LunaBabe Box July 2018 Review

When you subscribe to LunaBabe Box you take a very detailed quiz in order to try and customize a box that you will really love. After my June box, I reached out to customer service to try and update my profile and be more specific in my preferences.  This box does not come with an info sheet, so let’s just dive right in!

LunaBabe wallet 1 LunaBabe wallet 2 LunaBabe wallet 3 LunaBabe wallet 4

Maurice’s Metallic Faux Leather Zipper Wallet - Currently out of stock

I shop at Maurices pretty frequently, so I wasn't unhappy to see this brand included in the box! I was even more surprised when I could find the link to the wallet—it is sold out, but that means this wallet hasn't been sitting in storage for ten years. I am not a fan of accordion wallets like this, but the quality is great and the bright pink means its easy to find in the dark caverns that is my purse.

LunaBabe book 1 LunaBabe book 2 LunaBabe book 3

The Tree Fort on Carnation Lane by Horace Ho - Retail Value $17.99

I mentioned in my updated preferences that I love to read, so I was happy to see this book! It is currently in my to-read pile, but it sounds utterly fascinating and I am stoked to venture into the world of Taiwan literature and culture. This book has death, political drama, and an orangutan rescue—if that’s not the makings of a good book I don’t know what is.

Home Sweet Home: Travel Edition Coloring Book - Retail Value $8.95

Score! I love adult coloring books, and I am digging both the smaller square shape and the metallic gold cover. Each page is thick and perforated, perfect for tearing without having an ugly ripped edge. This coloring book has a good mix of very detailed and more simple designs, which I prefer because sometimes I want mindless coloring and sometimes I want to lose myself in the details.

Victoria’s Secret Pink Unicorn Vibes Bath Bomb - Retail Value $6.95 (found on sale here for $3.95)

Double Score! I love bath bombs! I haven’t tried any bombs from Pink before (it has been literal years since I even stepped inside one of the stores, and the last time I did they weren’t offering bath bombs!), so I was excited to see what they could do. This turned my bath water a light pink and the vanilla scent was enjoyable, but considering the plethora of $7 bath bombs options out there I wouldn’t purchase this in the future. I’m super stoked this was selected to be in my box, however!

LunaBabe journal 1 LunaBabe journal 2 LunaBabe journal 3 LunaBabe journal 4

CID Pear Journal Set

This set of three journals is great for list making or jotting down thoughts—I found the longer journals to be great for making my grocery store list! The thin size makes these super portable, and I find the cover designs to be dainty and pretty.

Glitter Pencils Set

I am a hardcore gel ink rollerball pen user (not overly specific or anything), but I think this pencil set was a good inclusion considering back to school season is upon us! These pencils also pair great with the journals. I’m never going to say no to glitter, and I really appreciate that the glitter is sealed so the pencil is smooth to hold and the glitter doesn’t get everywhere.

LunaBabe OPI

OPI Mini Polishes

Next up is two mini bottles of OPI nail polish! These small bottles don’t have names on them, but my favorite is the super sheer yellow with gold glitter flecks suspended in it. This polish didn’t smell old or have polish stuck to the bottle neck, which I definitely appreciate.

Nail Jewels

Ahh, nail jewels. If I was younger I would be all over these, but now if I am sticking jewels to my nails they are Swarovski. I do occasionally do younger girls nails when I babysit, so I will be saving these for that!

Avon Loose Nail Glitter

When I first saw this I wasn't sure what type of glitter this was for. Thanks to the handy dandy Google I found out this was a nail glitter! I was a bit skeptical, as the instructions said you could just dip a wet nail into the jar for the glitter effect. I ended up using my round cuticle pusher from the NCLA set that came in my Bless Box (review coming soon!), and I spooned glitter over a wet top coat. I then used a fan brush to brush away excess glitter and sealed it with a thick coat of top coat. I am actually really impressed with this nail glitter—the end result looks great and the glitter is sealed so the nail itself is smooth. I love the sparkle factor this gives me without needing thick coats of glitter nail polish!

Here is the nail glitter. I paired it with a grey polish from the Benevolent Beauty Box Mystery Box (review is also coming soon!), and I am really pleased with it.

The Verdict: The difference between my July box and my June box are like night and day—this is far and away a great improvement. I do feel like my box was more personalized specifically to me, and I received some great finds in the nail glitter and book. I really hope LunaBabe only continues to get better, because they really do have great potential! I could only find values in the book, the bath bomb, and the coloring book, but those three items alone are worth more than the cost of the box!

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

OMG I absolutely love this box it’s perfect unfortunately 30 bucks is just too much I’d have to give up some of my beauty boxes and I’m just not ready to quit that addiction LOL

Wow! I love your nails!!

It looks like this was definitely a better month for them. The contents seemed like they were presented better too, especially with wrapping the wallet. Everything looks new and clean, and no ripped tags either. This group of products looks like it belongs in that pretty box, instead of thrift store clearance bins. I’m interested to see what they do next month.

My first box was great but the second was awful and I cancelled. Thanks for reviewing if they keep consistent I’d try again.
