CHC Vintage Plus Dress October 2018 Review
I love the leopard print greeting card, DUH!
There isn’t a traditional information card or invoice included with the subscription box; you get a personalized handwritten card with styling suggestions instead. I love all the styling tips Nicole and her team included! Their selections for me are always so thoughtful too. This month’s box had two dresses included in it, one for October and November. The dress I received in August Nicole mentioned did not fit me, sadly, but the September selection I received fit like a dream!
White Lace Overlay Maxi Dress — Retail Value Unavailable
The 90s are alive and well in this lace maxi dress! I love lace and velvet pieces, so I was eager to see how this item looked on. I was initially indifferent about the off-white color, but upon trying it on my feelings changed: I genuinely like this dress. I absolutely love that this is a two piece as well that isn’t sewn to one another. I wore the slip by itself and was surprised by its opaqueness. I like the idea too of maybe wearing a shorter or different color slip in place of the one that came with this dress for further versatility and interesting options! I styled the dress with my go-to favorites: red cowboy boots, faux leather biker jacket, and my scorpion bolo tie! I felt like Suzi Quatro and Stevie Nicks’ lovechild in this get-up! The dress is a lighter material, but can easily be worn from spring through fall with fantastic layering pieces. In the fall, pair this dress with a bulky cardigan sweater, black tights, and combat boots for the ultimate grunge-inspired ensemble. Heck, put a plastic baby bow hair clip in your hair for more Courtney Love vibes for a bonus. Just don’t go tossing your MAC powder compact at anyone while feeling your Courtney Love oats! In the spring and summer months pair this ultra-romantic dress with glitzy heeled sandals and a layered beaded necklace.
Verdict: CHC Vintage often surprises me by sending pieces that I, myself, would never expect to love. This dress is proof of that! If I had seen this item at the thrift store or a boutique, I wouldn’t consider trying it on! That is the beauty of CHC and their amazing ability to style their subscribers! I am truly impressed by their eye for detail and constant care and consideration put into every box they send me! I also am impressed by their ability to find so much quality vintage in plus sizes! As most bodacious babes know, it can be frustrating as a thrift/flea/estate sale shopper finding pieces above a size twelve. I have a love/hate thing for the task of hunting for decent vintage in my size, so this service is a blessing in that regard as well!
