Quirky Crate October 2018 Box Review
I’m always SO stoked to get my Quirky Crate in the mail! And I’ve been very eager to see what they’d do for their Halloween box. Let’s take a look!
Small Black Cat Purse – Listed Value $30.00
As a cat person, I am smitten with this kitten-shaped purse. It’s not terribly roomy (the purse part of the purse really only extends up to the cat’s shoulders), but it’s big enough to hold my big phone, keys, and a lipgloss or two. The only downside of this purse is that it’s a little top-heavy—if you load it up, you’ll be fine, but I found that because the chain is set a little low on the cat’s body, the purse likes to flip as it bops along at my hip.
Basic Witch Enamel Pin – Listed Value $10.00
Ooo, I like this punny little pin. The pink and gold colors are so pretty together, and there’s something really fun about the fact that the stoppers on the back are pink, too! Knowledgeability-wise, I am definitely a basic witch, though I know at least one person who is a legitimate witch—this pin is a nice reminder to ask her more about her beautiful practice!
Ouija Board Socks – Listed Value $12.00
Milton Bradley, eat your heart out! Whether you believe Ouija boards actually work (which, for the record, I do—I’ve listened to too many spooky podcast stories not to…), you’ve got to admit that these calf-high socks are a clever way to up the ethereal factor of an outfit. The black and white pattern makes them kind of unassuming. Like, I could imagine wearing these with a low-key pair of formal flats, trousers, and a simple white button-down, but having these socks poking out for a bit of head-turning personality!
Spooky Cat Cookie Cutter – Listed Value $3.75
Again, as a cat person, I am all about this little cookie cutter! Would it be weird to make cat cookies for the holidays, too? Okay, good, because I’m totally doing that. Sorry, gingerbread men.
Nikki Miles You Are Magic Pillow Sham – Listed Value $22.00
In the past, Quirky Crate has only featured indie artists via its enamel pins. But now, they’re expanding to showcase artists through all sorts of items! This month’s item is a throw pillow cover designed by Nikki Miles! I love the positive, yet ethereal vibe. It’ll look super cute on my couch or as a finishing touch on my bed.
Ouija Sparkle Keychain – Listed Value $5.50
How fun is this keychain?! It went on my keys literally moments after I took it out of the box. I love the colors and the clever planchette shape!
Busy People Halloween Costume – Listed Value $5.00
This old-school-style button could not have been more perfect for this year’s Halloween. I just didn’t have time to do anything costume-wise, so this pink pin was a perfect pinch-hitter. I like the retro font style and pink and red color combo!
Moth Iron-On Patch – Listed Value $12.00
This patch is even more gorgeous in real life than it looks in these photos! The colors are luxurious and have a luminous sheen, thanks to the finish of the thread. The patch is about the size of a small postcard, so it’s on the bigger side, too. And I’m going to get real honest with you all—the first thing I noticed about this patch is that it looks like the giant tattoo Harry Styles has on his chest! Oh sorry, are you NOT a Harry Styles fan? Because I totally am. (Harry, call me. Also lend me one of your suits, please. They are impossibly good.)
The Verdict: I loved this month’s box! Everything was a ton of fun, in terms of Halloween, but they’re awesome for every day, too! The pillowcase makes me excited for what other artist-designed items might show up in future boxes. And of course, they wowed me with the socks, as usual! I’m so excited to put all of these cuties to work!
