Yes, Oh Yas! January 2019 Review

This month includes products from all different categories. Let's see what we can do with them!

theme card

item info

A card is included with the included item's names and listed values. Just a note: I found some discrepancies between the values listed online and on this card. I included the current retail value of the individual products online (if I could find it on the respective brand's site) for you below. Here's what YOY says about their listed values:

What is the retail value and how is it calculated?

Yes, Oh Yas subscription retail value is based ONLY on original retail pricing of the items included for the month. Retail value prices are given to us by the company partners of the month and does not reflect price reductions, sale, or clearance. Original retail value pricing may not be displayed on the company's website. Retail value pricing are subject to change and Yes, Oh Yas has no control over decisions made by the company partners of the month.

Crown 10 Color OMG Eyeshadow Collection - Retail Value $9.99, Listed Value $10

Look at these beautiful, vibrant shades! I'm impressed by the pigmentation, velvety feel, and bendability of these shadows. There is a mix of matte, shimmer, and metallic finishes from neutral to bold colors.

Look at these teals! And that black is so intense. For $10, I'm super impressed.

Here's the eye look I came up with for this palette. I HAD to use the two teal shades and used the warm tones to build up a sunset inspired gradient. I did this look quickly and worked with my fingertips for the bulk of it. I can't wait to play with the purples next!

NCLA nail polish NCLA nail polish back NCLA nail polish open NCLA nail polish swatch

NCLA Luxury Nail Lacquer in This is Hollywood!, 13.3ml/.5 fl.oz - Retail Value $16, Listed Value $21

As if large flake gold glitter wasn't enough, this polish also has tiny holographic glitter in it. NCLA's nail lacquers are 7-free, vegan, and cruelty-free and apply so smoothly. The swatch above is two coats and is perfect for layering over a solid color that you want to peek through. Three to four coats should give you solid glitter coverage.

Beauty Creations liquid lipstick Beauty Creations liquid lipstick open

Beauty Creations Liquid Lipstick in 24 Kiss Me, 4g - Retail Value $4.99, Listed Value $8

I'm not sure why they branded this as a "matte lipgloss" (seems like a contradiction) but it is essentially a liquid lipstick. The formula is light and airy, kind of like a mousse, making it easier to apply than runnier formulas. I love the rich berry color and opaque coverage. It takes a few minutes to dry down but isn't too sticky and feels comfortable throughout wear. It lasts through talking and drinks but starts to wear off when I eat. Luckily, applying a refresher coat is quick and mess free.

Inmo highlighter Inmo highlighter open Inmo highlighter detail

Inmo Universe's Star Highlighter in Twilight, 1.5g - Retail Value $10

I've tried this exact product before and, though it is pretty, it's too warm for me to use as a facial highlighter. I think the cream-to-powder formula works well as an eyeshadow or inner corner highlight, especially with a warm-toned eye look. It's also a pretty highlight for the collarbone or decollete.

Appeal Cosmetics Charcoal Pigment, 5g - Retail Value $21

This is a big jar of loose pigment! Luckily, the charcoal shade is versatile; it looks great diffused out as a shadow, smoked out along the lash line, or applied with a wet liner brush for sharp definition. The cool-toned gray has a slight violet shimmer that looks beautiful with other purples and pinks.

Here are swatches of the INMO Highlighter, Beauty Creations Liquid Lipstick, and Appeal Pigment.

My second look with the January Yes, Oh Yas! collection is chic and simple. I started by lining my eyes with a damp brush and the Appeal Charcoal Pigment. Then I worked some of the same pigment onto my upper lid, making sure to diffuse it out as I worked toward the center of my lid. I blended the INMO Highlighter onto the inner corner of my lid with my fingertips and swiped on one coat of the BC Liquid Lipstick. Super easy, super pretty!

Verdict: This month, there were still some discrepancies between the current retail values and the listed values provided, but it seems to be much better than previous months. Yes, Oh Yas! has taken some steps to help explain their values like adding a note to the info card and to their site. YOY's listed prices put this month's product value at $70, but I estimate a retail value of $61.98. If I look past that, I was really impressed by and am enjoying each of the items this month, especially the eyeshadow palette and the liquid lipstick. Yes, Oh Yas! always delivers an interesting mix of products that I enjoy trying though. And, honestly, for the affordable price of $14.99 + $3.99 for all full-size products, I'm not sure why they worry about listing values.

Tiffany, that eye look is so beautiful!
At first it seems like a color that wouldn’t see much use (I’m not into the green eye look trend), but you made it look usable & blend well with other colors!
