Stitch Fix Kids March 2019 Review

In our Stitch Fix Kids box, there were several bright and colorful information sheets, a set of cute stickers, and some information about their box challenge. I love that they encourage recycling of your box in such a fun way.

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $246, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $164.50.

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a sweet note from her stylist, Isabel, who usually does a great job of matching her style. I love that they make it more kid-friendly by adding a little maze to the outside of it!

RUMI + RYDER Val Fit and Flare Dress, Size S - Cost to Keep $24.00

This dress is so bright and vibrant! I really love the mix of yellow and blue here and of course, my daughter loved it because it was a dress! I thought the fit was good on her and I liked that it had pockets. It is made out of a stretchy material and is more of a casual style so it would be a very comfortable dress for playing in.

Here is a closeup of the fabric and the pocket detail.

Hush Puppy Josie Ballet Flats, Size 13 - Cost to Keep $38

This month they sent my daughter some adorable shoes. I love how they always come packaged nicely inside a dust bag which is great for travel! My daughter loves "ballet shoes" and these are definitely her style. I love that the blush color is just peeking out from the rose gold finish on top. These are really unique and they are Hush Puppies so they feature cushioning on the inside for extra comfort.

While these were adorable, well-made and totally her style, they are a bit more than I like to spend on shoes for a growing girl! She grows out of shoes so quickly and I know that I could get her a pair that she likes just as much for a fraction of the cost.

Chenault Girl Larie Tutu Dress, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $34.00

How beautiful is this little dress? It is just so fancy and incredibly well made. All of the details on this dress are so nice, too. I was definitely impressed with the quality! Plus, look how nicely it goes with the shoes that they sent! We have received clothing from this brand before and I really think that they are becoming one of our favorites due to the adorable styles and great craftsmanship.

Here are some close-ups of the details. You can see the skirt has three separate layers giving it a nice full look. It also features a thin ribbon around the waist and a beautiful flower on the front. I also love the gold hardware and the fitted look of the bodice. This dress is just very well-done! She already has a dress we picked out for Easter, but I think this beautiful dress may have just bumped it out of the running!

Tailor Vintage Margery French Terry Joggers, Size 6/7 - Cost to Keep $22.00

The next item we received are these adorable joggers. I really thought she would love them because of the cute rainbow designs, but unfortunately, she is just in a phase where she only wants to wear dresses and skirts. They also reminds me a little bit of pajamas, probably because of those dreamy clouds! These are well made and have pockets and I kind of wish they had them in my size! These are a little big on her, which seems to be consistent with this brand, but the cuffed bottoms and drawstring waist help with that.

Flapdoodles Harlo Short Sleeve Tee 2-Pack, Size 6X - Cost to Keep $22

This next item is actually a 2-pack of shirts. I really love the bright colors and simple style of these shirts. That fun tie detail at the sleeves is really cute and I thought they fit her well.

These shirts are perfect picks for spring and while the yellow is fun and bright, this white one with the gold flowers is probably my favorite!

Love Glam Girl Chels Cross Back Top, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $14.00

This shirt is another great spring color! The shirt is super soft and fun with the colorful metallic text. I also like the strappy back detail. It fits sort of like a swing top and is actually a bit too big on her, which isn't a huge problem since it is a more casual top.

Chenault Girl Rita Reversible Tutu Skirt, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00

This skirt is so beautiful! It is made up of layers and layers of colorful mesh and it is just beautiful to look at. I love the scalloped bottoms and how all of the colors show as it moves. It is nice and full and another quality item.

Here is a closeup of all the layers and you can see it has a nice pink glitter elastic waistband.

One more detail that really makes this skirt stand out is that it's reversible! Here is the other side which is still pretty, but didn't quite have the same effect for me as the other side.

Sovereign Code Ortiza Embroidery Detail Tee, Size 6- Cost to Keep $16.00

My little flamingo was attempting to model this one for you on one leg here. I love stripes and this great gray and white color scheme with the pink is so cute! This feels like another casual shirt, but that ruffle around the collar makes it a bit dressier. The only unfortunate thing about this top is that since the ruffle is sewn on and doesn't have any give to it, it was really hard for her to get over her head. And she is my kid with the smaller head!

Here is a closeup of the cute flamingo detail on the front. I almost wish this top didn't have the ruffle detail because it would fit better and would still be just as cute without it!

Threads 4 Thought Leannie Crossover Hoodie, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $28.00

This hoodie is so incredibly soft and I think it looks so cozy on her! Too bad she isn't like me and doesn't like to live in a hoodie most days. While I thought it was super cute and comfortable looking, she wasn't really a fan. As far as the quality and style, I think they were both great! The crossover detail in the front is fun and adds some interest to what is otherwise a very basic hoodie.

Silver Jeans Co Lindy Woven Blouse, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00

I really wanted to love this shirt because the style is adorable, it looks great on her and the colors are great! It is a quality shirt and I love that it can be worn with the sleeves down or rolled up and held in place with the strap and button on the sleeve. What I didn't like was the design of the back. I thought it was a little odd for it to be open like that and to show the bottom of her back. It didn't feel appropriate for a four-year-old. I wish they had just sewn a little flap underneath, maybe even in a pink fabric for a fun effect, but to have it open and exposing her lower back wasn't really my favorite look.

Here is a closeup of the back of the shirt and that open detail.

The Verdict: This was a pretty good box from Stitch Fix Kids this month. My daughter's stylist really seems to get her style and sends us a good mix of items! While there were a few misses for my daughter, I think that is bound to happen when they send so many items at once! One thing I will note though is that we seem to be doing better on our sizing lately. It might be because my daughter has grown and is finally starting to fill out the clothing a bit more, but I also think some of it must be due to them listening to the sizing feedback that we provide each month. My daughter and I have fun seeing what they send each month and I love that we get to do a "shopping" trip in the comfort of our own home which is much less stressful then toting her and her brothers around to try on clothing!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you will probably get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $246. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $164.50. That’s a discount of around 33% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Mary

She’s adorable in everything!

But I agree on that last shirt. What a weird design. Definitely not something I would put my 6-year old in. We don’t need to be drawing attention to that part of her body.

Thanks, Mary! And I’m glad to know I’m not the only one on that shirt design! 🙂

My daughter would love every single thing in this box. Actually I love them all too. I just wish this sub was a little less pricey.
