The Soap Shack’s The Soap Club “Surprise Me” September 2018 Review

Heavenly White Gardenia Handmade Soap Bar, 3.5 oz – Retail Value $6.50

This month’s soap is very feminine to my nose, and I have no complaints! The white gardenia scent of heavenly is a very soft floral note, and it is combined with ylang and lily for an overall scent that is like a gentle bouquet of beautiful flowers. As always, this soap does a great job of really cleaning my skin without leaving it too stripped thanks to the olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter ingredients.

Calm Down Vanilla Verbena Handmade Soap Bar, 3.5 oz – Retail Value $3.50

This vanilla scented soap has the calming scent of vanilla bean without being too sugary the way some other vanilla scents can be. Along with the classic olive oil base, ground vanilla beans were added to the soap to give off the genuine scent of my personal favorite ice cream flavor. Another special aspect with these soaps are the labels are embedded with seeds—you can plant them and grow California wildflowers wherever you are in the country!

The Verdict: For $12.95 a month, including free shipping, I think this is one of the better affordable bath and body subscription boxes out there! The fact that The Soap Shack only uses food-grade quality oils and butter is evident when using the soap, and I thought being surprised by the scent choices was a rather inexpensive delight (how many times are we actually surprised by items in a subscription box these days considering our need for spoilers?). I loved the delicate fragrances of my soaps this month, and I look forward to seeing what surprise is in store next!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? I believe you will start with October, but the Xoxoxo bar is available for purchase from their website!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $12.95 and I received two bars of soap. The perk of subscribing vs buying the soaps outright is that shipping is included in the subscription box price, so you are saving a few dollars while still getting high-quality soap!

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.
