Ipsy Glam Bag Plus October 2018 "GLOW " Halloween Makeup Tutorial

With Halloween almost here, we thought it'd be the perfect time to grab the bright Smashbox Cover Shot: Bold Glitter eye palette along with the Morphe highlighter and Eyeko eyeliner included in October's box to make a fun 80s look inspired by the Netflix series GLOW. We invited local makeup artist Brazil Raine to use the items from this box to make my Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling dreams come true!

Ready for it? LET'S GO!

After getting a nice base of foundation and primer on me, Brazil started with the "Gold Digger" shade of eyeshadow on the inner corners of my eyes.

Next, she used "Seapunked" on my mid-eyelid which is probably my favorite color from the palette. I love a bright blue!

Brazil then added "Let's Reflect" on the outer corners, blended it into the crease, and smudged it on my lower lash line to create an extended "cat eye" effect.

She then took "Pinky Ring" and blended over the "Let's Reflect" shade to give it more dimension.

For the last eyeshadow step, she blended "Glonut" under my brow and into my temples for some subtle drama.

To really get my eyes to pop, she used the included Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in black applied as an extended cat eye and tapered it into my lower lash line.

To finish the eye look, she used Ardell Wispies 113 lashes and the included TARTE Maneater Voluptuous Mascara to get the falsies to stick to my natural lashes. I learned this valuable tip to make lashes WAY more comfortable to wear. Trust me, it makes a world of difference! In addition, she used the Anastasia Cream Contour Kit Light in the hollows of my cheekbones, around my jawline, and across the top of my forehead using a fluffy contour brush from Sephora.

Brazil then used the included Morphe Highlighter in Extra to finish off my face and really highlight my cheekbones.

She wanted to do a really bold lip for this look so she started with Smashbox Be Legendary Pucker Up Lipstick in shades Cognac and Coffee Run and went back to the Smashbox Cover Shot Bold Glitter Palette to dab "Pinky Ring" all over my lips (careful, glitter WILL get into your mouth) and then "Gold Digger" at the center of lips to add even more glitz.

Obviously, this look couldn't be finished without some BIG HAIR. She used Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite and Kenra Platinum Heat Block Spray 22 to get my normally bone-straight hair to puff up to what you see before you. There was a whole lot of teasing going on and, surprisingly, this stayed put for the entire workday.

What I learned: I look exactly like my mother in the 80s with this look. But seriously- this palette has some wild colors which lent itself well for this bold and colorful look. If a palette contains colors you wouldn't wear on a normal day, think about how else you could use it. A costume look like this, or even as a completely different type of makeup like blush, highlighter, or even lip color in the right way!

Marne, Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! I love these looks and so appreciate MSA including the step by step. I’ve rocked this twice since you posted it, paired with the Touch in Sol medallist liquid foil lipstick duo (from PS,I believe). Compliments each time! Thank you again!

This tutorial is awesome! I might even try a toned-down version of the eye for a date night. Love seeing ways to use the items in the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. That glitter palette is my most favorite thing I have received in a sub for a very long time.

I’m dying. This is everything. I was never going to touch that palette…EVER. Now, I’m going to go and dig it out and re-create your fantastic G.L.O.W. look. I caught my husband binge-watching this. He was so embarrassed. He should have been. haha.

Everyone that got this palette should surprise their significant others and/or roommates and/or children with this exact look. It’s gooooood. Please ask Brazil to give us some more everyday looks, haha!

First off, that’s an amazing look. So fun.

Second, are the eyelashes attached JUST using mascara or mascara AND eyelash glue? If it’s just mascara, how?

I’m miserable at getting fake eyelashes on, but love the look. I need all the tips I can get!!

The false lashes are attached using lash glue, but they feel SUPER WEIRD until adding the mascara. I am also terrible at using fake lashes and am glad Brazil was here to help. I did some myself last year and threw some tips in there (although looking back I’d prefer to add the mascara after instead of before): https://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/2017/07/le-metier-de-beaute-beauty-vault-vip-review-june-2017.html

I LOVE tutorials like this for folks who might not usually use that palette. thank you so much! I was thrilled to get it, and it’s one of my favorite recent items in any sub box. I’ve used it a couple times already, but I always forget I can use glitter on my lips, too.
