Frank And Oak Style Plan for Men November 2018 Review

When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). You’ll also be able to set a budget for different types of clothing that could be included.

Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up shows you the items that have been selected for you. You can switch out the chosen items for others on this page if you desire. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more or less than three if you’d like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it’s a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.

Here’s the invoice for the three pieces John ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn’t know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you’ll see on their packaging and paperwork!)

I remembered to snap a screenshot of the selection process this month! The top 3 items were the ones pre-selected for John. The rest of the items can be added to his order or he can switch out the pre-selected items. He like the pants and shirt picked for him, but the boots were a bit too expensive so, he switched them out for another pair of shoes. He really liked the parkas (bottom row), and although they look really nice, they are out of our price range. Let’s see what he ended up choosing!

Poplin Pepita Mini Check Shirt in Navy, Size L - Retail Value $69.50, Member Price $54.50

John decided he should pose in front of our massive rubbish piles from the huge oak that we lost during hurricane Florence. They are just now being removed. While it looks like a mess, I think he looks sharp! This 100% cotton shirt has a smooth, soft feel and a texture similar to seersucker. The small navy check pattern pairs well with colored pants or denim and can be dressed up or down. Even though this is a slim fit shirt, John feels really comfortable and his movement isn't restricted.

The Newport Straight Chino in Dark Wine, Size 34x34 - Retail Value $59.50, Member Price $49.50

John received a pair of pants similar to this in another box. He loved them but we had to send them back since they were rentals. The universe must have known his heartbreak because these were picked for him this month. I'm loving the wine color and think it is a great alternate neutral for fall. The 97% cotton/3% spandex means these are soft yet structured and have just enough stretch to make them comfy. Like the other pants John has gotten from F+O, he'll have to get these hemmed since they are too long for him. But $10 for hemming isn't bad considering the price and quality of these are so good. Sidenote: One day I will learn to hem...

Vans Old Skool in Navy/Blue/White, Size 10 - Retail Value $80, Member Price $74

This is the only item John decided to switch out this month and I think it was a good call for him. He has no casual tennis shoes and was really drawn to the blue and white contrast. I like the classic style and crisp lines and think these can take John through any season. We just need to get him some no-show socks (slowly but surely, everyone). I think he was surprised at how comfortable these are since he mostly wears his slippers or running shoes.

The Verdict: Since John started receiving Frank And Oak's style plan, his wardrobe has not only improved in style but also in fit and quality. He likes the fabrics, colors, and comfort factor of their clothing and that they take measures to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. I appreciate that he can make edits to his selections ahead of time to increase the chances of him loving all of the items. I'm super pleased that the Vans were part of his choices this month since they are so different than the normal items. The price vs. quality is great and we've had positive experiences with the Frank And Oak Customer Service when we have had questions.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the $25 styling fee plan, boxes ship automatically on the 1st of the month, and you can log in 2 days before shipment to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!

Exclusive Deal: Use this link to get your first box with no styling fee!

Value Breakdown: This month's member price was $178.50 for the three items John received this month. The regular retail total is $209. He kept everything, so the $25 styling fee was waived.

I had those vans back in the day. $80 is crazy but maybe it’s a location thing? I’m in San Diego so maybe they’re cheaper here because we have vans outlets and stores. Who knows. Regardless, they’re definitely old skool and rad.

I didn’t even think about that. $80 is crazy. I paid $59 for my High-tops. I guess Frank and Oak has to make their money where they can.
