Each CAUSEBOX comes with a booklet detailing the items included and the makers behind each item. I recommend reading this cover-to-cover! CAUSEBOX works with makers that give back, support fair trade, ethically source materials, etc., and it’s an inspiring read!

Now, on to the items!

Cleobella X CAUSEBOX Silky Scarf – Retail Value $52

(Subscribers will receive 1 of 3 patterns. Annual subscribers get to pick their pattern. See all options here.)

I’m very happy to report that the quality of this scarf is very impressive. (That goes for the rest of the items in the box, too.)

This floral print started out as a hand-painted design from Cleobella exclusive to CAUSEBOX.

It’s made from a vegan silk (100% polyester), and the Cleobella team took months of sampling to develop the perfect material.

Here it is on:

Admittedly, I’m not much of a silk scarf person. They often feel a bit too formal daily outfits, but after trying it on, I’m really liking it with just a white shirt and jeans! What do you think?

CAUSEBOX also included a page in their booklet with styling ideas:

I’m definitely going to try the headband approach. I like it as a pony tail accent, too.

And one other alternative use for scarves – art! (I’ve seen some lovely framed pieces on Pinterest, but since I plan on wearing this scarf and want easy access, I just just used double sided tape to temporarily attach it to a canvas.)

Glass Ladder & Co Megan Portfolio Clutch – Retail Value $120

(Subscribers will receive 1 of 3 colors. Annual subscribers get to pick their colors. See all options here.)

This is my favorite piece in the box – I know I’m going to use it all the time!

It measures 13” x 10” x 0.5” and has slots for cards, pens, notepads, etc. Plus a large pocket that is perfect for my iPad.

There are two button closure options in case you are carrying larger items and need more slack.

When I first pulled this out of the box, I was surprised and impressed with the weight of it. It’s not heavy, but the material is substantial, and the construction is impeccable as well. The feels very modern and classic at the same time. I think it will hold up well for years.

This is going to be my go-to for all travel now:

iPad, iPhone, and lip balm all tucked away!

And there’s an outer pocket as well!

Marina De Buchi Luxe Charm Bracelet – Retail Value $37

(Subscribers will receive 1 of 2 designs. Annual subscribers get to pick their design. See all options here.)

This delicate gold plated bracelet has two stars and a moon charm – I love it! Here it is on:

And the mission behind the brand gives even more significance to each piece:

In 2014 Marina De Buchi designed her first collection with the purpose was to raise awareness to help fight human trafficking, also contributing 10% of the sales price directly to The A21 Campaign (anti-human trafficking organisation).

KALOS Mist Congeniality Elixir Toning Mist – Retail Value $22

This mist is ingredient-conscious, and designed to provide immediate hydration while improving overall skin tone over time. You can use it throughout the day, post-cleanse before you apply your serums, creams, etc., too. I found the mist to be gentle and refreshing. The spray itself could be a little finer, so I’d recommend hold it at arm’s length if you are applying over makeup.

And another wonderful thing to call out about this brand: they give 5% of Kálos’ sales to non-profits supporting girls education around the world.

COSMEDIX GLOW Bamboo Brightening Mask – Retail Value $54

More ingredient-conscious skincare!

This mask is designed to help improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and discoloration. The formula has a gentle exfoliation (you can use it up to three times a week), and a subtle citrus scent. You apply a thick layer to damp skin, massage, then wait 10 minutes to remove. While I hope to notice improvements in my skin tone with time, immediately my skin felt SO smooth after I removed the mask!

Ettitude Bamboo Lyocell Eye Mask – Retail Value $15

I’m a super sensitive sleeper, so I wear a sleep mask every night – and this one works for me!

The elastic band is thick, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping, and the material is very comfortable.

And I love that it is machine washable! (The 100% Organic Bamboo Lyocell fabric is hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, too!)

WYLD French Pink Clay Konjac Sponge – Retail Value $16.90

If you aren’t familiar with a konjac sponges, you wet it before using at it becomes soft. It’s excellent for a very gentle exfoliation you can use daily.

This sponge is infused with French Clay to help removes dirt, oil, makeup and build-up in pores.

And once you are done using it, just hang it up to dry!

ALTRU Macrame Plant Hanger – Retail Value $14

ALTRU is the in-house CAUSEBOX brand – and everything product they make connects back to a cause. In this case, they planted 8000 trees throughout California – in the areas that have been most affected by recent wildfires.

Again, the quality of these piece is impressive!

I used it to hang this aloe plant, but you can use it for non-plant holding, too! 🙂

(CAUSEBOX also recommends using it to hold a fruit bowl!)

Alja Horvat Exclusive Art Print – Value Listed $14

And in every box, CAUSEBOX works with an artist to design the box and artwork. These little postcard-sized prints are great for framing!

Verdict: This CAUSEBOX has a value of about $340.90! As usual, I am so impressed with CAUSEBOX. I love their mission of working with brands + companies that give back, support fair trade, etc., and the box curation is equally amazing. The value is great for $54.95, and I think this may be my favorite CAUSEBOX of all time. I was showing this box to everyone at the MSA office – the quality of every item is so good, the colors and prints are perfect for spring, and there are so many practical + special items!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! But hurry—they go fast!

  1. I got my box today, and I got my first-choice pink portfolio, which is beautiful! The vegan leather is soft and supple and is a nice weight, too. However, I’m sorry to report that the opening at the top is about 1/4″ too small for a 13″ MacBook Air (the smallest version of the Air), so there’s no way a MacBook Pro, which is larger than 13″ MacBook Air, could fit in it. Such a shame; if it had been made just a tiny bit larger, it would have been so much more useful to Mac laptop users. It will be pretty for holding notebooks and pens and cards and such, but I can’t use it as a laptop sleeve, which is the main thing I had hoped to do.

  2. I have a weird question why are so many things in the box made in China? I thought I was helping global artists. I’m confused

    • Did you read the review? It says that they do good by….and may include employing local artisans. So no they don’t promise to employ artisans they just pledge to help so that includes donations to charity or using companies that donate. I think you are thinking of another sub box called Globein that only uses small groups of artisans.

  3. I can’t wait for this to ship! I’m excited about the surprise element of seeing which versions I get since I’m not favoring any particular color or pattern.

  4. I was wondering if this box does add ons or if its just the box?

    • Just the box, Joyce.

  5. Hi Liz! This comment has nothing to do with this box…I really want to let you know that I LOVE the new format/template that you have for the site (I just noticed it today 03/18/2019).

  6. I really hope I get a shipping email soon. I was billed March 1 and I’m waiting anxiously. Wasn’t that excited until I read your review. Really want the plant hanger and the portfolio sounds nice and useful too!

  7. A $120 vegan leather clutch portfolio should not smell like a tire store (unless it’s made in China, which it is). Too bad it’s thin and flimsy.

    • It is made in China!!!

  8. I received my box today and must say I was initially underwhelmed with the portfolio. It seemed a little flimsy, and I was disappointed that it had a strong chemical smell out of the box. It’s also “ethically made in China” which seems like an oxymoron but maybe I need to do more research.

All that said, it is super, super soft and has been growing on me every time I pick it up. I think once I figure out just what to put in it, it will become a handy part of my work life.

Everything else was beautifully packaged and appears high quality. I actually love the plant hanger more than anything since I had a plant and hook in the house that were perfect for it. My kids found the scarf to be the biggest hit. They spent about an hour trying it on in various ways.

Overall, I am happy and felt this box was well worth the money.

  9. Great review, I also chose the pink portfolio, scarf and same bracelet. Now, I am really looking forward to receiving my box. Everything looks sooooooo good!

  10. Liz where did that cute cat pen come from?

  11. I have a question unrelated to this post. I am moving out of a toxic relationship and want to decorate my new spot starting from scratch, but I don’t want, like, Ross Dress for Less decorations. Are there boxes with a focus of household or lifestyle items. I’m not necessarily thinking wall art but like cute bowls, trays, soap dishes, baskets, that sort of thing. I’d take wall art too, but I kind of want to start from the bottom up. I may post this on another thread looking for help so my apologies if you stumble across this twice.

    • GlobeIn has stuff like this (and a store too!).

      • Great, thank you! I’ll definitely check that out.

      • Yes I was going to say Globe In, too! But a lot of other boxes send clocks, vases, trinket boxes, trays, candles, drinkware, salt and pepper shakers, cozy throws, etc. Maybe keep your eye on swaps for these items if you don’t want to subscribe to full boxes. And sometimes the special edition boxes have themes like hosting or nesting. Good luck and have fun decorating your new pad!

    • I like sundae home and decocrated. I’ve had my eye on third & main too, but they’re too rich for my blood.

    • Popsugar Must Have usually has some cute home decor. This season was a bit of a flop in that area though. Winter 2018 had a very nice throw, a candle, and a. Cute Kate spade calendar. The fall 2018 box has the tray and the scarf organizer that could be used several cute ways. That and you get some nice skin care/beauty/self-care items that are always important in your situation.

  12. How do you all get your boxes so early? I’m an annual subscriber, put in my selection choices a long time ago and see on the website that my order might not ship for awhile. (I’m on the east coast, do you think that matters?) I’m not complaining, just eager to get the box, especially after this nice review.

    • I was scheduled to get mine yesterday but now FedEx says Monday. I’m in Indiana and there’s some crazy weather happening in the southern Midwest states so that may be holding up your box. But if there’s no shipping info on your account page you might contact them.

      • What part of the country does this box come from? It doesn’t say on the website and I was just curious.

  13. That folio is one of the most practical yet chic items I’ve ever seen in a sub box. I usually avoid “vegan” leather items, but Liz’s review convinced me to order this box. The scarf also looks cute and the plant hanger will be put to good use. I’ve never been interested in causebox before as the curation never totally appealed to me style-wise. However if the curation of this box signals a slightly more stylish, fashion-forward direction from now on, I’m totally on board to become an annual subscriber.

    • I know! They were always very hit or miss with me. Sometimes the boxes were great, other seasons they were just totally off and unappealing to me. I have loved every box since Summer 2.0 this past year, so I finally bit the bullet and went annual with this box. I was questioning my decision to get the pink portfolio and rose scarf, but Liz’s review has put my mind at ease.

    • So glad to hear you love the curation + style of this box, too! I’m totally with you on the folio – everyone I’ve shown it to has been impressed, too! 🙂

  14. Liz has a gorgeous haircut. I am trying to get mine like that too!

  15. I caved and ordered iy because your review convinced me and FOMO got the best of me. Lol

    • iy= only. Gotta love auto-correct.

    • Me too! As soon as I read the review I caved.

  16. Liz is getting way too happy with the plus sign on the keyboard LOL.

Hey, nothing wrong with using the word “and”! 🙂

    • But there is something wrong with being passive aggressive…😉

    • LOL!

    • There’s like literally a couple +s which work with the sentence structure. What a thing to be focused on.

    • What are you even talking about? Congratulations on finding something that small to focus on, wish I had as much spare time as you.

  17. My box arrived today and I love it! I’ve been subscribing to this box since the beginning and I think this is my favorite box yet. I chose the grey portfolio (the quality is stellar and it fits my MacBook with room to spare), the moon and stars bracelet (much nicer in person than I expected – way less cheap and young than I thought from the pics), and the blue striped scarf (it’s quite lovely though I’m not sure how much I’ll personally wear it – time will tell). I adore the macrame plant holder and all of the other items. I might keep it all for myself! <3

    • Yay!!!

    • wow! those are exactly the same choices I made! I’m so happy to hear your great review. Can’t wait to get mine in a week or so!!

    • Do you think it will for an ipad pro since it fits your macbook? I am thinking about getting it for my sister but not site how big an ipad pro is?

      • Yes, it would fit an iPad Pro, even the biggest one. I think it would be really nice for that!

  18. Got my box today and absolutely loved it. The portfolio is super practical and pretty and I have some silk scarves and I feel no difference between them and the scarf, which surprised me. The spray is pretty strong so I think better for hydration and not over makeup. Sleep mask is comfortable and lightweight, which I love. Mask sounds okay. Gave my daughter the Macrame hanger and she has already hung it in her room with her favorite plant in it 🙂 I love the causes this box supports and I love what the do with the curation. Will be canceling FFF after the last box, I just don’t want more “stuff” cluttering up my life. Need to get more “sparks joy” about these boxes. Causesbox does for me.

    • It the same with me! After having an annual subscription for both FFF and Causebox, I decided to go with Causebox only this year. For some reason almost all FFF items that are non skin care end up a disappointment in the long run. With Causebox – even the stuff I didn’t like at first (for example the Turkish towel they had in the last years summer box) end up amazing and I can’t get enough of them!!!

    • I totally agree! This year I’m doing an annual with both FFF + Causebox to make my decision on which to keep from now on and Causebox is SO winning!! Outside of the skincare, the FFF products do not hold up, which I wish wasn’t true, but I don’t want to spend nearly $200/year on stuff that won’t last or hold up.

    • I love that you wrote “sparks joy”.
I also am looking at the boxes for what “sparks joy”

      • @Jessica – Look up Marie Kondo or the KonMari method, it’s super popular now

  19. Now I wish I had ordered the pink items!

    • If it helps, I’ve seen all the patterns + colors in person – they’re all fab! 🙂

  20. Why does Liz barely write reviews anymore? Hers are always my favorite! 🙁

    • Seems like Instagram is the new project.

    • Glad to hear you like my reviews! Thank you! I have a few more coming up this week, but I’ve been getting some help from Megan lately because I’ve been getting behind!

  21. Excited to get my box, arriving in two day. I skipped the winter box because I thought the items were too similar to other boxes but this box is so different and chic. Can’t wait.

    • Yay! Glad to hear you are excited – and I agree, this box feels so fresh and different!

  22. I haven’t been able to swap for the portfolio so I signed up and used the coupon to get it for $45. I’ll be swapping, donating the beauty stuff and bracelet but I really want the portfolio and will try to use the plant hanger.

  23. Liz, what size iPad is in the picture? Also, do you think the portfolio could hold an iPad with a keyboard OR a 13″ MacBook Pro and still close properly? I can’t recall what size Causebox claimed it could hold. Thank you!

    • That is the 12.9″ iPad Pro. CAUSEBOX says it fits most 13″ laptops, so I *think* you should be good with a MacBook Pro. And I believe you should be able to close it easily with an iPad + keyboard (assuming keyboard is relatively slim.)

I had no problems closing it with the iPad + iPhone shown in the picture.

      Hope that helps!

      • Yes! Thank you very much!!!

  24. I’m excited to get mine! I was worried the portfolio would be too floppy, but it looks fine. Thanks for the review, LIz!

  25. Nice review, can’t wait to get my box. Liz, your hair looks fabulous!!!

    • Thanks, Cyndi!

  26. Liz… I love your review and you look fantastic!! I picked the marigold scarf but after seeing your rose one, I’m kinda sorry I didn’t pick that one, oh well. I’m sure there will be plenty on ebay. The rest of the box looks good and I will use most everything in it.

    • Thanks, Barbara! The marigold scarf is gorgeous, too – I think you’ll love it!

  27. Thanks for the positive review. I feel better about my subscription now. I joined with the Winter box and had no use for most of the pieces from that one. Glad that this all looks useful. Do wish they offered silver finish on the jewelry. So glad it’s not another “statement piece” .

    • I am seriously impressed with this box. I hope you love it as much as I do when you open it! 🙂

  28. I signed up for this box and will be canceling my Fab Fit Fun. FFF’s spring box was a dud for me. I am only looking forward to the a few items. Causebox not only has things Inlole, bit the support good causes. I love that!

    • Ugh. I hate auto correct and fat fingers. That should read “Causebox not only has things I like, but they support good causes. I love that!”.

    • Causebox not only has things I like, but the support good causes. I love that!

  29. I’m curious if the portfolio clutch is big enough to be able to carry standard sized papers in 8 1/2 by 11?

That could make it really handy for transporting documents.

  30. Love your review, Liz as always! Just out of curiosity though…has something happened to Anna? I miss her reviews, too.

Causebox is standing out as my fav of all sub boxes…I really like your review. I chose the rose scarf, and your review makes me so glad that I did!

    • I’ve been wondering the same thing!

    • Thanks, Kay! Anna is still reviewing boxes, but not as many as before – thank you for checking on her 🙂 She’s shifted some of her focus to working on additional content pieces like tutorials.

      • Yay! I’ve missed her reviews, too!

      • I’m so glad she’s still part of the MSA team 🙂 You guys rock!

    • I’ve been asking about Anna as well, but no reply. They don’t even post my comments!!

  31. Oh, dear, we have “vegan silk” now, too? What’s next? “Vegan wool”?

    • Let’s be clear – it’s just polyester. But they thought “polyester” sounded cheap and “vegan silk” sounded expensive so they just gave it a completely useless fake name. Ridiculous.

    • Hahaha! I was like on no! vegan silk AND vegan leather in the same review?!? That should be flammable polyester and pleather.

    • Usually branding like this makes this non-vegan roll her eyes (hard). But it bothers me less coming from Causebox. It signals that they’ve tried to make a vegan item similarly luxurious as the original. I’m going to reserve final judgment until my box arrives.

    • I sincerely hope so. Compassion over fashion.

  32. I hadn’t planned on getting this box until I saw your review.

  33. What do you think of the quality of the bracelet? I’m considering buying one from their website (I like silver), but wasn’t sure about the quality.

    • I think the quality is great for that pricepoint of bracelet. It’s gold plated, and it has over an inch of chain to get the perfect fit for your wrist.

      • Great, thank you Liz!

  34. I can’t wait to get this box in my hands…luckily I’ve already gotten my shipping notice! Great review and thanks for pointing out all of the donations or meaning behind the brands and items chosen to make it a “Cause”box. One of my favorite subs…and I’ve had too many. LOL.

  35. I decided after the spoilers to skip this box. Glad I did. Can’t wait for the summer box!

    • Ditto!

  36. honestly, i love causebox more and more each season and will happily renew my annual membership in a few months. the quality of the products is really impressive and the curation of each box is so carefully executed – every item feels very deliberate. my box should be here saturday and i can’t wait!

    • Yay! Glad to hear you love this subscription as much as I do! 🙂

  37. This is probably the least excited Ive been about a CAUSEBOX, but who knows. Ive been wrong and pleasantly surprised before.

  38. I really didn’t want to love this box but this review is changing my mind. That portfolio is calling my name!

    • Yeah, I wasn’t interested until reading the review and now I kinda really want the box. Oops

      • I can justify by saying that I’m saving $70 off retail for the one item I really want, lol. 😃

    • The portfolio is amazing! 🙂

      • I think that’s the one thing I really want after this review. Is it still easy to snap closed after all of that stuff was added?

        • Yes, because they added the additional button I had no issues. The design is very smart. Hope that helps!
