Monthly Box of Food and Snacks is a new monthly snack box from thatdailydeal.com:

Get an assortment of delicious, brand name snacks and food delivered to straight to your doorstep every month for one low price! Almost everything you receive will be full sized items with well know brand names. Includes a variety of snacks from granola bars, chips, cereals, etc. A lot will even be organic! Please note, this box is an insanely good deal, so some best by dates could be just passed or about to pass or they could even have a year left on them. If you are a frugal shopper you understand that best by dates are arbitrary and the packaged foods we will be sending are perfectly fine after the best by dates. Items that could potentially melt will only be included in the cooler months. You may receive multiples of some items, but we will always send a good variety each month.

Some things to consider: Have a big family to feed? Feel free to order multiples, but keep in mind that it might result in doubling up on the exact same products or you could get completely different products. It will vary from month to month. Received something you aren’t interested in? Give back to your community by donating the unwanted items. Have someone you want to send a care package to like a student in college or a grandparent? Let us do the work for you by shipping this box directly to them!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Monthly Box of Food and Snacks July 2018 Review

Rather than a traditional info sheet describing the products, we got a letter telling us how smart we were for signing up.

Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie Bites -

Fiber One Chocolate Fudge Brownie Bites, 5- 1.17 oz pouches - Retail Value $3.29. The best if used by date is August 11, 2018.

This is a full box amount of brownie bites, only without the box. These were really decadent—they were like fudge brownie bites, and the added fiber didn’t affect the taste at all. I like the small individual packets, as it makes it so easy to throw in my purse to face the day with snacks.

Fiber One Chocolate Caramel Brownie Bites, 5- 1.17 oz pouches - Retail Value $3.29. The best if used by date is September 21, 2018.

These are just like the fudge brownie bites, only with a caramel drizzle. I love caramel, so these really were like a caramel brownie. I will have no problem eating these before the best by date!

Lara Bar Banana Chocolate Chip, 6- 1.6 oz bars - Buy a box of five bars for $5.29. The best if used by date is September 1, 2018.

We got more than a full box worth of these bad boys, which I think is fab. These literally only have four ingredients: dates, almonds, unsweetened bananas, and semi-sweet chocolate chips! The flavor reminded me of a chocolate chip banana bread, and I wasn't mad about it.

Vea Tuscan Herbs with Roasted Garlic World Crisps,

Vea Tuscan Herbs with Roasted Garlic World Crisps, 5 oz pouch - Retail Value $3.68. The best if used by date is July 29, 2018.

I am a garlic fan, so I was happy that garlic was a prominent flavor here. These crackers provided a satisfyingly herbaceous crunch, and these would be a good pairing with a good white cheddar and piece of salami.

Fiber One Protein Chewy Bar in Peanut Butter, 5 ct box - Retail Value $3.48. The best if used by date is August 19, 2018.

Yay more fiber one—healthy digestion is important, Y’all, and it seems that that daily deal cares about our health. I am not a fan of peanut butter flavored snack bars like these, so I passed these on to a friend. She said that while the chocolate and peanut butter didn’t taste like a candy bar, it was a satisfying mid-morning snack.

7 Days Mini Croissant with Cocoa Filling,

7 Days Mini Croissant with Cocoa Filling, 6.53 oz Retail Value $2.28. The best if used by date is June 11, 2018.

This is our first expired product of the box! While I know the best by dates doesn’t mean that a product is expired, I still wasn’t down with these. I opened up the bag and was greeted with a chemically baked good smell that may be normal for these chocolate filled mini croissants (I have never had them before), but I still didn’t feel like tempting fate.

Cascade Farms Honey Almond Cereal, 14.4 oz box - Buy a similar 13.5 oz. box for $3.39 (found here for $3). The best if used by date is September 9, 2018.

I was excited about the honey and almond in the title of this cereal, so when I tried it for the first time I poured myself a big bowl. Unfortunately, the honey flavor was light so this really tasted like a bowl of ~healthy~ cereal, which wasn’t what I was going for. If you’re a real adult and prefer to eat cereal that isn’t sugar laden and completely unhealthy (hello, frosted flakes lucky charms mashup!), you will probably be happy with this. This flavor is a Whole Foods exclusive, so you can’t find this exact option online.

Annies Homegrown Cinnabunnies Cinnamon Cereal, 10 oz box - Retail Value $3.99 (found here for $3.50). The best if used by date is August 19, 2018.

Now, this cereal is much more my style—it tasted really similar to Cinnamon Toast Crunch! This tasted really yummy almond milk, and I would consider purchasing it in the future the next time I go to Target!

Annies Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites, 9.75 oz box – Buy a 6.5 oz box for $2.50. The best if used by date is August 3, 2018.

These are the perfect cookie to pair with a glass of milk. They are a bit dry on their own, but that is nothing a few seconds in milk can’t fix. These really are bite-size, though! If you’re not careful you can eat half the box in one sitting.

Vea Mini Crunch Bars in Thai Coconut, 4 1.7 oz bags

Vea Mini Crunch Bars in Thai Coconut, 4- 1.7 oz bags – Buy a 5 oz bag for $3.99. The best if used by date is September 17, 2018.

I normally dig coconut flavors, but I wasn't really feeling the way the sweet potato went with the Thai flavors. I think I would be more excited about sweet potatoes, coconut, and ginger inside of a hot curry rather than as a crunchy snack. Personal preferences may make your opinion differ, however!

Nabisco Good Thins The Beet One in Balsamic Vinegar & Sea Salt, 3.75 oz

Nabisco Good Thins The Beet One in Balsamic Vinegar & Sea Salt, 3.75 oz – Retail Value $2.56. The best if used by date is August 24, 2018.

I really wanted to like these- I like salt and vinegar chips, I like balsamic vinegar, and I actually like beet chips. But the three of them combined was an unpalatable snack for me—I couldn’t even finish half a cracker! The natural sweetness of the beet and the acidic tang of the balsamic vinegar is just was not a good pairing for my taste buds. Again, mileage may vary.

Triscuit Thin Crisps in Wasabi and Soy Sauce, 7.10 oz – Retail Value $2.41. The best if used by date is June 14,  2018.

Here is the second item of the month that was past its use by date. Honestly, I was surprised there weren't more. I feel more comfortable eating dry crackers than I do moist croissants, so these were still a go for me. The flavor was a bit salty for my taste thanks to the soy sauce, but I thought the wasabi provided a nice bite of flavor.

The Verdict: I couldn’t find an exact value for all items, but I do feel like I definitely got my $30 worth of snacks. Some of the snacks were new brands to me, and some of the snacks I see on the shelves every time I go to the grocery store! I think this box is especially useful for families where having a large variety of snacks will appease everyone’s hunger. I got 12 types of snacks, with each snack having multiple portions—considering only 2 of the snacks were past the sell-by date, I do think this is a pretty good deal.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? No two boxes will be exactly alike—there is no guarantee that two boxes shipped in July will have the same items. That being said, you can still sign up!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $29.99 and I received 12 different kinds of snacks with all of them containing multiple servings or portions. That works out to $2.50 per type of snack!

I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

August box was better the July. I got Black Bean chips,Lays Staks,Fig Newtons,3 kinds of Lara bars,Annie’s Honey Graham Crackers,Triskets,Oat and Flax seed Crackers,Kettle Corn Oreos,Herb Pita Chips,2 bottle Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee and that’s all I remember.I think with a lot of these snacks the Expiration or Best By Dates are guide lines,we have purchased food items at auctions and even our regular stores that were past date and have never had issues. I stay away from meat, dairy and anything else that will go bad after the date.

I have to say this but they say it’s a $89.99 value for $29.99. How do they come to this number. It doesn’t even come close to $60 after give some items a higher retail price than I should. I got my August box and had a Lays Stak in it. I sent an email for them to cancel my subscription. They did after they charged me for Sept. and now I have 2 different orders in for Sept. Just emailed for them to cancel both now and refund me.

I ordered a box in July and never received it. The status was stuck on “processing will ship soon.” I emailed twice before I received a response and I was told that I ordered past the shipping date and would receive the August box. I’m not feeling that great about their customer service because they could have left me know (after two weeks) that the order wasn’t processing and wouldn’t ship soon.

I have seen each & every one of the items you received at my local 99 Cent Only stores recently. I have a feeling the manufacturers are dumping these wherever they can at a bulk discount.

Is this the vegetarian option? I’m not a vegetarian but I don’t want beef jerky. Has anyone else received a box? I’d like to know more about what others have received. I think some companies if they know they are sending to a reviewer may make sure the box is extra good.

I sent this to my friend who can’t get to the store often due to mobility health problems 🙁 BUT she really enjoyed this! She called me when she got it and described each thing. Seeing that I didn’t personally get it, I can’t say for the food itself, but it was really nice talking with her and I really like the idea of having this to look forward to each month!

I don’t find this to be that great of a deal, especially with receiving expired food!

I had to go back up and read the company description before commenting as originally I was surprised on how positive you remained about the best by dates! But the company was up front that things might be close or past. While I think there is value there still not sure I would risk it on some of the types of items. Does seem like a lot of food was received.

I ordered my July box and still haven’t received it.

Based off this review the amount of items to the cost is kind of a wash for me compared to prices at grocery outlet.

I regularly shop at grocery outlet (look it up to see if you have one local). They carry closeout/close to exp. items at a significant discount but since it is a store you can pick and choose what you want.

I’m going to cancel my subscription and just stick to them since they are really close but if someone doesn’t have one near them then this sub is a very close version of what they have delivered to you. 🙂

Oooooh that is Grocery Outlets model??? I was wondering why when I went to one and was kinda not thrilled, but it makes sense now. Worth a second look if I shopped often enough to not let things get too old.

Yes it is! Look up on your phone while you shop how long items are good for before buying any with close sell by dates but most are good for awhile after the best by date.

Their closeouts change all the time so if you see something you really like stock up. We got strawberry toast crunch cereal for 2/$1 a box and stocked up since the kids really liked it and there is no way I would pay full price for it. 😉

Sorry if it was already mentioned in the post – on what day did you receive the box? I understand it was the July 2018 box; however, the “Best By” dates have a different context if you received the box on July 1st versus July 31st.
