Unqualified by Anna Faris – Retail Value $16.00 (Buy here for $12.99)

This conversational book takes us through Anna Faris’ childhood through adulthood with wit and humor. The foreward is by her ex-husband Chris Pratt which I thought was poorly done and awkward. Anna’s hardcover book was in the November 2017 PopSugar Must Have Box. When the spoilers were released, readers commented on the disappointment in this selection since it’s been out for over a year and was in another subscription box. This sub seems to either piggy-back on book selections from past subscription boxes or sends older book releases. It would be a change of pace to select an up and coming book release for their subscribers.

Book summary:

A hilarious, honest memoir–combined with just the right amount of relationship advice–from the popular actress and host of the hit podcast Anna Faris is Unqualified.

Anna Faris has advice for you. And it’s great advice, because she’s been through it all, and she wants to tell you what she’s learned.

After surviving an awkward childhood (when she bribed the fastest boy in the third grade with ice cream), navigating dating and marriage in Hollywood, and building a podcast around romantic advice, Anna has plenty of lessons to share: Advocate for yourself. Know that there are wonderful people out there and that a great relationship is possible. And, finally, don’t date magicians.

Her comic memoir, Unqualified, shares Anna’s candid, sympathetic, and entertaining stories of love lost and won. Part memoir–including stories about being “the short girl” in elementary school, finding and keeping female friends, and dealing with the pressures of the entertainment industry and parenthood–part humorous, unflinching advice from her hit podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified, the book will reveal Anna’s unique take on how to master the bizarre, chaotic, and ultimately rewarding world of love.

Hilarious, honest, and useful, Unqualified is the book Anna’s fans have been waiting for.

LaRitzy Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick, Full Size – Retail Value $20.00

This long-lasting liquid lipstick in the shade veto is a brown nude with a peachy pink undertone. The matte liquid lipstick went on creamy and was long-lasting. This lipstick didn’t budge from my lips, but unfortunately, the shade is not a good match. Swatched below.

SinglesSwag May 2019 - Mavi Bandz Adjustable Non-Slip Headband Front

Mavi Bandz Adjustable Non-Slip Headband – Retail Value $14.99 (Found here for $12.99)

This 7/8” headband with elastic adjustable strap is non-slip and fits over my head/braids. I don’t wear headbands so I will pass on to a friend. Attached to the headband is a card with a code for 40% of your next purchase.

SinglesSwag May 2019 - Mavi Bandz Adjustable Non- Manna Kadar Sea Minerals Champagne Charcoal Scrub FrontSinglesSwag May 2019 - Manna Kadar Sea Minerals Champagne Charcoal Scrub Open

Manna Kadar Sea Minerals Champagne Charcoal Scrub, 7.40 oz – Estimated Value $9.87 (Buy an 18 oz jar for $24.00)

This scrub is awesome and I was happy to receive more since I used the 18.34 oz jar I received in my FabFitFun Spring Box. This size is not on their website and the 18 oz jar is sold out. According to their customer service, the size in this month’s box is sample size. This scrub is gritty, has a pleasant smell and made my skin so smooth. I will have to use this scrub sparingly to make it last longer than the previous jar I received. Manna Kadar is a subscription box staple and while I have gotten tired of seeing this brand, this scrub is a huge hit for me and not at all disappointed to see this brand again.

SinglesSwag May 2019 - Melinda Maria Safety Pin Pendant Necklace-Silver White Pave Wearing Selfi

Melinda Maria Safety Pin Pendant Necklace-Silver White Pave – Retail Value $48.00 (currently sold out)

When I first saw the spoilers for this item I wasn’t impressed, but in person, it grew on me. When I asked my boyfriend for his opinion, he liked it, so this is a win. The necklace is sterling silver-plated with a 13.5” inch chain with 2” inch extender. The pendant is white pave on the top of the safety pin but on the photo on their website the white pave is on the bottom circular part of the safety pin and my necklace doesn’t have that detail just a minor thing I noticed and wanted to share. The necklace came in a grey velvet pouch with a card with the brand’s name on one side and a cool quote, seen in the photo above on the other side:

Note to self: You are loved, you are safe, you are amazing.

SinglesSwag May 2019 - The Decorated Cookie Company – Decorated Shortbread Cookie Front

The Decorated Cookie Company – Decorated Shortbread Cookie

I have a big sweet tooth and this cookie satisfied my craving. The large cookie was delicious and had the flavor of shortbread cookies I have eaten before. The sugar coated frosting made the cookie even better. The cookie is peanut free but contains wheat, egg, and milk for those with allergies or dietary restrictions.

Verdict: The May SinglesSwag box delivered an enjoyable curation despite the fact that two items were included in other subscription boxes. There wasn’t an info card this month and I’m not sure if it was a mistake or if they are doing away with info cards. Let me know in the comments if your info card was missing from your May box. The champagne charcoal scrub, cookie, and necklace are my favorite items from this box. SinglesSwag gives out monthly spoilers on their boxes, so be sure to sign-up for notifications!

This month’s box has an estimated retail value of $133.86 (not including the cookie).

  1. Nice review! 🙂
I also received the info card, with ridiculously inflated RVs ($38 for the sample size scrub and $78 for the $48 necklace.) I actually sent them an email asking them how they calculate their RVs, since many of them are significantly inflated. Here is their response…

“We always do our best to include high-quality products in our boxes with accurate retail prices. Occassionally, the brands we partner with change the retail prices on their respective sites after we have produced the packing list card we include in each box. We apologize for any confusion.”

Hmmm. This isn’t really a believable answer, since there’s no way those products were changed that much in price on the partner websites! My guess is they deliberately left the card out of Nich’s box due to the vast discrepancies/having to be publicly called out on it.

I just finished my 6 month sub and I’m done with them…the deceptiveness really rubs me the wrong way.

  2. If they’re gonna copy other boxes they could least include the full size. I don’t see why this box is meant for singles. I’m single and have only been semi interested in one box so far.

  3. There was an info card, but considering they were sending the box to you for review, maybe they didn’t want you to see it because the listed retail values are *outrageously* inflated. The Manna Kadar listed as $38! The necklace listed as $78! And then others slightly over valued… The headband at $18, the lippie at $22.
I actually cancelled after receiving this month. Even at the actual retail value, the value of the box is decent. I just find that the jewelry feels so cheap, and the other products are a big mix bag of want/need/would use. Some things I love, others not. And to be honest over-valuing to such a large extent really feels deceptive to me, and makes me wonder if there is anything else they are misrepresenting. Disappointing.

    • Feel the same about this box. I signed up for 6 months last year with a discount. By the 6th month, I couldn’t wait for my sub to end. Jewelry is such junk. And RV is so overinflated.

      • Yes! I’m really glad I only went month-to-month.

  4. I re-upped at 40% off but really hoping I missed the cutoff to get this month. My least favorite box so far granted I do like the SoSusan item. June looks much better.

    • You can log in to your account and see the status. My guess is that you will get this box. If there is not a tracking number, you might be ok.

      • No tracking number! Keeping fingers crossed it stays that way till June! Thank you!!!

  5. I got the info card

    • Thanks ladies for letting me know you received the info. It seems it was an oversight on their part for not including.

      • *info card

  6. Okay, I had this one on my list to try next. Love the review. And love Anna Faris! Great review. I’m a longtime reader of your blog and this is my first comment. Woohoo!

    • Wohoo, thanks for commenting! Glad you are enjoying MSA.
