Bluum Box April 2019 Review

This Bluum box was sent for my son, Parker, who is 2.5 years old. Let's see what we received this month:

Green Toys Submarine - Retail Value $14.99 (found here with a blue handle for $10.99 )

My son was super excited to see this submarine! We actually already have the tugboat and the seaplane so this will be another great bath toy to add to our collection! This submarine is made in the USA from recycled plastic milk jugs with no BPA, phthalates, or PVC, and it meets FDA food contact standards. It features several holes along the body so that you can fill it with water and the front features a spout so you can pour the water back out for fun or for rinsing after bathing.

The back features a cute little propeller that spins and the best feature for mom is the top that opens for easy cleaning. You can even put it in the dishwasher which is great!

Urban Infant Chunky Sidewalk Chalk – Retail Value $10 (found here for $9.95)

This next item is actually a repeat from last year's September box, but since this is something that my kids go through quickly, I don't mind the repeat! This vibrant chalk is nice quality and it is big and thick which makes it easier for them to grip and draw with without it breaking like so many other chalks do. This will be perfect at keeping them entertained now that we are spending a good amount of time outdoors!

Another unique thing about this chalk is that it comes with this little booklet that shows you different hopscotch variations from around the world. This year, the kids might be old enough to try a few like this one from China!

The Four Little Pigs by Carmen Crowe - Retail Value $6.99

This little padded board book tells a familiar story with a bit of a twist, as there are four pigs here. Baby pig gets included in the story this time, building his house out of blocks and surprising everyone by befriending the Big Bad Wolf. This is a cute story that the kids enjoyed and the small size makes it a great travel size book to keep in a diaper bag or the car for a quick read!

iPlay Reversible Bucket Hat - Retail Value $10 (currently on sale for $9)

My son loves his hats! In fact, he used to wear his baseball caps to sleep because he never wanted to take them off. While we have two baseball caps already, he doesn't have a nice bucket hat like this for the summer yet, so we were both happy to see this one in the box! My daughter actually has a similar hat from this brand and it has held up for about two years now taking it to the beach, wearing it in the pool, and of course, washing it about a million times, so I am sure this hat will be comparable! I love that it is reversible and has two great shades of blue!

I was a little worried about the fit because he does have a pretty large head, but as you can see this hat fit him perfectly and stayed on throughout all of his silliness! It is just big enough to cover his face and provides some shade from the sun. It is made from organic cotton, provides UPF 20 sun protection, and is also hypoallergenic.

Verdict: I liked the summer feel of our Bluum box this month! The hat and chalk are two items we will definitely use and my son was super excited about the submarine and has been carrying it with him everywhere - another perk to that handle it has! The items are all great quality and the total retail value comes to $41.98 which is not too bad for a $34 (plus free shipping) box. While it's not too much higher than the box, I think the curation was nice this month and everything feels useful!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? All orders are processed the first of every month and shipped out on the 9th. If you order today, you will start receiving a box for next month.

  • Chalk: $8.10
  • Book: $5.66
  • Hat: $8.10

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
