Our November 2018 Review

The NewBeauty TestTube has recently been reimagined after tons of hard work and careful attention to customer feedback. You have to appreciate a company that listens to and values customer input enough to evolve and change for the better! It is obvious that this revamp was a labor of love by the New Beauty Team. I absolutely love the new tube design. It is so pretty! I was also tickled that although the sub now comes with that bangin’ new tube, the goodies included this month were far too numerous to fit so they had to send it in a large box. That is exciting!

Now, on to the items!

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 bath salts

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 bath salts back

Mini Valerian & Hops Mineral Bath Salts, 2.1 oz- Retail Value $4.00 (found here for $2.00)

I like salt soaks but usually find them underwhelming. Compared to some of those crazy glitter filled bath bombs they are downright old school! I passed the one to my husband after he had a particularly strenuous day at work. He really liked the scent and found the combination of the salts and a hot bath very relaxing.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 body scrubber in package New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 scrubby in package back New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 bath scrub sponge New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 scrubbing sponge ,

Daily Concepts Daily Body Scrubber – Retail Value $10

While I always give my face the celebrity treatment, I am terrible about exfoliating my body. I get eczema on my calves so I am always really nervous about agitating the spots when they appear. This scrubber was more gentle feeling than others I have tried, but I don’t think I will be using it on my legs. The spongy center helps create a nice lather with your favorite soap or body wash and I love that the little tag fades when it is time to replace.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 night cream New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 night cream back

Kneipp Night Cream, 1.0 fl oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $33

Another new brand for me this month! Immediately I love that it is plant based, lacks harmful ingredients like paraffin and silicon, and the company doesn’t test on our furry friends. The texture is silky and it has a scent that is botanical and light. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was that it does tend to pill if you over-rub it into your skin. This does matter much less because it is a night cream.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 tooth whitener New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 tooth whitener back

Supersmile Quikee, 0.17 oz.- FULL SIZE! Retail Value $18

This might have been the only product this month that I wasn’t super excited about and found minimally effective. Admittedly, I am never super thrilled to get teeth related products in my subscriptions. I did try this product and didn’t notice a difference in tooth whitening, although my teeth aren’t very yellow. This little tube has approximately 30 uses.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 glytone New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 glytone back

Glytone Enhance Brightening Complex, 1 oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $74

This little bottle has some super power ingredients. I have recently been doing tons of research on acids and I find them really interesting. The two ingredients that deserve the most attention in this formula are Azelaic Acid and Glycolic Acid. Azelaic Acid is super helpful for minimizing those pesky acne and blemish scars. Its friend Glycolic Acid is an incredible exfoliant, so after extended use, you will notice your skin looking brighter and feeling smoother. This formula is fragrance-free and absorbed quickly into my skin. As with any AHA products, be extra mindful of sun exposure!

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 leave in conditioner New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 leave in conditioner open New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 leave in conditioner back

Briogeo Rosarco Leave-In Conditioning Spray, 5 oz – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $20

This leave-in conditioner is super light, which is a win for me. I really dislike the heavier leave-ins because they weigh my hair down and make my hair too silky. What can I say? I like my natural texture! This has a very clean scent and tons of hair healthy ingredients such as rosehip, argan oil, and coconut oil.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 dew pot New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 dew pot utopia New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 dew pot swatch utopia

LaRitzy Dew Pot, 0.12 oz- FULL SIZE Retail Value $20.00

As seen on Liz above, this dew pot is a gorgeous rose gold color that will work well with most skin tones. You can use it as a highlighter or a cream shadow. It blended very easily and did not crease on my lid. I could also see it making a great primer for other coordinating metallic shadows.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 collagen New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 collagen detail New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 collagen open

YouTheory Collagen Powder, 1.89 oz- Estimated Value $4.53 (Buy 10 oz for $23.99, found here for $19.19)

This collagen powder has a vanilla scent added, making it perfect to mix in with your morning coffee or in my case Earl Grey. I didn’t notice much of a taste difference, which was good! I did have a hard time getting this to dissolve because it tends to clump when added to hot water. If collagen gives be better hair and stronger nails, I can deal with a little extra mixing effort.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 balm lid peppermint New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 balm lemon info New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 balm peppermint open

Beth Collins MD Pour Le Bouche Lemon Lip Balm FULL SIZE! Retail Value $6.99

Beth Collins is a world-renowned plastic surgeon operating a practice in Connecticut. She has her own product line that she created for her patients and it includes some really great skincare items. This lip balm is heavy duty, which is perfect for winter’s chill. I used this throughout the day and also applied it on extra thick as a lip sleeping mask. It is very effective! I appreciate it has minimal ingredients (lanolin, essential oil, and honey) but I could understand why this would be a no-go for my vegan beauty friends.

Beth Collins MD Pour Le Bouche Peppermint Lip Balm FULL SIZE! Retail Value $6.99

The second flavor of this lip balm is a bright potent peppermint. I keep this one in my purse and the lemon one at my bedside. The formulas are identical aside from the choice of essential oil.

New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 perricone serum New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 perricone serum back New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 perricone serum detail New Beauty Test Tube October 2018 perricone serum bottle

Perricone MD Face Firming Serum – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $99

WOW. I have been wanting to try this product but the price tag always scared me off. I was so thrilled to get this product. Fine lines are one of my main concerns in my early 30s and I am hoping this product might help me out in that area. I really only have the faintest of lines on the sides of my forehead but I am always looking for ways to reduce and prevent them. The brown frosted glass bottle is absolutely in line with my love of minimal product packaging and the serum has a light medicinal scent. I know it isn’t for everyone, but I really enjoy a more natural smell in my products. It absorbed quickly into my skin and didn’t leave me sticky. I used moisturizer after waiting a few minutes and it went on easily, avoiding that pilling effect that sometimes happens when you mix products. I am really looking forward to trying this our long-term and seeing if it is worth the hype!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $296.51. That’s an INSANE value compared to the $38.90 bi-monthly cost ($29.95 a box plus $8.95 shipping). All items except the collagen powder are full size, so in addition to an amazing value, you also get enough products to try out over a long period of time. If you are an anti-aging skincare nut like myself this box is a no-brainer for the Perricone MD serum all by itself, but with this box, you also get the amazing Glytone and night cream. I am blown away this month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Make sure to email [email protected] before you order to confirm which box will be your first shipment.

What do you think of the November NewBeauty TestTube?

Written by Megan Kirkland

Megan Kirkland

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. If anyone wants to get rid of their box, I would love to buy it off you!

  2. I’m so excited I just called CS and they said as long as I ordered tonight I’ll be getting November-December’s box!!! She said tonight was the cut off and on top of that I received a email with a 10$ discount code so everything was 30$!! Can’t wait to get my box! Talk about a superb value!

  3. I ordered this box really late in November, but I received this reviewed box. The customer service rep offered me the choice to start with this box or wait until the next one. Like others, I only received peppermint lip products too. I will use them, but since I really love lemon, I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get one of each. Other than that, this box is great.

    • I was really wanting this box. It looks amazing!! But when I tried to sign up in hopes for this box the cs lady told me I wouldn’t be receiving this box. So I decided to hold off and not sign up. I called once I read this wonderful review

      • I just called and was told as long as I ordered by tonight I’d get December’s box. You might wanna do it tonight if u really want this box! Good luck!

  4. I just received this box and very happy to try all-new-to-me products! I received 2 peppermint instead of one lemon which I wished to receive one each. Great value. If they offer free shipping like other sub boxes, I will stick around, but paying for shipping and receiving no tracking information is a little disappointing.

  5. Well dang. Test Tube was one of my first subscriptions and then I became really disappointed as time after time I found myself saddled with a bunch of drug store stuff. Looks like they have upped their game. Wish I had gotten this box.

  6. I really liked the box, but I received two peppermint lip balms instead of a peppermint and lemon. Disappointing for me because I hate mint scents/flavors!

  7. Imo, the New Beauty Test Tube has really stepped up their game. With the new packaging came a whole new Test Tube. I think this box is incredible. While I don’t like every product in the box, I am still more than satisfied with this month’s shipment. Way to go New Beauty!!!

  8. I wrote and asked about starting a sub yesterday and they twice confirmed this morning that this box is no longer available and the first box would be January/February. Yes, it is every other month. I am a former subscriber to this box and if I ever received a box as good as this one, I would never have cancelled. Whomever got this box was fortunate and I don’t think anyone would use all of the products but there are a lot of nice and unusual products in this one and I would have been happy to receive it.

    • I got an email from them yesterday offering me $10 off on a new subscription. I used another email address to subscribe. There was no code- just a link. I got an email confirming my new subscription was going to be November box. Has anyone else received this email?

      • Luna, I received this email a couple days ago and grabbed a second box. It shipped the next day, what an unbelievable deal! I ordered some other perricone items from them directly, their black Friday and 12 days deals are amazing!

  9. I emailed and was told I would receive the Nov/Dec box if I subbed by Dec 7.

    • That’s what I was told too

  10. I LOVED the lemon lip balm. I use it before bed and wake up with no dryness in my lips at all.

While I do think this box has a good value for the price, I really ended up not liking most of the products sadly. But that’s why we get subscription boxes, to try new things.

I will say their customer service is horrible. After a total of four emails over two months (which never got replies), first in regards to a bad product and then about canceling, and also messaging on social media, I still had not been able to get my subscription canceled. I checked back to their website a few days ago, and they finally now have the option to cancel directly through the website instead of saying you have to email them to cancel. So thank goodness for that. I’ve finally been able to cancel.

  11. I loved this months box except for the bath soak. I didn’t like how dark blue it made my water. I wish they would have left out the blue dye which I imagine, isn;t good for your skin. Also, the perricone md serum is okay and was super excited to try it, but it smells strongly of hair dye to me. I ended up only putting it on my skin a half and hour before my shower so I don’t smell all day. I’m hoping thats long enough for the ingredients to soak into my skin, I also wish they didn’t include 2 exfoliating products. The glytone is amazing, but the perricone md has glycolic acid in it too, but I just ended up rotating days. Overall, I’m happy about the box. I might get another one.

  12. Is this box still available?

  13. A few things about this box –
    – those salts make your bath tub look like you have a toilet bowl cleaning tablet in it! but i loved the smell, and it was very relaxing. i was in a car accident last week and i used this the next day to soak my aches, and it definitely helped calm me down. it smells like a fancy citronella candle.
    – the leave-in conditioning spray is very light in weight and scent.
    – the peppermint lip balm is STRONG. i smelled it as soon as i opened the main box. the test tube container still smells like it 2 weeks after i emptied it.
    – i don’t know if this is normal, but i think the perricone serum smells like hair perm chemicals. BUT, it did absorb quickly and i haven’t had any bad reactions or breakouts. it’s too soon to tell if it works, but with all the hype, i’m using this until it’s gone.
    – the collagen powder needs to be mixed with a liquid with flavor. i used water the first time and it was a struggle to get down. it’s not as bad as most protein powders, but it definitely should be paired with something else.

  14. This is my first box ! The only thing I won’t use is the collagen powder. It’s an amazing deal. I haven’t tried anything yet. I’m going to treat myself to some pampering in January!

    • Same here, that collagen powder is not for me. Plus it’s not worth swapping because of it’s bulk. I don’t want to toss it, but I don’t think I can give it away either 🤷

    • Did you just sign up? If so are they letting you receive this oct box?

      • I signed up October 25 and received this box.

    • I’ll buy the collagen

    • I know this response is late, but I finally used the collagen powder and want to share that it is GREAT in coffee. It mixed perfectly and although it says vanilla, I really could only taste coffee. There is even a little measuring cup included. I would gladly swap or purchase this from anyone, cuz this is definitely a product I will continue to use!!

  15. This was my first box with this sub and I am beyond thrilled with it. That Glytone stuff is no joke, my skin looks SO much better just after one week of use!

I can’t wait to see how they do with the next installment!

    • I have that up for swap right now, should I take it back, lol? Can I ask, in what way do you see a difference?
I’ve gotten 2-3 of these boxes and I love them. The value is so good, even if you only like 1-2 things, it’s worth it, imho. But I like almost everything.

      • Hahaha, same question! What are your skin concerns and what has it done?

    • I loved it too. It absolutely has been making a difference in my skin.

  16. Great box (or tube). This is actually my 1st time subscribing and super happy with this tube – but not so happy that they charged me twice! Customer service not replying to my emails too. I’m really frustrated. If they sent me two tubes that would be fine but charging me twice for just one? Argh.

    • 800) 313-0210
Call them, their customer service is awesome. Maybe not so quick on emails but I’ve never had a problem with calling them. Know that it is Thanksgiving week though so maybe no one is there till Monday after the holidays.

      • I just called and gale told me that if I were to sign up right now I would receive Decembers box 😐 even though I’m sure dec will be good. Oct is what I’m wanting.

        • I called and was told if I signed up right now my first box would be February (?????). I guess October is sold out, which is too bad as that was what I wanted.

          • Me too. And hmm maybe they just sold out of dec box then. Cuz she did tell me I would receive dec if I signed up

          • This is an every other month box. And I *think technically this is Nov/Dec. Maybe the reviewer can chime in. But that still makes it confusing. Because that means one person was told they’d get this and another would not, that they would get Jan/Feb. Good luck, why are phone call takers always so confused??

          • Gale the cs lady Told me the number of the box and looked up which box that was and she said it was the December box. She didn’t sound too confused at least LOL

          • I think Pamela is right that this reviewed box is actually Nov/Dec not Oct (the box reviewed in Sept would have been the Sept/Oct box). I also emailed TestTube and just got a response that my first box would be Nov/Dec. So now I’ve gotten two different answers to the same question 🤔. I went ahead and subscribed and will hope that I get this box. 🤞

          • That’s weird. I wrote them asking for this box by Instagram and they told me “hi! it sure is! you can subscribe at the link in bio! ❤️❤️ enjoy!”
I signed in, and the picture showed is the November one.

          • I concur with Pamela (and everyone else who said) that this is the November tube. Each test tube begins with every odd month (i.e. January, March, May, etc.), so this tube is the November/December tube. Test tube typically does ship their boxes toward the end of the month prior to that tube’s month (in this case, October), so on occasion someone could get a tube on the last day or two of the month prior to that tube’s month. I know that happened to me a few times when I was subscribed. (or maybe MSA just happened to get this extra early since it was sent to them for review purposes so the reviewer assumed it was October’s tube?).

    • I used to get an email reply the very next day or so, now I received an email that their email address has changed(along with other changes) so I emailed the new one and have not gotten a response in almost a month. I resent it a few weeks ago and still nothing, calling is your best bet. Their customer service has always been great!

  17. I want the lip balms!
