CHC Lingerie September 2018 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month.  But that’s part of the fun!  This was my first time receiving the lingerie subscription:

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. This subscription pushes the idea of lingerie as outerwear (you can see some examples on their website) but I don’t have quite the right accessories to make the outerwear concept work with the piece I received this month (though the suggestions in the card are helpful if I am looking to go shopping). Actually, my wardrobe is lacking in really basic items because I never bought them after I lost weight in 2016. Totally my fault.

1950s/1960s Negligee

I said I preferred a more modest style when asked about my preferences, and I also mentioned liking bright colors (including hot pink) so I was definitely happy to see this color. (I am not quite bold enough to model this for you and the pictures might be NSFW anyway…also, FYI, I don’t have a dress model.)

This fits well. I added some comments to the stylists regarding my strange sizing (like different parts of my body run the range from XS through nearly M) and I definitely think those were taken into account.

It is also in really, really good condition. Here are some additional shots:

The lace was in wonderful shape and definitely added to the overall look.

And the fabric was clean with no rips or tears or stains (the outer layer was see-through although there was a lining from the waist down). One thing CHC Vintage does a great job of is finding and sending high-quality pieces but if you ever have a problem they are definitely willing to work with you to make it right.

Verdict: I had only the vaguest notion of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Lingerie subscription, basically just the pictures on their website. Although I did give some preferences for things I might like, I didn’t strongly oppose any options (I mean, I still wear slips sometimes, even though I know they are much less popular than they once were), so there was still a good deal of surprise in my shipment, which is part of the fun. I received a pretty and feminine negligee in a color I absolutely love, and it fits quite well, and I feel like my preferences were taken into consideration, so I am happy with my first shipment!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, every box is different based on your style and size preferences.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $30.00, including free shipping (though note that you have to sign up for at least 3 months at one time, for a total of $90.00) for one vintage lingerie item each month.

The color is so pretty and it looks brand new. I have this sub as well. So far received few night skirts, all in good condition. Absolutely love it.

Wow does this bring back memories of my mom!! Those were the kind of “nighties” she wore all the time.

A used underwear subscription?
…I thought I’d seen everything

Hmm, I don’t really think of lingerie as underwear. When I saw the title I was picturing lacy peignoirs and silky robes.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure you never receive actual panties!

But, nightgowns and slips/half slips and robes and such, those are all fair game.

I still wear slips too sometimes. Sometimes you need them, I just think they get overlooked/forgotten by the mainstream populace.

I think it’s beautiful! It makes me think about old tv shows, like Bewitched or My Dream of Jeannie. I love that mid-century modern kinda vibe. I bet it looks great on you!

This totally reminds me of the nighties that my grandma had from the 60’s! She had one in a similar salmon color to this, actually. I used to play dress up with them as a kid. I had a black one that I wore over a short tank dress in the 90’s when I was a teenager and channeling the Courtney Love baby doll dress look. Damn, I kind of wish I had kept some of those now!

I must be old because I really like that negligee 😀
Maybe you could just hold it up to your face/body next time…hehe. Either way, I understand you not wanting to model it. Thanks for your review!
