The Zakka Kit December 2018 Review
The front of the info card has the theme (which is "Kyoto Kimono") and a short explanation.
The reverse side has a list of the items with descriptions and a total value.
Season's Greetings Kyoto Greeting Card
Wow- this is really quite a beautiful card! I used to send holiday or New Years cards every year to friends but have fallen out of habit. I think this card has inspired me to send at least one to a lucky pal! The front features a maiko (an apprentice geisha) in the traditional kimono, looking off towards a Japanese building with a cherry blossom tree in the foreground, all done in black, red, and metallic gold ink. The inside has a simple greeting and it's accompanied by a crisp white envelope.
Winter Plum Blossom Notepad
Another beautiful item! This notepad is long and skinny and has two different designs with green birds and pink plum blossoms decorating the paper. There is a delightful texture to it which makes it feel even more beautiful and I just love the illustrations. This will really elevate my grocery lists!
mt Washi Tape in Red Asanoha - Retail Value $3.95
Ahhhh I love love love this traditional Japanese pattern! It's very familiar after being so into Japanese stationery and office supplies, so it's nice to have a washi tape with it. This red Asanoha was one of the variations that could be received while a navy blue star pattern was the other. I'm very happy with the one I got!
Kyoto Illustrated Postcard
This postcard was designed by Adachi Masato and I received the variation of Gion Matsuri which is a festival that takes place in Kyoto in July. It also comes with a large fold-out booklet that has a story about each postcard featured in the set.
Kimono Accessories Stickers
You can't get a Zakka Kit without stickers! This small sheet contains various accessories like hairpins, shoes, and a comb. The little pink, green, and yellow flowers surrounding them are also tiny stickers you can use to decorate the postcard or greeting card before sending out!
Zebra Sarasa Clip Pen - Estimated Retail Value $1.75 (similar found here)
This is my favorite pen of all time, but I've never seen such a minimal paired down version before. It has a white body with pink accents even though the ink is black. There isn't the typical point size or name across the clip either. I'm perplexed! I still love it though!
Tsubame Bird Stickers x4
Finally, there are 4 washi stickers of illustrated swallows. These are really quite lovely and delicate which make them a great addition to this box!
Verdict: Zakka Kit was especially beautiful this month and included one of my favorite pens! I'm really happy with what I received and can't wait to mail out some cards.
