Gentleman's Box May 2019 “Gatekeeper” Review
Included in our box was an issue of the Gentleman's Post which is basically a booklet that describes the theme for the month and highlights the items included in our box. This month they are honoring their favorite Gatekeeper, Idris Elba, and since he seems like quite a classy guy, I am excited to see what they included!

Trendz Co. Tie - Listed Value $29.00
I love the blue color of this tie and I can imagine Idris Elba looking quite dapper in this one, but I wasn't sure how my husband would feel about the floral pattern. At first, he humored me and tried it on as he was on his way to work and said he probably wouldn't wear it, but he did come back around and said he thinks he might actually wear it. The floral pattern is pretty subtle and since it is on a blue tie, I think it is masculine enough for him to wear to work or for a special occasion. I actually used to waitress in a restaurant where I had to wear a tie and this would have been such a pretty one for me to wear - although I can't say I'm sad I won't get the chance to wear this one!
Gentlemen Essentials Pocket Square - Listed Value $19.00
This pocket square is a fun blue, black, and white/gray houndstooth pattern. The blue is similar to the blue in our tie, although I'm not sure I would pair them together. It is difficult to see in the photo here, but the pocket square looks great against his navy suit jacket. I think it could easily work with his gray or black jackets as well! I definitely see him wearing this next time he wears a suit.
Toronto Sock Xchange Socks - Listed Value $12.00
In keeping with our blue theme, we received these gray and blue striped socks. The quality is nice and I think these will be a great pair for him to wear for work since he has a lot of blue in his wardrobe.
Trumbull Rhodes Tie Clip - Listed Value $15.00
I believe this tie clip sword is inspired by Elba's role as Heimdoll in Thor: Ragnarok, which makes sense for this box, but it is definitely not something I see my husband wearing. It is nicely made and I like the shiny gold metal and detailed design, but I just can't see there ever being a situation where he would be able to rock this tie clip.
Veganwear Wallet - Listed Value $25.00
This vegan wallet is cruelty-free and ethically-made and it is very nice looking. It is thin and the vegan leather looks sleek with the brown color and that single dark brown stripe through the center.
It has six loose fitting slots for cards and a wider part at the top for bills. There is also an open slot behind the card slots on both sides of the wallet for more storage. This is a nice wallet that my husband will definitely use, but I do have one small gripe, which is that there is a crinkly material inside of the wallet that makes it feel cheap to me for some reason, but my husband says that will go away once it's worn in. Guess I just don't know anything about men's wallets?
Verdict: This was our first Gentleman’s Box and overall, I think there were some classy options that my husband will definitely get use out of such as the wallet, socks, and that awesome pocket square. It remains to be seen whether or not my husband will wear the tie so the only item that was sort of a miss for us was the tie clip, but that is definitely a personal style thing for us. The total listed value of this box is $100, which is great for a box that costs $29/month. This was a perfect box for incorporating some stylish and quality essentials into my husband's wardrobe along with a few fun extras and I look forward to seeing what other boxes from them are like!
