Fortune Cookie Soap “Unite The League” November 2018 Review
This box comes with a mini handbook detailing the products, their prices, how to use it, the unique scent, and ingredients. One thing of note: I have purchased from the Fortune Cookie Soap website several times, and all of the listed prices match up with what I have seen available for sale once the collection becomes available.
Flash Solid Perfume, 0.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $9.99
This solid perfume is a great way to keep fragrance with you as you travel. It not only smells delicious thanks to the scent notes of nutmeg, candied apricot, and November breeze, it also is hydrating wherever you apply it thanks to the Jojoba seed oil and Candelilla wax. This is a really light and delicate fragrance for me, with the main scent really reminding me of a cool breeze with a bit of apricot.
Atlantis Bubbling Bath Salts, 13.1 oz - Listed Retail Value $12.99
Y'all know I love me some bath products so I am super happy to see this big container of bubbling bath salts! Not only are they gorgeous, but they also smell like an ocean breeze. The official scent description is salt water, nectarines, lemon sea leaves, water lilies, and weathered driftwood. It really does smell as amazing as it sounds, and they created some lovely fragranced bubbles for me to enjoy. Only a little bit of salts turned my water blue, so this jar should make quite a few fun baths.
Symbol of Hope Facial Cleansing Oil, 2.1 oz - Listed Retail Value $16.99
I really enjoy using cleansing oils as the first step in a double-cleanse routine, and I was happy with the way this one performed. It has a light and thin texture that spread easily and washed off with no residue. The scent notes of green apple, persimmon puree, and thyme are faint but present, and after using my skin felt silky smooth.
Brightest Day Blackest Night Body Wash, 4 oz - Listed Retail Value $7.99
This BRIGHT green body wash is scented with a comforting blend of warm honey and spiced red plums. As far as body washes go this gets me clean, but nothing about it is particularly special. I prefer using whipped soaps to clean my skin with, so lately I have been trying out using body wash in bath cocktails. Mixing this plus the bath salts created a lovely mound of bubbles that smelled heavenly!
The Dark Knight Bar Soap – Listed Retail Value $10.99
I am not trying to be a negative Nancy, but there is no way I would ever pay $11 for a bar of soap… I almost wonder if that is a typo. I liked the packaging of this soap until I realized it was essentially impossible to get the soap out with an Exacto knife or scissors, which I never enjoy using on hard plastic. The scent is described as dark cedar, vanilla, cranberry, and autumn mist. I didn't really pick up on any cedar or vanilla, and the soap smelled a bit powdery to me.
Lasso of Truth Body Frosting, 2.8 oz - Listed Retail Value $12.99
I can see why they call this a body frosting- it has the texture of a cold frosting, and it is piped beautifully into the container. It melts into your skin as soon as you start rubbing it in, and it is so hydrating and luscious. This is my favorite scent in the box, too, with notes of grapefruit, dried jasmine petals, soft sandalwood, and Amazonian musk.
Boo-Yah! It’s a Doodie Toilet Spray, 2.1 oz - Listed Retail Value $9.99
This works exactly like Poo-pouri if you have tried that before, and I am always happy to have these products to keep my bathroom well stocked. This has scent notes of blackberry, sweet orange citrus, and a touch of red delicious apple.
The Verdict: Overall I thought this was a solid month from Fortune Cookie Soap Box, but I have to admit I am excited for the changes that are being made to the subscription model (check out our post to learn about it). While the themes are creative if you're not a part of the fandom these products won't really rock your world. That being said I am absolutely in love with the body frosting, and I am going to try and get my hands on more. Value-wise, the listed values of everything in this box adds up to $81.93.
