Box of Happies September 2018 Box

Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans. There are three subscription options: Box of Happies Mini for $17.99 a month, Box of Happies Full for $29.99 a month, and a new monthly Grab Bag for $10.00 a month.

This is a review of the $29.99 a month Box of Happies Full box.

Box of Happies September 2018 Review

If you like jewelry that’s generally delicate and handmade items from Etsy and similar artisans, Box of Happies delivers those things every month. The items are also usually packaged nicely for gifting if something isn’t to your taste:

Box of Happies September 2018 Booklet

Box of Happies September 2018 Business Card

You’ll usually get a little card with basic information about the items as well as a Box of Happies business card. The information cards have a new design this month.

Box of Happies September 2018 Candle 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Candle 2

Napa Uncorked Travel Tin Soy Candle in Champagne Pear, 2 oz. jar – Retail Value $3

One thing you always have to wonder about when considering an Etsy purchase of something scented is whether or not you will actually like it. Getting to sample items like this is a great feature of Box of Happies; it gives me confidence if I later want to buy something from this shop. Anyway, this smells very nice and burns cleanly. I am a fan!

Box of Happies September 2018 Cup Holder

Handmade Nstitches by Nikki Coffee Cozy – Retail Value $6

This exact item isn’t available in the Handmade Nstitches by Nikki Etsy shop, but their other coffee cozies are $6. I like the idea of having a reusable item like this instead of just throwing away a paper one each time (and suspect this provides better protection for your hand as well). This has gone into my purse so I will have it with me when I buy tea at the gas station next time.

Box of Happies September 2018 Earrings 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Earrings 2

Box of Happies Earrings – Listed Value $12

This is a jewelry-heavy subscription and often includes pierced earrings, so just be forewarned. However, if there is ever an item that doesn’t work for you, it will usually be packaged nicely for gifting. I have been wanting to do more work with leather and faux leather in my own jewelry-making and these give me some ideas. They are nice for a more casual look and they aren’t too heavy.

Box of Happies September 2018 Necklace 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Necklace 2

Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $15

This is just the cutest tiny pumpkin. Although Box of Happies doesn’t usually have a theme, this is the first of two pumpkin items for the month. Which I think works well for fall, in general, not just Halloween.

Box of Happies September 2018 Ring 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Ring 2

Box of Happies Ring – Listed Value $15

This is adjustable. I would not normally wear it on my wedding ring finger but I had to take the photo with my right hand due to camera set-up. Anyway, I actually really like this and can see myself wearing it fairly often.

Box of Happies September 2018 Scrub 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Scrub 2

Shimmer Lips by Stacey Whipped Lip Scrub – Retail Value $1.50

I’m not sure what flavor this is (maybe mint mojito?) but it is a pretty effective lip scrub. I’ve been wearing a lot of lip stains lately and they can be hard to get off. A good scrub helps and I like to replace them fairly often since I don’t know how hygienic it is to always be dipping your finger into them. This one has a small size and may actually get used up, though.

Box of Happies September 2018 Soap 1 Box of Happies September 2018 Soap 2

Pumpkin Soap from Heffernan’s Little Craft Shop – Retail Value $5

This is listed as a bonus item. I know we received some of these last year, too, because I still have them. (I think they are too cute to actually use. I’d rather look at them!) There is lots of cute Halloween stuff in this shop right now if you want to go have a look around.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $57.50 for the September 2018 Box of Happies. That’s a really good value for this subscription. I also felt like there was a little bit more of a theme this month than usual, with so many items reminding me of fall (soap and necklace, candle, coffee cozy). Plus I discovered a bunch of new Etsy shops, which is always fun.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first box would be October's. Sometimes past boxes or past box items go on sale in their shop, though.

Just looks so amateurish and depressing. No thanks!

This was my first box and I was so very disappointed! Everything looked so CHEAP! The pumpkin necklace was really for a child as well as the teensy weensy stone earrings. Everything was given to the Salvation Army except the lip scrub and candle. My bonus gift was a tiny bundle of potpourri–or at least that is what I think it might be,
Try to cancel!!!! Unless you have Outlook, you can;t cancel! I don’t have Outlook and haven’t had Outlook in years! There is no email posted ion their site. If you press the CONTACT US button, what happens?— you are sent back to Outlook and Outlook does not have an email address on it. It’s a Catch-22! I physically wrote them a letter to the P.O. address listed on the pkg. It’s been at least 5 days now and i haven;t heard from them. Moreover, I’ve been charged for the October box. If I don’t hear from them within the next 2 weeks, I will have to drive to a computer repair store and ask them to send Happies an email via Outlook. I am not happy!

If you hover over the EMAIL button, the address comes up as [email protected]. It’s a little odd that they would use a public domain account, but I assume it’s credible.

Their email is
[email protected]

Try that from whatever mail server you use. I agree, they make it difficult to find that information.

If you go to their contact page and hover your mouse over the email button (don’t click, just hover over), in the lower left corner of your browser, you will see an email address. It is possible the return address is a warehouse or facility that does not accept incoming mail.

Also, this subscription is now on Cratejoy so you may be able to cancel through your Cratejoy account.

Thank you so very much. I was able to send them a cancellation email! I appreciate you! Thank you for taking the time to help!

The lip scrub says Lemon Drop on the lid.

Yeah, I noticed that later. I can’t actually see close up/stylized text very well with my contacts in.

That ring looks remarkably like a ring that I bought in a Jewelmint Jewelry sub. It was by a designer (I think from Greece?). Same exact shape and style just different colored metal and stones. It is pretty and did cost much more than $15.00. Nice Fall items🍂
