The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – Retail Value $18.99 (found here for $12.91)
This edition of the book was signed by the author and features an exclusive cover! This book was fantastic – I absolutely devoured it! I love that it was set in Paris and the characters had such complexity, chemistry, and wit. This layered tale kept me engaged and turning the pages hour after hour!
Book Summary from Amazon:
From New York Times, bestselling author Roshani Chokshi comes a novel set in Paris during a time of extraordinary change--one that is full of mystery, decadence, and dangerous desires...
No one believes in them. But soon no one will forget them.
It's 1889. The city is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. Here, no one keeps tabs on dark truths better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. When the elite, ever-powerful Order of Babel coerces him to help them on a mission, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance.
To hunt down the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin calls upon a band of unlikely experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian banished from his home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in arms if not blood.
Together, they will join Séverin as he explores the dark, glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the course of history--but only if they can stay alive.
A letter from the author is also included with the book.
Exclusive! Wall Tapestry by Holly Dunn Design
This beautiful tapestry is inspired by The Golden Compass. It measures around 18" x 24" and would be the perfect addition to a reading nook. I love the polar bear and clock!
Exclusive! Wooden Letter Opener by Juniper & Ivy Designs
Embrace your inner hobbit! This Sting Sword is an ancient Elvish blade – and this little wooden replica is the perfect addition to your desk. You could also use this as a bookmark, as it measures about 6" long.
Exclusive! Master of Death Socks designed by OwlCrate and Michelle Gray
These Harry Potter inspired socks are 85% cotton, 12% polyester, and 3% elastic. They are one size fits most, and fit my size 7.5 woman’s foot well, with plenty of stretch for some larger sizes. They are black and feature the iconic ‘master of death’ logo. I think these socks are great to add to my Halloween wardrobe!
Exclusive! Antler Bracelet designed by OwlCrate
This Shadow and Bone inspired bracelet should help you amplify your Grisha powers. This bracelet is an easily adjustable gold bangle, featuring some antler detail. Since this is a pretty understated piece, you could tie it into almost any outfit as a gentle nod to your love of YA fantasy reads!
Exclusive! Zipper Pouch by Stella Bokish Art
This pouch is inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic. With the saying, “As Travars to Travel” I think this pouch lends itself well to a home in my travel bag! It could also be used as a makeup pouch, as it’s roomy and measures about 8” x 6” and is fully lined.
Exclusive! Gilded Wolves Luggage Tag
This luggage tag will make your black bag stand out at the airport! It's metallic silver, has a buckle to easily attach to your luggage handle, and features an embossed Eiffel emblem as a nod to the setting of the featured book this month.
Exclusive! Monthly Enamel Pin by Alchemy and Ink
A new feature of this subscription box is a guaranteed enamel pin in every box. Each pin will be inspired by the monthly book pick. I think this is a great feature and a real benefit of the box! I could totally see adding these to my bookbag back or sticking them to a corkboard in my dorm room or office!
Verdict: I can’t get over the value in this box! Although it’s hard to estimate exactly due to the nature of the exclusive items, the box costs $36.98 ($29.99 + $6.99 US Shipping) and I received 8 items, including a highly anticipated new release signed by the author, I feel more than satisfied. Using straight math, that’s like paying about $4.62 per item. The curation is fun, thoughtful, and I would recommend this box as a gift to someone into this type of literature.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, subscriptions are now open for the February box.
