’s only two months in between their boxes. I’m looking forward to seeing what else is in there!

    • I got this email too. I even forwarded it to @Liz Cadman, but it’s still not posted.

  3. I’m seeing the option to purchase this box, but not the option to subscribe. Anyone know how I can subscribe so boxes are auto-shipped at the discounted rate?

    • There’s a radio button right below the one time purchase option, it’s not there when you first go to the page, but strangely shows up after the page refreshes itself.

  4. After thinking about it for a few weeks, I finally ordered this and I’m so happy I did. In nearly 5 years of getting sub boxes, this is easily one of the best I’ve received. With the exception of the melatonin, I will use every item – and not just for travel. Everything is super high quality, nicely presented and nothing has inflated RV. The towel is gorgeous; I already used the coupon code to buy the extra-large version of the towel. If you’re on the fence about this, don’t hesitate. It’s worth it.

  5. I want this so bad!!! I wish I could spend this money. It’s already spent on many beauty boxes!

    • I love this box and have also received their wellness box. Sunday Riley is a game changer for the Beauty Subscription box industry. Their curation is great and the quality of the products can’t be beat…..they are going to be the up and comer.

      • Totally agree! This is an amazing collection of items! All of them are high quality and really fit the theme. If I could only choose one subscription box, I think this would be it.

  6. So excited to get this box. I’m going on a trip in June and I’ll use every item in the box. I’ve been wanting to try the eye cream which retails for $65 so with the 10 percent off it’s like I got all the extra stuff for $20. Great value.

  7. So excited to get this box. I’m going on a trip in June and I’ll use every item in the box. I’ve been wanting to try the eye cream which retails for $65 so with the 10 percent off it’s like I got all the extra stuff for $20.

  8. I’ve been subbing to various boxes for years and this is, hands down, the best box I’ve ever gotten. The curation is wonderful from the theme to the color scheme, there are unusual and high quality items and everything is just so useful. I really want another even though I don’t need it. Oh, and to add my two cents about the brush- it is amazing. I use it to blow out my hair and it’s not scratchy to me at all.

    • I agree! I just received my box today, and as I was going through it, I was thinking the same – of all the quarterly boxes I receive, this is by far the best one! Sunday Riley is my favorite skin care line and all the items are practical and useful; this was the perfect box for me.

  9. I have been watching this box and I think I may cancel my PopSugar box for this one. One question with the coupon is it 10% off your first box or your subscription? Fabulous review!

  10. I’m sure I’m just missing it, but what is the coupon? I can’t find it on the post.

    • Hi Sandy! If you sign up for the Sunday Riley email list, they’ll send you the code!

      • Thank you!

  11. I bought this box and received it 2 days later. It’s the best box I’ve ever received. All the products are high quality and useable. I really wanted the eye cream but the towel and pillow are amazing too. I will probably gift the speaker. It’s in a very nice wooden box.

    • that’s awesome! looks like a fantastic box, had no clue until now they sent non- skin care!

    • I loooooove the little box!!

  12. Can anyone tell me where this box ships from? Trying to figure out if this will come in a week before my trip.

    • It ships from Houston, TX. I ordered on Friday, 5/10/19 and it is being shipped via FedEx with an expected delivery date of Friday, 5/17/19 to Seattle, WA. Hope that helps!

  13. Sunday Riley’s subscription box is AMAZING! Best lifestyle/wellness boxes hands down. They might be expensive, but the items are all high quality and worth every cent.

My box was delivered yesterday and I’m totally in love with it. Unfortunately, the charging cords for the luggage tag weren’t in the package or anywhere in the entire box. There was an empty slot in the plastic package for it though. I emailed Sunday Riley about it yesterday, but still haven’t back at all. I’m not sure what to do with it, I can’t charge it and can’t charge anything with it without the connecty cords. I really hope that I hear back from them otherwise this kinda useless.

    • I’d assume it’s just a mini usb cable, the same kind used for all Android phones, Amazon devices, etc, so if you don’t have one lying around already any drugstore should sell a cheap version.

    • Walmart sells short cords that fit iphones and/or androids for like $4 🙂

  14. Great review ~ Had to have…… it’s a great box!!! This may be my new lifestyle box, bringing the fun back 🙂 …..wonderful curation!! I had a question about the sub and customer service was super responsive….. always a good sign….. the addiction is REAL!!!

    • Me Too! This box is amazing! I just cancelled FFF and signed up. Their past boxes look perfect too.

      • I think I’m going to do the same! The summer box is my last in my annual membership, and I know this is double the price but based on their 3 boxes so far, I wouldn’t give anything away. Plus everything seems to be really high quality.

        • Let’s face it, the add-ons for FFF are more exciting than the box items. I’ve always ended up spending at least $120 for the box with all my add-ons. Now that I know most of those add-ons can be bought at TJ Maxx, I’m happy for higher end products in this box.

          • Seriously!! I have FFF annual too and while I love to be able to customize so much of my box into usable things, I ALWAYS spends over $100 with add-ons! They know how to get us!

  15. Thank you for such a detailed review on this sub box! Based on your reviews, I ordered it!

  16. Ugh I’ve been watching this box for a while now and it’s so good. I keep coming back to this review to decide if I need it or not…but I think I do!

Does anyone know if I sign up for the sub am I able to skip a box if I don’t like the spoilers? Do I have to pay all up front?

    • Hey Jenny!

It doesn’t look like you are able to skip months as of right now, but you’d be able to cancel as long as it’s 48 hours before they ship. I’m not sure if spoilers will consistently come out with enough time, but for this shipment, we posted them 5 days before it was available to purchase (though I’m not sure when subscribers’ boxes shipped out).
As far as payment: I found this in their FAQ: “When you sign up for Subscribe to Save on any Sunday Riley product you can choose to be billed on a 30, 60 or 90-day schedule.”
If you’re worried about committing, you can always just purchase each box on its own for $95 (and the first time you do you can get 10% off with our code).

      • Since you can cancel at any time , it makes more sense to subscribe and see how the spoilers look. If they don’t come out in time, go ahead and cancel and re-subscribe if you like the box. As long as there isn’t a wait list, that works.

  17. Too Good to Pass Up – So had to buy it for my Jet Setting, Sunday Riley loving, Esthetician daughter! I haven’t even told her it’s coming yet! I might just want to surprise her!

    • That is so sweet of you, Jana! Sounds perfect for her!

  18. Thanks for the terrific review, Marne. I read it yesterday, and was so tempted to buy it on the spot, but decided to restrain myself and sleep on it. This box has so many great items, I just had to get it – I can’t wait!!! Thanks again for such a detailed review!

    • I did the same thing! Ordered this afternoon, got tracking and it’ll be here Saturday! So excited!!!

  19. Totally only got halfway through the review before I jumped to the site and bought it lol. I did come back and finish the review though and was surprised at the luggage tag, excited to stick that on my bag or purse as my spare battery pack is heavy.
Thank you Marne for helping me spend money hahahahahah! 😉 MSA always helps me empty my wallet!

    • You know we are always here to help! Haha. 😉

  20. The first two boxes didn’t impress me but I think they did a nice job with this one. Marne, your review was fabulous. I loved all the pictures and honestly I think your thorough review put me over the edge on this box and I just ordered.

    Your reviews always rock!

    • Shucks. Thanks, Mary! Hope you love it as much as I do!

  21. Couldn’t resist. I will use everything in this box!! And I travel rather frequently.

  22. Marne, I love all the photos! Thanks for including them. V helpful! Great review!

    • My pleasure, Marie! Thank you!

  23. I’m swapping a lot of this box. I mainly wanted the towel and eye cream. I posted the things I won’t use and would love to trade for the Sunday Riley retinol full size or Luna oil. ❤️

  24. I’ll be swapping the journal, good genes, speaker, charger and moisturizer if anyone wants these items let me know. Possible that I’ll add the pillow and case. Thanks

    • Jennifer- I’m interested in the pillow and case!

    • If you like any of my items (I dont have them listed on here yet) I’m still figuring out the swap page. I’m really wanting the pillow, the case, the speaker, the brush and the towel. I have things for swap such as: Makeup brushes, needles no more dr brandt and estee Lauder lipstick. And a few other items. Find me on Facebook: alasha hildebrand

  25. When will this box be available?
    TYIA♡

    • It’s available now!

  26. OH gosh!! This is a really good box. Even though I don’t travel much I feel like I’d use everything at one time or another. Like that pillow I’d use on my “comfy chair” where I fall asleep most nights. And I’ve been wanting a portable speaker. So tempted.

  27. Slip is also a ceramic term for a liquid mixture of clay, usually water and clay slurry. 🙂

    • Oooh- very cool!

  28. This is one of the best lifestyle boxes out there now, but I will pass on it. I already have too much skincare, Bluetooth speakers, iPhone batteries, brushes, etc. I would like to swap for the pillow and pillow case to give to my sister who travels a lot.

  29. Do not waste your money on that hair brush, as it is the WORST brush that I have ever used. Save up and buy a pure boar bristle Mason Pearson brush (yes, they are expensive ~$150 to $200, but you will LOVE how they feel and last you about 30 years (yes, 30 years of utterly pampered hair and scalp). My brush is hitting the skid after constant use for 35 years, and I will not hesitate to replace it so that I have one until I am 85.

    • I think it really depends on your hair. I have a really expensive boar bristle round brush that I received as a gift 20 years ago and it’s amazing; however it’s also cost-prohibitive to purchase something like that for many people.

I’m excited to try the brush in this box. It’s not the reason I made the purchase, but I’m eager to try it out. 🙂

      • I agree it depends on your hair. Pure boar bristle brushes do not work with my hair type, they end up making me frizzy which is the opposite of what they claim.

      • I absolutely love this brush. It is amazing and a step up from the drugstore brushes I typically buy. I can’t afford a $200 brush either.

  30. Mines arriving on my Birthday! I’m so excited.

    • Woo-hoo!! Happy Birthday, Linda!!

  31. Thank you so much for all the pictures. I love knowing exactly what I’m getting and I am definitely ordering this! The curation is as fabulous as the products.

    • You’re very welcome!

  32. I don’t think I can resist this

  33. Was there some kind of office bet at MSA on how many pics someone could get in to a review? I counted over ninety of them. I stopped reading the review just to count how many of pics there were.

    • 😂 I thought there seemed like a lot of photos going through the review and after reading this I’m not surprised there’s over 90 haha

    • Oh no, too many? 😬I went a little wild with the photos but there ARE 13 items plus the booklets. Maybe I’ll restrain myself more in the future…

      • I like the photos of the products and the booklets- they give a good idea what to expect, especially with a box that includes a lot of items 😊

        • Me too! I really enjoyed the review and all of the pictures, as they show all the details of each item! I almost got the Love box and have a bit of fomo now that it’s gone. I’m seriously thinking about getting this one

  34. If anyone wants to swap the pillow case / pillow and towel i would love them. Just click on my name

  35. It says the Love box is sold out! 🙁

    • Oh no! It must have sold out or they took it off being for sale once the new one launched. I’ve updated the review! Thanks for catching, Lori!

  36. Same discount for one time vs. subscription? That’s weird. You think they’d want to encourage subscriptions especially for a new one..?

That being said, I love that blog! I actually read the Sunday Edit emails, unlike a similar email which just has superficial nonsense in it. Hehe.

  37. Does anyone know how long these usually stay in stock? Wanting to buy it, but should probably wait until I get paid next week. Darn adulting.

    • Up until yesterday you could still get the previous box so I would think you have a pretty good chance. Either they’re not well known yet or they know how to stock inventory lol.

      • Awesome, thanks!

      • But they did sell out and restock, fyi.
