Another disappointment with the October box. I used to love the products Birchbox sent out, now just a bunch of tiny samples. I have many other boxes I get that are so much better. So sad, sorry to say you lost me as a customer and i have been one for years.

I ordered a 6 month sub and it looks like i got the Sept box and not the October box. (According to my profile). I didn’t get an email so I have no idea what’s happening!

I canceled.

Another box of crap.

I will not re-up.

Mine won’t show my samples. It says that they are still prepping it, but it also says that it has shipped, so I’m pretty confused.

I am pretty easy going about the boxes I subscribe to and get that it is a great deal regardless of what you end up getting. BUT… I am literally getting the curated box even though I chose sample choice. Nothing I hate in it, but if I wanted that curated box than I would have selected it. So strange…

My two boxes look good. What I don’t want I know will swap well.

For some reason I’m getting six samples this month…I’ve refreshed and refreshed and it doesn’t change. I canceled and resumed and ever since my boxes have been on point every month after a year of terrible boxes.

I’m getting
Malin+Goetz -my choice
Manna Kadar lippie
Estée Lauder overnight eye serum
Oribe
Bumble and bumble
Air repair serum

I’m just really not sure why I’m getting a 6th item though…

Birchbox will occasionally sends a foil packets and it’s considered a 6th bonus item. In the beauty profile one of the last questions asked is would you be interested in receiving a 6th bonus packet? On occasion. Most likely the the Estée Lauder is the foil packet. But, that being said on VERY rare occasions some people do end up with 6th bonus sample that’s not a foil packet.

Emma

Sometimes the sixth item is a foil.

Courtney, I had the same happen to me too. Had several months of dismal boxes, cancelled, then resubbed several months later and I am so much happier!

I’m so glad I cancelled. Too many tiny size repeat products!

My box sucks. Again. Can’t wait for my year sub to be over so I can cancel.

I’m getting:

Malin+Goetz vitamin e face moisturizer (my sample choice)
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream
Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Mask
Bumble and bumble Thickening Go Big Treatment

I don’t use eyeliners, so I’ll pass that off to my niece. Otherwise, I’m pretty happy with my other items. I’m not familiar with Supergoop!, so that’s the biggest unknown, but I do like clay masks. I’m looking forward to trying the Bumble and bumble treatment.

This is my first month and I am a little confused. It says ‘my selected sample and 4 personalized samples’ are on their way – but then it shows five products (none of which are my selected sample.) Does this mean my selected sample [Winky Lux highlighter] will replace one of those five? Or does it mean all five come plus the sample?

I’m a little disappointed as of the five products it shows one is a mascara (rarely wear) and *two* are hair care (I’d be happy with one, but two in one box is overkill for me.) The hydramemory cream gel looks interesting (hope it’s not a crazy small size) and the Stilla liquid lip is probably fine – not sure about the shade it shows but maybe it’s better in person.

It looks like we are getting the same or similiar first boxes. I’m getting Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick, Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle, Number 4™ Jour d’automne Smoothing Balm, M·A·C Cosmetics In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara and [ comfort zone ] Hydramemory Cream Gel. I’m disappointed in getting two hair products too.

I *think* you’ll get the Winky Lux highlighter in your second box, the October box. The box with the Stila is your September box. I’m a newbie too though so this could be wrong. I chose the curated box for October when I saw how bad the first box was.

Jennifer

Yep, those are the same products I am getting! It says my Winky highlighter is coming with the other products, so I assume it will all be in the same box. It does label the box as the September box. Theoretically, I should also be getting the Wanderout lipstick duo promo bonus I signed up for. They actually sent an email with a picture of the Stila lipstick and the name (Patina Shimmer) which I like way better than the nude looking picture that was showing with my samples. It’s a pretty dusty purple rose – not sure if it will look good or not on me but it stands a better chance than a skin tone nude one.

I think I am going to remove all hair concerns from my profile as I probably don’t need more hair care for a while.

How did you pick your October box already?

Jennifer

Hmm maybe one of the five is a bonus foil packet – I did mark I was OK with those in my profile.

Can’t say i’m stoked about my box reveal. I’m new to the subscription boxes, this is my 3rd month receiving them, and Ipsy and Birchbox are kinda eh. I really like Sephora Play and Macy Beauty box most as I’ve enjoyed those items more. I may stick around another month for Ipsy and Birch but not sure yet. I wish there was a way to request no make up as I dont wear it, beside mascara. I keep getting make up tools and other make up I just dont use.

Michelle

Are you more interested in skincare? You may want to consider beautyfix. It’s more expensive at $25, but way less focused on makeup.

Tat

Beautyfix is excellent!

Val

Yes, I do prefer skin care. Thanks for the recommendation. I will look into it. 🙂

Emma

Another month, another eyeko eyeliner in a subscription box…

I am also getting the purlisse bb cream, which I think was too dark; the davines spray; the sand and sky; and an air repair cream.

I am not super stoked but I did want to cut back on all the makeup and focus on skin care, so I guess this works out okay.

I’m getting;
– Malin + Goetz moisterizer- Happy with
– Oribe Finishing Spray- Excited for this one!
– Purlisse BB Cream- Excited for was. I was running out
– Winky Lux Strobing highlighter- Happy with
– Bumble and Bumble thickening go big- Happy with

I am happy. Most excited for Oribe product but nothing is a let down and that is impressive.

I’m getting the Melu hair protectant spray (my choice), the R+Co acid wash, Sand & Sky clay mask, Air Repair face serum, and a Lisa Watier eye pencil (hope it’s not basic black!). Pretty happy this month with the new hair and face products.

Did anyone else sign up for a 3 month sub and get an email apologizing for not having a September box shipped (due to low inventory) and to make up for it, they will not charge for the next box….or if you have a prepaid sub they will add one to the end of your term? I just logged in and it says I still only have 2 more boxes left. Just wondering if anyone’s account actually matches what they said in the email. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Hi. I ordered an annual subscription and received the same email. My understanding is the if you have a prepaid subscription they will be adding an extra box at no cost on to the end of your subscription.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

…unless I misunderstand and it’s more for people that have monthly plans (they paid for September but won’t get charged for October since they never received a September box). I guess they aren’t “giving away” an additional box as an apology….
