Baby Booth Box September 2018 “Into the Woods” Review

The theme for this month is “Into the Woods” and since I have a boy, he gets to dress up like a little wolf. How cute is the girl’s version, though? I love that they give you a suggested setup so that you can get some ideas for how to utilize the props they provide.

KleanColor Nail Polish in Metallic Yellow – Retail Value $1.00

This is the gift for mom this month. Sorry for the pitiful nail swatch here, but I am coming off of a week-long vacation with three kids and my nails are not in the best shape, so you get to enjoy this awkward pinky shot. The polish is actually a really pretty sparkly yellow gold. It provided a lot better coverage than I expected and so far hasn’t chipped despite not having a top coat. I didn’t recognize any of the harmful ingredients that nail polishes are infamous for on the label, so that’s another plus!

In our first box, we received this milestone blanket valued at $19.99. Usually, everything centers around this blanket that is numbered 1-12 with the phrases weeks and months at the bottom, but lately we haven’t needed to use it since our setups have been a bit different.

Oriental Trading Red Apple Stress Toy – Buy 12 for $14.99

A perfect prop for our Into the Woods theme! This squishy apple is cute and will definitely make a nice stress reliever after our shoot!

Fairy Tale Finger Puppet Set of 4 – Estimated Value $3.50 (I came across several different sellers and they were all somewhere around this price)

These finger puppets are so cute! They actually featured a lot more detail than I would have expected with Grandma’s hair and all of the details on their faces. Fun little props that my bigger kids will be enjoying soon, I’m sure!

Fingerless Animal Gloves – Estimated Value $3.99 (This is another item with a lot of different sellers, so I went with the lower price!)

These are much too big on my little guy, considering they actually fit my hands, but these are very cute and wolf-like. I like that they show that they are just supposed to be in the shot as opposed to on his hands. They are super soft and warm and have a string to connect them. These will definitely be going into our Halloween costume bin as I’m sure one day I will need them for one animal or another!

Infant Animal Bodysuit – Estimated Value $12.99 (this is the most similar version I could find! The price seems fair compared to a lot of other suits they have online)

What an adorable bodysuit! It has snaps to close it and a hood with animal ears. I love that the feet are white on the bottom and that it has a cute tail. I think this could pass as many different animals, as is the same with the gloves, and for our purposes, it worked well with our woods theme. This is super soft and furry, but it is a little thin which was good because then he wasn’t sweating all through our shoot!

Sunlit Woods Backdrop – Estimated Value $9.69 (based on the similar style I linked to)

This was a very pretty backdrop and I’m actually thinking of using it in Bennett’s nursery since we have a woodland theme going on!

Alright, I know it’s baby overload, but I couldn’t decide which photos to use this month! It was a really overcast day so I had a hard time finding a good spot to set up and I ended up taping the backdrop to a wall. I decided to use this green blanket that we have as our forest floor and since they didn’t include anything to mark what month he is, I just drew it on the apple with a dry erase marker. I think it worked out pretty well and this might be my favorite one so far!

Verdict: This was such a cute theme for our Baby Booth Box this month! I love a good animal bodysuit with cute little ears! The finger puppets were a cute touch and so were the animal gloves. This is another of their more simple designs and I think it worked well with the theme.

As for value, I estimate about $32.42 worth of value in all of the items we received (and that’s using the lowest prices found) and the box costs $29.98/month ($24.99 plus $4.99 shipping). While a lot of these are estimates, I definitely think that everything we received combined with the overall experience of having someone else curate a photo shoot and send it straight to our door was worth it.
