Now, on to the items!

Glossy Box November 2018 Georgia lotion Glossy Box November 2018 Georgia lotion box

Robin McGraw Georgia Moisturizing Hand Cream 3 fl oz- FULL SIZE! Retail Value $26.60

(This may be a variant item.)

I was told this brand is owned by Dr. Phil's wife, which kind of turned me off because I generally dislike celebrity makeup/skincare collaborations and I am no Dr. Phil fan. I decided to give this hand cream a fair try and actually ended up really liking the scent. Its a soft floral with a deep patchouli base that is much more sophisticated then I would have thought. The formula is super light and absorbs quickly. I plan on keeping this one close by my desk since the quick absorption means no downtime and the scent layers well with my favorite perfumes.

Glossy Box November 2018 cuticle oil Glossy Box November 2018 cuticle oil back

Lauren B. Beauty Repairative Cuticle Oil 0.34 fl oz- FULL SIZE! Retail Value $29.26

(This may be a variant item.)

Full disclosure: my nails are CRAP. Small, shapeless, peeling, everything awful. Gel manicures won't even stick to them for longer than a few days. For this reason, I generally have ignored them. I never paint them, use nail products, or pay much mind to them at all. We have a complicated relationship. I never would have taken it upon myself to purchase a cuticle oil. I figure this product might be a good excuse to give my baby nails a little long due pampering. Maybe they will surprise me? This oil smells so good! It has a very natural scent with major notes of ylang-ylang and lavender. It is also great for elbows and other chapped areas of skin, so when I inevitably give up on having great nail again, this product is still useful.

Glossy Box November 2018 dry oil spray Glossy Box November 2018 dry oil spray back

Kendra Dry Oil Control Spray– Travel-size (1.2 oz) Estimated Value $2.85 (Buy an 8oz size here for $19.00)

(This may be a variant item.)

I haven't really had much experience with the Kendra brand before. I like the idea of nourishing oil hairspray rather than a drying alcohol based one. This has a nice hold without weighing my hair down and had a very fresh scent. If I curl or wave my hair I can usually get the curls to last for around 4 days if I use the right product. I am on curl day 3 and they still look great with the help of this spray. It also cut way down on static and flyaways.

Glossy Box November 2018 lip glass Glossy Box November 2018 lip gloss detail Glossy Box November 2018 lip gloss open

Glossy Box November 2018 lip gloss swatch

Steve Laurant Eggplant Lip Gloss - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $22

(All subscribers get this item.)

This color is sexy! The formula has a ton of pigment and shine. I actually enjoyed how it matched the super cute burgundy box this month. It was very buildable too, so if dark vampy lips aren't your thing, just use less. I also found that it makes a great stain gloss, as when it wears mostly off it leaves behind a beautiful berry tint on my lips. My only complaint is that this formula didn't want to stay in the peaks of my cupid's bow and tended to slide around on my lips. Either way, the shade is worth the extra work for me!

Glossy Box November 2018 sheet masks Glossy Box November 2018 sheet mask back

HCR 3-IN-1 Sheet Mask, set of two - Retail Value $44 ($22 each, found here for $20 each)

(All subscribers get this item.)

I am pretty much a Korean sheet mask snob/devotee. This mask is made in the US but makes a ton of promises. It is also the heaviest mask I have ever held and has an almost perfume-like scent that I liked immediately. This mask does boast a list of skin superhero ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid. At $22 each, this is admittedly an incredibly expensive sheet mask. It had a TON of serum left over in the bag and dripped everywhere as I was applying it. The application was also a challenge because it had a chin extension part that I couldn't quite figure out how to attach properly. I did like the idea of my chin and upper neck getting spoiled with this mask too though! This mask was so saturated with serum that it ended up dripping into one of my eyes which was really unpleasant but I am blaming user error. While this mask will not be replacing my normal brands (certainly not for $22 a pop!) it was a nice one-time luxury. I gifted the other to a friend.

Verdict: This GlossyBox has a value of $124.71. That's an incredible value for the $21 cost. While a few of the higher cost items were not a part of my beauty routine or were much more expensive versions of some of my favorite beauty staples, this box was still a really fun experience and allowed me to try a few things that I normally would have never reached for, at a totally reasonable cost.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! If you sign up in the month of November, this will be your first box!

Value Breakdown: At $21.00 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Georgia Hand Cream-  $4.48
  • Cuticle Oil- $4.93
  • Hair Oil Spray- $0.48
  • Lip Gloss- $3.70
  • Sheet Masks- $7.41

Alternatively, each item in this box (when counting the two sheet masks as separate items) has an average cost of $4.20.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I just opened my November box (yes, I know I’m a weirdo), and I am *thrilled*! First, I love the box itself. It reminds me of the little storage boxes you can buy at Ross. I’ll definitely be using this to store some jewelry or nail polish or something. Second, not just one, but two luxury masks? I’m not sure why they included 2, but I’m glad they did, even though I haven’t used them yet. I love the color of the lip gloss, and I don’t believe it’s “fake.” Plus they do sell this color on their website, even though someone said they didn’t. I love cuticle care and am thrilled to try this. I’m surprised at the RV, though. Finally, I’m looking forward to trying the hand cream, although I kind of wonder if I could get a good swap out of it. 🤔

I could not use the hand cream at all once I read patchouli as an ingredient. I’m highly allergic to that and I don’t know why that would be in a hand cream. I liked everything else.

I got a fake as well. I’m so disappointed!!! After waiting a full two months to actually get my November box, I see the lip Gloss is not authentic. I feel like I’ve lost some respect for the company. I had total trust in them. I am not sure I will be recommending this subscription box on my blog anymore:(

I just used one of the masks, I came looking for this review to see if the experience matched, sure enough it is the heaviest wettest drippiest mask I’ve ever used! It feels nice and the serum is not sticky but there’s enough serum in there for three more masks! I think I might gift the other one too but I do definitely like trying fancy masks I wouldn’t otherwise buy myself 🙂

I got the Cyber Monday deal and thought I was getting this box, but they sent something totally different and random! I got SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty, which I understand is their Advent box. I wanted to get the Glossybox Advent box but couldn’t fork out that after paying for a year upfront, but I’m so confused as to why they sent this. Anyone else have this happen? I saw on your Cyber Monday post that one other person did (in fact her post is what made me realize that the package came from Glossybox).. but I’m curious if anyone else had this? Or were we supposed to get this box? That was my understanding. I’m curious if that SkinStore box counts towards the 12 boxes I paid for..

I got the SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty and had no idea where it came from. So glad I saw your post. I shop too much and thought I may have bought it and forgot lol.

I am sooo glad I read this review! Just the smell of patchouli sends me into a dangerous breathing problem. Even if it didn’t I can not stand the smell so I will be gifting the hand cream. Other than that, I like the rest of the box. I’m happy to see a product for cuticles. Mine are so dry they split and it hurts, ouchie!

Mine get extra angry in the winter so I plan on showing them some love for once! 🙂

I subscribed the second I saw the box design. I don’t care for sheet masks – these will be gifted. I am confused by the presence of oil in a hairspray – if I have oily hair, how’s that supposed to work? Steve Laurant is another brand made in China like Doucce, Manna Kadar or LaRitzy. Besides a dark lip gloss reads unholy mess to me. The cuticle oil is absolutely adorable and super useful. Hand cream is another score. Keeping 2 items, gifting 3. Not bad.

Both the cuticle oil and hand cream smell amazing. 🙂

Beautiful box. The actual box.

Megan, could you please address the spelling discrepancies for the lip gloss? What is glossybox’s response for this? I feel that the review should address the difference please.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

UPDATE: Same response as others. Older mold. Some mysteries elude even me.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Just an update that I haven’t forgotten this! Still waiting in some info. I think Thanksgiving has slowed everything down a little!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I need a little bit more info from GlossyBox before I can even hazard a guess. We will have someone from the team reach out to them and see what they say! I will update when I get more info!

Thank you, appreciate it!

Reese

I emailed glossy about this and they *claim* it was an old print. I can’t personally verify that a V was every used in place of a U?…but here’s the response I got:

Hello Reese,

Thank you for getting in touch about your subscription.

We are so sorry for this confusion, the brand has informed us that this is just a simple mistake and an old mold was used to print a few products. We want to assure you that all products included in our boxes are authentic and provided from the brand themselves.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,
Dominique

Also ( and I know I’m nitpicking, I’m just tired of Glossy doing this), this company started with their first Instagram post of May 2017 with the current spelling and looks like that’s when they started doing business,so how can this be an old mold?!

Megan

Thanks for the info! Seems a bit odd to me, am I the only one? Feels like basically a way to get rid of reject inventory, so I personally don’t feel the calculated value in the review should be the same as regular retail since they aren’t selling this on their website, just my opinion🤷‍♀️

Lori

Do you use the Kenra spray before or after you curl to prolong them? TIA!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I use after curling and keep it far away from my roots. You can also use dry shampoo on top of it for a little extra va-va-voom if you find them going a little flat over the next few days. I also always sleep with my hair ‘pineappled’ to keep them from going frizzy and create volume ontop of my head.

Reply ButtonReply

Pamela

Megan, lol what on earth does pineappled mean?

Nikkim

“My baby nails” lol that killed me

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

That’s what they called them at my local nail place! One lady actually charged me for a kid’s manicure once. I was mortified but also pleased. After the polish peeled off after ONE FREAKING DAY I just gave up.

I’m super happy with this month’s box. The lip gloss is such a gorgeous wine shade. The hand lotion smells beautifully and is quite silky. All in all, I’m delighted with the box. I also received the L.E. holiday box and wow… it’s fabulous.

The lip gloss box says Steve Laurant, but the name on the actual lip gloss is misspelled as Steve “Lavrant.”

Good eye! It doesn’t look like any of their glosses on the actual site are spelled that way. I hope it’s not counterfeit! I wasn’t too hot on the products this month anyways, so I think the doubt I now have on the legitimacy of the lip gloss have swayed me to not re-subscribe just for the box…. of course unless others comment that that’s how some of Steve Laurant’s older products used to be spelled like, then I might reconsider.

Megan K.

We are going to see if we can get a response from GlossyBox about this issue. I will update when I get info! If it makes you feel any better, the formula smells good and feels like great quality.

this is why I cancelled, price to high for low products…

Note that the RV of the hand cream is actually $20 per the Robin McGraw website. Glossybox listed the correct $20 value in the booklet that came inside this box, too, so it is strange that they are selling it on glossybox.com for $26.60 right now.

Luna

Ugh, I’m so tempted to re-subscribe just for the box. Its coloring is so beautiful to me! I’m currently using that dry oil hairspray which I got in an Ulta gwp, and I really like it! For me, I can’t even smell anything when I use it, which is such a pleasant change when using a hairspray. At least I know I’ll like one thing in the November box, but I still need to think about it.
