Sooni Pouch April 2019 Review
Here is the info sheet for the box.
On the back is a note that my box was packed by Sara. There was a lot of overlap between the Sooni Mini Pouch and the Sooni Pouch this month. First up, let’s look at all of the items that came in both boxes:
Foodaholic Snail Soothing Gel, 300 mL – Retail Value $13.21
I love me some snail, but I was a little perplexed when I saw this massive container of snail soothing gel – I’ve only ever seen Aloe Vera in this type of product before. This can be used on both your face and body to provide soothing moisture, and the texture is very similar to aloe. With an increased risk of sunburns coming with the warmer months (even though I wear sunscreen every day), I will be sticking this in the fridge to provide comfort when my skin needs it.
This cleanser is made with tea tree, eucalyptus, and rosemary oil to provide an effective cleanse. I found this to be gentle, and even though there are a lot of plant oils in this cleanser there was only a light herbal scent that was refreshing.
Dewytree 7 Cut Cell Essence
This essence is made from birch sap to add a hydrating and nourishing layer to your skin (which in turn will make your serums and treatments more effective!). I liked this absorbed with no residue, and it definitely is moisturizing.
This moisturizer had a great texture that I enjoyed dipping into, and it was rich without being heavy. It really sank into my skin quickly and left it feeling nourished. I would describe the formula as a creamy gel.
This sample has two foil packets of shampoo, and I appreciate that the samples can be separated for ease of travel. I was happy with how this cleansed my hair, and it didn’t leave it stripped of moisture. I try to refrain from shampooing my hair when I travel, but the other sample is going in my travel bag just in case.
A’Pieu Icing Sweet Bar Watermelon Mask – Retail Value $2
A’Pieu is one of my favorite K-Beauty brands, and I have tried other variations of this same mask before and enjoyed them. This is made with watermelon extract, green tea extract, pomegranate extract, and witch hazel to nourish and balance your skin, and I enjoyed the light watermelon scent.
Jant Blanc Plentiful Essential Snail Mask
Jant Blanc is a brand that I really only see from Sooni Pouch, but I have found that the products perform well, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I liked how well this mask fit my eyes, nose, and mouth, and while this mask wasn’t cooling the way a lot of sheet masks are, it was still comfortable. I am not sure if the snail secretion filtrate was able to do much since I only wore this mask for 20 minutes, but my skin looked brighter and more nourished after using.
Now let’s take a look at the items that only came in the Sooni Pouch!
Yedam Yunbit Snail Peeling Gel
I never got on the peeling gel train–they are common in K-Beauty, but I feel like they are more gimmick than substance. I am a fan of snail secretion filtrate in skincare products and this was gentle on the skin when I tried it out, but I’ll probably pass the tube on to a friend and stick with my chemical exfoliators.
Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Blackhead Out Balm – Retail Value $6.60
I really liked this balm. I don’t get blackheads too often or too deep, but this has really helped to keep my nose clear. It has the consistency of a cleansing balm, and you massage it into your skin for a few minutes before washing it away. I don’t know how effective this would be on deep blackheads, but it’s certainly a painless option!
Etude House Missing You Hand Cream – Retail Value $3.54
First off, how adorable is this hand cream? It reminds me of the Tony Moly Panda’s Dream sleeping mask, but this is designed to raise awareness for endangered species. The texture on this was a gel-cream, and it was rich without being heavy or greasy.
TonyMoly Master Lab Mask in Centella Asiatica – Retail Value $3.40
Give me ALL of the Centella Asiatica, in any way shape or form. My skin loves the stuff! It is called “tiger grass” because tigers in Asia will roll in it to soothe any wounds they may have. This mask was just as soothing as I hoped it would be, and I appreciate Sooni Pouch sending a higher-end mask from a well-known brand.
Labute Clear Bubble Tea Tree Mask – Retail Value $3.90
I love bubble masks! They always make me feel like my pores are extra clean after using, so I like to reach for them whenever my skin feels congested. This mask was no exception, and the tea tree kept the mask from being too drying.
The Verdict: I really feel like over the past few months Sooni Pouch has stepped up their game. I thought this box was another success! The winners for me this month were the hand cream, the blackhead out balm, and the mini skincare set that is perfect for traveling. Sooni Pouch promises a value of over $100 in this box, but I don’t think they met that. I couldn’t find a value for everything in the box, and the values I did find added up to $32.65, which is less than the cost of the box. That being said, I think I got a fair value for the $35.99 price tag, which includes free US shipping.
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, you’d get the May box.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $35.99 + free US shipping, which means that each of the 12 items in the box has an average cost of $3.
