The bottles are shipped in an upright cardboard box that has molded pieces to hold them in place. This also helps prevent the bottles from bashing into one another during transport. The box is rather sturdy and has a super handy handle that makes it easy to carry! It’s quite the transportable beauty. A real party in a box, if you will.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Nocking Point Wine Club Fall October 2018 - 2014 Origins Label

2014 "NP ORIGINS” PINOT NOIR

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir

Appellation: Willamette Valley, OR

Winemaker: Sarah Cabot

Release Date: September 1, 2018

Original Label Art By: Brian Brown

Availability: 700 cases produced

This wine’s story: Walla Walla is on the Oregon border and with our personal love of Pinot Noir, we know we had to produce ours alongside our neighbors to the south. This is the second vintage of “Origins”, our annual homage to the people and places from our past who helped us become who we are today. This vintage is a great mix of red fruit flavors intermingling with earthy, rustic notes. It’s a classic Willamette Valley style, balanced and easy-drinking by nature. This one is particularly special to Stephen, as the image on the label shows his grandparents together in one of their favorite places, on Lake Simcoe, in 1954.

My take: I found this wine to be a bit lighter and fruity. It didn't have the strong flavor that I typically enjoy in wine -- but for that reason, I think it would pair well with light food. I enjoy the storyline associated with this wine and love the bottle design. I would enjoy having this on my dinner table for a light evening meal!

Appellation: Columbia Valley

Winemaker: Sean Boyd

Release Date: September 1, 2018

Original Label Art By: Brian Brown x Stephen Amell

Availability:  700 cases produced

This wine’s story: “Why 3rd date? You know why…” and we think you can connect the dots from there. Stephen came up with this concept years ago and you’re holding the first edition now. We love our WA Cab big time and are very proud to have this one in our lineup. You’ll find juicy red fruits like cherry, strawberry, and rhubarb along with notes of vanilla. Easy drinking on the palate, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is great whether you’re enjoying it over a casual pizza or an impressive home-cooked meal.

My take: I really enjoyed the full-bodied, flavorful taste of this wine. I just wanted to have more and more sips of it and let it sit on my tongue because I found it to be so delicious. The juicy flavor notes mentioned above definitely shined through for me. As mentioned above, I thought this was a versatile wine that could pair well with a lot of different types of food.

Nocking Point Wine Club Fall October 2018 - 2016 Night Ender label

2016 Night Ender

Blend: 50% Malbec / 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Washington State

Winemaker: Sean Boyd

Consulting Winemaker: Aisha Tyler

Release Date: September 1, 2018

Original Label Art By: Brian Brown x Aisha Tyler

Availability: 700 cases produced

This wine’s story: “I want a big bold wine surrounded by friends at the end of dinner. I want the last bottle you order at the end of a great evening. I want a night ender…”, and with those words from our good friend Aisha Tyler, the awesome name and concept for this wine was born. NIGHT ENDER is a 50/50 blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon and combines notes of plum, black cherry and white pepper with a profile that is dry and robust, with soft tannins. What does all this mean? It means this blend = a wine that is smooth, rich, mouth-filling, and so appropriately unapologetic. Pop this one at the end of an evening soon!

My take: This was another wine that I REALLY enjoyed. All of the descriptors above applied, it was bursting with flavor that stayed in my mouth for a long time. I think this would pair well with heavier foods since it's so flavorful, or could be savored all on its own.

Nocking Point Wine Club Fall October 2018 - The Coffee Pack

Nocking Point Wine Club Fall October 2018 - The Coffee Open

The Coffee

The story: We partnered with Walla Walla Roastery to create our own line of micro-roasted coffees. Thomas, our master-roaster buddy, sources his beans directly from the growers in the world's finest coffee-growing regions. You're in for a serious treat when you settle into a cup of our Great Coffee every morning.

My take: I actually used the cold brew method to brew this coffee, so that might affect my perception of it! This coffee originates in Mexico - and from my experience coffee grown in this hemisphere tends to be on the acidic side. I found the flavor to be fresh and fruity. While I typically prefer more a more nutty flavor of coffee - I did perk up when I drank this and the smell was divine. I'd recommend if you want to try something new!

The T-Shirt

The Story: everyone loves a great tee. A great tee is even better when it's exclusive and you can only get it when you're part of a club. Inside each wine club shipment, you'll get one of our custom-printed, butter-soft tees in addition to the best wine and coffee you've ever tasted. We'll always toss in a little extra for the holiday shipment too. You're gonna love what's coming your way in December!

My Take: You can never have enough soft tees. I mostly need T-Shirts to workout or sleep in, so this was definitely comfy for that. I enjoyed the logos and designs as well!

Verdict: This month’s Nocking Point selections was an interesting spectrum of very light all the way to an extremely flavorful red. I loved that they're covering all of my beverage needs in a month with super high-quality products! This adds a bright surprise to my mornings and evenings, so I'd definitely recommend.
