ShoeDazzle is a monthly shoe, clothing, and accessories subscription service. You can shop their merchandise like normal retail, but they have a VIP subscription that gives you better prices – many styles are only $39.95 (or less) for VIPs. When you sign up for a membership, you complete a style profile. On the 1st of every month, they release new styles, and you can pick any item you want - either from your personal "Showroom" or across the site. You can also skip the month. However, if you don’t pick or skip, you get charged $39.95 store credit to spend any time.
This model is similar to how JustFab, Fabletics, and AdoreMe work. (Which makes sense, as JustFab, Fabletics, and Shoedazzle exist under the same umbrella company!)
My Subscription Addiction pays for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes)

Shoedazzle Fall Over the Knee Boots Review - October 2018
I got a coupon for Naked Wines in this month's package! Coupons like this almost always appear in my ShoeDazzle boxes.
Lilou Mixed Material Boot, Size 8 - Retail Value $84.95, Member Price $46.95
I LOVE the look of OTK boots. Slipped over a pair of skinny jeans or worn under a short skirt or dress? Adorable. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding over the knee boots that work for my legs. I'm 5' 3" with relatively short legs. My calves are pretty standard, width-wise, but my thighs are on the wider side. Some of the first boots I got from Shoedazzle were an OTK style that I got in wide-calf, just to accommodate for my pudgy knees. I found them a little slouchy when worn without jeans/leggings, and after wearing them around a bit more, I noticed that they tended to sink down over my skinnies, too. Not ideal, especially when my favorite part about the OTK look is how sleek it can be.
Long story short, I opted for a regular ol' size 8 when ordering this pair of black boots rather than going for the wide-calf choice. My thinking was that since these boots have stretch-fabric backs, they would probably allow enough give without being slouchy. But it looks like I might've misjudged the fit just a bit!
I first tried these boots on over skinny jeans—or, I tried to try them on. The scuba-like stretch fabric did NOT want to shimmy up over my denim jeans no matter how hard I pulled! After a few tries, I switched my jeans out for thin, smooth leggings to see if they'd work in that scenario. (Plus, I could see myself wearing these over leggings or thicker tights in the winter.) While they did go on much more easily, you can probably tell from the photos that my upper calves (especially right up around my knees) are pretty sausaged in there. What's frustrating is that the boots fit great through my feet, ankles, and calves. It's just that they're cut a bit too straight to work with my knee pudge. To be clear, they do "fit", but the tight upper edge of the boot shaft really digs into my legs in a way that 1) isn't that comfy and 2) doesn't seem like it'd be secure enough to stay put during an afternoon walk down the street.
But of course, I'm only bummed that these boots didn't work because I like them so much! The style is right up my alley with the faux-suede fabric and radiant gold accents. The faux-leather strip up the back classes up the stretch fabric panels, too. They're exactly the kind of look I'd want to sport this fall. They just aren't quite the right shape for my body. Wahhhh! 😭
The Verdict: So I didn't have the greatest luck with this pair of boots. Le sigh, le sigh. But I'm still a big ShoezDazzle fan, and here's why: first of all, returns and exchanges are easy—you can print a free return shipping label via your account and return/exchange merchandise within 30 days. (There are some exceptions, but you can see all the details here.) The quality of what I've gotten feels parallel to the trend-conscious pieces I'd find at my local department store, and the price point seems fair for what you get. And most importantly, I just really like the selection. Now, be forewarned—Shoedazzle isn't for everyone. They do offer some more classic, crowd-pleasing styles (like the black fall booties I got last month, which I am looooooving), but the vibe of the site is very trend-focused. Of-the-moment color palettes and patterns, sexy silhouettes, and seasonal statement pieces make up the brunt of the offerings, with some basics and staple pieces mixed in for good measure. If that's your style, I highly recommend taking a look at Shoedazzle! (And I mean, have you SEEN the $10 intro special they have going on right now?!) If not, you might want to look elsewhere for your fashion fix.
