Look Fantastic November 2018 Beauty Box Review
Each box comes with a booklet that tells you more about the products included with tips on how to use them. November’s theme is Dark Wonder, which I adore because I am more than burnt out on fall leaves and turkeys. This is a very sophisticated take on a month that lies between pumpkins and snowflakes.
So we didn’t escape ALL of the fall references, but this feels very appropriate in this booklet and was very well done!
This looks insanely delicious. Who is volunteering to come over and make me a cup?
This month’s booklet also had a couple of pages on fragrance families, which I thought was interesting since no fragrance came in the actual box. This is still always good info to know though, especially if you are a perfume collector or want to become one.
Now, on to the items!
Bubble T x lookfantastic Dark Wonder Bath Bomb, 5.29 oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $6.00
This bath bomb smells both fruity and sophisticated. It is a deep and dark navy with a golden shimmer that felt super moody and luxurious. My skin felt both glowing and moisturized after using this bomb and although I did have to clean my bathtub just a wee bit, it was totally worth it. I highly recommend supplementing your bath bomb experience with loads of candles and a cat that keeps trying to climb into the tub with you, but, you know, only if you need extra relaxation.
I love little tubes of cream in the winter since I can toss them in my purse and always feel like I have an exceptional moisturizer close by. This formula is designed for sensitive skin, making it an excellent choice for chapped winter cheeks or noses sore from tissues. The booklet included with this month’s box also mentions it is a great choice for pregnant women with sensitive skin and I can’t wait to recommend it to a close friend who is a soon to be momma!
This peel smelled so fruity! It has fruit enzymes that help to break up the dead skin cells on your face without the use of harsh abrasives. Because peels can be super drying, I recommend following up immediately with your favorite heavy moisturizer. Also be careful in the bright sun after using any exfoliant and try not to use more than 1-2 times a week, especially if you have sensitive skin!
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in ‘Gilded Honey’ – Estimated Value $13.00 (Buy Full Size 1.6 oz here for $26.00)
I am exceptionally fair skinned, so a super warm highlighter naturally scares me as I tend to look more dirty than glowing. This illuminator has proven to be an exception to this rule, granted I use it sparingly. It is so shimmery and pigmented that even if I use the faintest amount, the effect is still so glowy and pretty! The shimmer is composed of many different shades including pearl, pink, rose gold, and gold which makes it very dimensional. I also tried it heavier on my eyelids for a sparkling eyeshadow that I received many compliments on. I was sadly unable to find what size this sample is, but I am guessing it is close to half of the full size.
Mellow Precision Pen Eyeliner, 0.063 oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $18.00
I am not really someone who wears eyeliner often, but with holiday parties right around the corner, I am glad to find one in this months box. It is a super bold black that dried quickly and stayed put when I swatched it and tried to rub it off. It was also easy to apply due to the flexible felt tipped brush. This formula is also paraben free! What more can you ask for?
Contour Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Juju
This is such a pretty color! I have struggled to find a more nude color that works with my skin tone without making me feel super washed out. While this certainly isn’t a true nude (at least not on me!) it is a step in that direction that doesn’t make me look sick. I often find matte formulas very drying but this one lasted a good 4 hours before I was feeling the dryness. I simply applied some of my favorite TokyoMilk Lip Balm and it turned into a beautifully pigmented cream which lasted the rest of my workday. It looks like Contour Cosmetics usually sells this as a set with a matching lipliner, though all kits appear to be currently sold out.

And this box includes the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine:
Retail Value $5
Florence, you goddess.
The Verdict: This month’s box has a value of at least $64.36 not counting the magazine or the lipstick since I could not locate its retail value. This is a great value for a $19 beauty box shipped from overseas! The variety was good as well, a wonderful mix of skincare and cosmetics. My favorites were the illuminator and the day cream but there wasn’t a single product I disliked! This month was a total win.
To Wrap Up:
Value Breakdown: At $19.99 for this box, the average cost of each of the 6 items is $3.33.
