Peet's Coffee Brazil Campos Altos - Retail Value $19.95
January's coffee is from Campos Altos in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The label describes it as "nutty and sweet with caramel and sundried fruit." This is a very flavorful medium roast coffee! I can definitely taste the sweet and fruity notes along with milk-chocolate, hazelnut, and caramel. It's well-rounded and complex. I absolutely enjoyed drinking this roast.
I absolutely appreciate the freshness of this roast! Peet's Coffee roasts your beans to order, within 24 hours of them shipping to you. It's fantastic and I can really tell from the second I open the bag and get the first inhale of the glorious coffee aroma.
Of course, they include tips and instructions for brewing the best cup of this coffee possible. It's key to use fresh beans and fresh, cold, filtered water. Their recipe for brewing this roast is 2 tablespoons for every 6 ounces of water.
When you sign up you submit your preferences for how many pounds per month you want in your subscription and also how you want them: whole bean, ground for drip, ground for espresso, ground for press pot & percolator, or ground for commercial brewer.
Verdict: I'm really happy with my first experience with Peet's Coffee Explorer Series subscription! I think it's a great idea to feature a different single-origin roast and I'm excited to try different brews that feel special and have a new destination to explore each month. They've announced February's roast: Peru Chirinos Organic described as "juicy, delicate, and a jewel of a co-op dedicated to sustainable production." Looking forward to it!
