FabFitFun sends out a mini mag in each box. It details the items included and also provides background on some of the featured makers and designers.

This page shows all the different items that are available for customization and the items that all subscribers will receive.

And the magazine features content besides the items in the box, too. For example, this season they included a checklist for 50 ways to show gratitude, and there is a horoscope section:

Now, time for the items!

(There are a lot of pictures in this review because there are SO many items! And I’m going to show you all variants at the end of the review, too!)

I’m going to start with the items that all subscribers will receive:

GLAMGLOW Bubble Sheet (Set of 2) – Retail Value $18

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

A GLAMGLOW sheet mask?! Yes, please!

This was super fun to use, but it does get pretty foamy/bubbly, so I recommend using it before a shower, so you can easily rinse it off. You leave it on for about 3 minutes, remove, then use the remaining bubbles to cleanse your face – it creates a really rich foam lather.

My skin felt super clean after using it, but also a bit dried out, so just a heads up that you’ll likely want to follow this with your favorite face oil or moisturizer.

Beautyblender – Retail Value $20

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

This is an item I pay full price for, so I was thrilled to see it in the box! If you haven’t used this before, it’s amazing for applying foundation with a streak-free finish. To use it:

  1. Wet the beautyblender and squeeze out any excess water
  2. Dab your foundation onto the blender, then bounce it across your face. (You don’t want to rub it in.)

I’ve been using a beautyblender for years to apply liquid foundation, but I just recently discovered you can use it for powder, too. (I now use it for setting powder and it’s great!)

Simply Whimsical Tea Towels – Value Listed $14.99

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

These tea towels are 80% Cotton, 20% Polyester. The simple grey + white design should go with most decor, and they have a hanging loop:

Not the most exciting item in the box for me, but definitely a practical one! (And my kitchen is all white, with a stainless steel countertop, so these match perfectly!)

Skin & Co Roma Blue in Capri Shower Gel – Retail Value $22

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

This shower gel can also double as a bubble bath! The scent is an herbal and pine blend – I love it and my husband Eric likes it, too!

Luna Rica Cashew Butter Filled Fruit & Nut Bar in Salted Caramel Nut – Bonus Sponsored Item!

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

This bar is organic and gluten-free! (I get way too excited when there is a food item I can eat because of my dietary restrictions!)

I have to admit on the first bite, I wasn’t sure if I liked this bar, but then 10 seconds later I wanted another bite, so it grew on me! Obviously, the texture is a little different than your typical nutrition bars (with the cashew butter as the filling) but after I got used to it, I really like this bar! The bar is 170 calories, with 16 grams of sugar. The bar is pretty sweet, so I think that sugar gram count is decent, and I like that you can break the bar into 4 pieces.

Next up, we have the Choice items. If you aren’t familiar, every season, FabFitFun allows subscribers to pick their choice between different items to customize their box!

Vince Camuto Luck Tote – Retail Value $128

All subscribers will be able to pick this bag (in one of two colors) OR a Crown Brush Set. (I’ll show you all the other options at the end of the review.) As of publication, if you subscribe now, you’ll have an hour after signing up to make your selections.

This is made of pebbled vegan leather. Here’s a closer look at the material:

I think this is an excellent faux leather – the pebble detail really helps.

This is an open slim tote with one inner pocket.

The tote measures 17.5 x 12 inches. And if you are wondering if it can fit a laptop – the answer is yes! Here it is with a mini 12-inch MacBook, but as you can see, there’s plenty of room for a larger laptop:

(You may still want to still put your laptop in a protective sleeve inside the tote.)

Here it is on to give you a better sense of scale.

I have always attended meetings/events with my laptop in my backpack, so I’m excited to have this classy option, now! (As you can see it’s a slim tote, but the material isn’t stiff, so you can definitely fit larger items in it too, if you prefer.)

Catherine Malandrino Umbrella – Retail Value $39.99

All subscribers will be able to pick this umbrella (in one of two prints) OR a Bluetooth headphone set. (I’ll show you all the other options at the end of the review.) As of publication, if you subscribe now, you’ll have an hour after signing up to make your selections.

I am someone who always ends up losing umbrellas, so this item was another win for me. (Hopefully, I don’t lose this one, though, it is so cute!)

It’s a quality umbrella too – it has a good weight to it, and you can open it one-handed by pushing the button on the handle:

Here’s another look at the pattern:

ALFRED Ceramic and Stainless Steel Teapot – Value Listed $26

All subscribers will be able to pick this teapot OR a french press. (I’ll show you all the other options at the end of the review.) As of publication, if you subscribe now, you’ll have an hour after signing up to make your selections.

This adorable little teapot is about 4 inches tall and holds 20 ounces – it’s the perfect size for two servings of tea or one extra large cup!

Inside there is a stainless steel loose tea infuser.

And here it is in hand to give you a better sense of scale:

And here it is in “action”:

FYI – this isn’t a teapot that can be used on a stove or in the microwave. Just add your loose leaf tea, fill with hot water, and let it steep for a few minutes.

(FYI – part of the handle does get a little warm with the hot water. Not harmful – but just a warning if you aren’t expecting the handle to be warm!)

Next up, we have the Select items. If you aren’t familiar, every season, FabFitFun allows annual subscribers to pick their choice between different items to customize their box. If you aren’t a Select member (annual subscriber), FabFitFun will pick the item for you.

Cuccio Yogahhh! Detox Bath – Retail Value $39.95

Annual subscribers will be able to pick this detox bath, OR Farmacy Eye Cream, OR Touch in Sol Lipstick Duo. (I’ll show you all the other options at the end of the review.)

This is an ingredient-conscious brand, and I love the packaging too – so easy to use!

The salt blend is designed for relaxing post-workout. And the naturally Eucalyptus scent is amazing!

Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant – Retail Value $67

Annual subscribers will be able to pick this facial exfoliant, OR Grown Alchemist Day Cream, OR Grown Alchemist Cream Cleanser. (I’ll show you all the other options at the end of the review.)

This is a pricey, high-quality, ingredient-conscious beauty brand, and I was thrilled to see it in the box! This facial exfoliant has a fabulous natural grapefruit scent. The formula is creamy with a fine exfoliator particle – this is gentle enough to use every day. It made my skin soft and smooth, and no irritation either – I’m hooked!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $375.93! As always, I’m so impressed with how many items FabFitFun delivers for $49.99. I don’t know how they do it – this box is full of name brands I love so much I pay full price for, and I love how much customization they are now offering to subscribers. I don’t think there are any bad options in this box either – I really love all the beauty options that annual members get to pick from!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? As of today, 8/16, yes!

CouponUse coupon code MSA10 to get this box for only $39.99!

Value Breakdown: There are so many variations for this box, but the total value of the box depending on what you select will range from $285.97-$375.93. At $49.99 for 9 items, you are paying only $5.55 an item!

What do you think of the Fall 2018 FabFitFun box? Which items did you pick?

Ready to see the other options? Here are the other options that are available to subscribers:

Crown Brush 6 Piece Brush Set – Value Listed $75

FYI – the magazine includes tips for using each brush:

Each brush is made with synthetic, densely-packed bristles. This set includes:

-Powder Brush
-Blush Brush
-Concealer Brush
-Shadow Brush
-Blending Brush
-Eyeliner Brush
-Travel case

Alfred French Press Coffee Maker

This coffee press has a glass vessel that is completely removable from the metal base/handle.

-Stainless steel filter, press, and frame
-20 oz capacity
-Borosilicate glass

CYLO Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds – Retail Value $40

These earbuds are super comfortable (they come with two different size silicone ear tips), and the sound quality is good for the $40 price point.

They have a playback time of 4 hours, and also have a built-in microphone so you can use them for calls, too.

Farmacy Dew It All Eye Cream – Retail Value $38

Farmacy is another great ingredient-conscious brand! This formula is designed to help minimize signs of aging, stress, and fatigue.

It’s a bit of a gel/cream hybrid. Pretty lightweight, and still very moisturizing. It absorbed quickly, too.

Touch in Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo in Penny – Retail Value $24.99

This side is the metallic liquid lipstick. And the other side is the shimmery lip topper:

Here are both shades swatched:

The liquid lipstick (on the bottom) really stays put! It’s impressive for any liquid lipstick, but especially for a formula with a metallic finish!

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser – Retail Value $49

This creamy cleanser is SO gentle! No worries about stripping oils from your skin, either.

(Good to know – on page 10 of the magazine, FabFitFun tells you exactly how much of each beauty product in the box you should use.)

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream – Retail Value $49

This day cream is hydrating, light, and non-greasy. Plus again, I’m loving the ingredient-conscious formula! (The natural scent is fab!)

Ok, that’s it! Thanks if you stuck with me the whole way through! Let me know what you think of all the options!

And new subscribers, use coupon code MSA10 to get this box for only $39.99!

  1. I was so happy with the summer editors box that I continued the subscription. But I’m not as enamored with this box the same way. I’m not a fan of the skin and co body was. It smells amazing, but I feel like I need to use half the bottle to get any lather. The French press is useful but does feel rather cheap as do the tea towels. Can’t say much about the face scrub as I’ve not used it yet and the Vince Camuto will likely make a nice secret Santa gift for someone. In the end, would’ve loved to opt out of this one…

    • You can opt out of the next box if you do Seasonal and not Annual. Lathering agents are not really good for you which are usually ‘sulfates’ or cocomide DEA, MEA, TEA. They are chemicals just to produce foam. Soaps, toothpaste, shampoo don’t need suds to do their job. They are just added to make people think it is making a difference.

  2. Anyone else having problems getting their box? Mine was supposed to be delivered today, but my mail has already come and gone. My tracking hasn’t updated in over a week and only shows a point of origin scan in Los Angeles. No other updates from fedex or Usps. I think it may be lost. I will be very upset if it has to be replaced and I don’t get the items I picked or my add ons. Customer service was unhelpful.

    • They have not even shipped my freaking box! I am annual and was charged on Aug 15th and still nothing.

Their ship time makes no sense at all. This is the longest I’ve ever waited!

I like FFF but the ship time is why I will not renew my subscription. By the time I get it the thrill will be gone.

    • Hey! Mine was supposed to get here on Tuesday 8/28. Never came. Later that night I got an updated notice that it would be delivered on Friday (today). Then on Wednesday, I received another email saying it would get here on Thursday (yesterday). It did lol!! The outer shipping box was ripped all over, the shipping label was crumpled and barely hanging on. Amazingly, the FFF box was in perfect condition and nothing was missing.

      • I don’t think it’s all in FFF’s control.

My winter box never came in late Nov. but the tracking showed it did. They were helpful and sent me a new one. Fast forward to May and it shows up battered and repacked several times.

        • Wow!! So, wait, the original showed up that way or the replacement???…was anything missing or??

    • I think it’s an issue out of FFF’s control once it leaves their facility.

According to the tracking, my winter box “delivered” late Nov. I got a replacement and the box showed up in May repacked to pieces.

    • I’m having the same problem. I’m still waiting to hear back from customer service. I emailed them but will probably call Monday. Why don’t they require a signature upon delivery? Also, why is it shipped by FedEx but delivered by USPS?

  3. If you got the French press, be careful when you remove it from the box, and check it for damage! Mine was broken, and little shards of glass fell all over everything when I took it out of the box. They are replacing the French press, but nothing else, even though there was glass everywhere. Also, they asked me to take a photo of the damage, which I thought was dangerous, since I had to open the box and more glass came out, although I was careful not to cut myself. Now I have glass shards i have to clean off of everything. I wish the press had been shipped inside a bagp to protect the rest of the box.

    • I don’t think a bag would have helped prevent this, as it sounds like a faulty pack style. Requesting pics are usually for Quality Control purposes.

    • My French press was also received with a huge crack and a hole in the glass. I had to take a pic as well. I contacted them by using the chat feature and I should get a replacement within a few weeks.

  4. I was missing 3 items…..how are they on replacing them? its never happened before!

    • They’ll make it right, just go on chat or call them.

    • They are amazing at replacing items, even if they just sent you the wrong item. They will replace it no problem and may even send you a little something extra :)!

  5. I got my box yesterday and the first and only item I’ve used is CYLO COBRA Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds…

What a waste of product. They broke the same day. The headphone part detached. It’s very disappointing that Fab Fit Fun would put such a garbage item in their box. The headphones felt cheap and flimsy at first, but I wanted to give them a fair chance, and so I took them to the gym. The sounds was decent and the headphones were lightweight which I liked for the gym, but none of that matters because those broke with only an hour of use.

The rest of the box and add-ons look great through. Can’t comment on those though since I haven’t gotten around to using anything else yet.

    • Yeah when I heard “they are good quality for the price point” it was a no-go. Good Bluetooth headphones are like 90 dollars.

    • The first ones they sent me didn’t work, the replacement pair broke on my second use

  6. Strange that some of quarterly subscribers already have their box and I haven’t even gotten shipping notification yet. I am an annual subscriber plus I had add-ons. Wasn’t getting your box shipped first suppose to be one of the perks of annual and add-ons?

    • This happens every season.

    • I remember this happening back when I was an annual member too. I had gotten many add-ons and my box took longer to ship than it should have. When I contacted CS, it was due to an issue with an add-on item causing the hold-up. So I think the add-ons can create a bit of a gamble. If everything is running smoothly, you should get your box first. If not, it might actually cause a delay, as opposed to getting it shipped earlier.

To be fair though, the shipping schedule states that priority shipping should be sent out by mid-September, and the other boxes will be shipped by the end of September. So they’ve got another 2 weeks before you can consider your box delayed. Which is why I’m so stunned that I have my seasonal with no add-ons box already. I wasn’t expecting this until early October.

    • Yes, my daughter already has her box and I haven’t even gotten a shipping notification yet. We’re both annual but I did add-ons. (We live in the same house.) I’m never in the first groups to get their boxes.

    • I think the add-ons are a bit of a gamble when I comes to priority shipping. The add-ons would make things more complicated and increase the chance of something not being in stock or being delayed getting to FFF. My box is always a bit late when I get add-ons, even when I was annual. However, if you look at the shipping schedule, priority box will be shipped by mid-September, and the others are to be shipped by the end of September. I got no add-ons, I wasn’t expecting this box until October. So even the priority boxes have another 2 weeks before they can be considered late.

    • It could be a carrier issue. USPS automation can have delays when the weight & volume don’t align.

    • Happens to me every single time! I’m also an annual member and last time I got my box a month later than everyone else! They gave me $10 to spend for add ons but only after I contacted them 3 times. I had even added over $100 in add ons. I’m not going to renew this time

  7. Got my box today. I wasn’t too psyched for it but now that I have it, it isn’t too bad. The bag is nicer than I thought it would be. However, it does have a strong smell as others have mentioned. The items are kind of random but I will use most. I need eye cream so i picked the Farmacy eye cream and everything else was a bonus.

  8. Mine is out for delivery today. I just revealed it on the FFF site. Of course, I got the day cream which I didn’t want because I already have a lifetime supply of facial moisturizer, and the bath soak, which I did not want because I do not have a bathtub! I would have been happier with any of the other items but didn’t want to risk another annual – the boxes were too hit and miss for me last year.

  9. Did anyone elses Vince Camuto bags have a crazy strong smell?

    • I haven’t gotten mine yet. What does it smell like?

    • Yes, I coughed when I took it out of the protective cover! It has a strong, plastic smell.

      • Chemical smell that really cuts. I hung it outside my apt door overnight and it was much better. Put it next to the window all day and it’s now only noticeable up close.

      • I think that’s the bigger problem… The thrill. The excitement is gone by the time I actually get my hands on it. They have got to get this box out to customers a good 2 weeks faster than they are.

    • Yes, a terrible plastic smell.

  10. Question, if I order the box today as a seasonal subscription, does anyone know if I can still pick what items I want?

    • You should be able to pick some of the items. I believe it’s the bag or brush set, teapot or French Press and umbrella or Earbuds. For the other items I believe you have to be an annual subscriber.

  11. Woah! I’m so confused, yet delighted. I just received my shipping notification and it looks like my box is already on its way and should be here Saturday. I’m not a select member, nor did I order any add-ons. Their schedule says that those who did get add-ons and/or are select members could expect their box to ship in early September, and the rest should be shipped by the end of September. I wasn’t expected to get this until October! Way to step it up FFF, you are slowly, but surely, woo-ing me back into being an annual member.

I’m also particularly pleased with this since it looks like I’ll be having surgery as early as next week. When feeling down, I enjoy indulging in some extra skin care, and snuggling up with a blanket and some tea. Some of these items will go a long way toward making recovery a little more bearable.

    • Good luck with your surgery!

    • Aw, I’m so glad it’s coming early! Surgery is the worst. 🙁 Hope you recover quickly!

    • Thanks guys. It’s a quick, easy, out-patient procedure (gallbladder removal), but I’ve never had surgery, so I’m a little freaked out anyway. But my box came! Not only did they get it here so quickly, but FFF totally read my mind, and sent me my favorite options from customization 4 (lipstick, which looks ended up looking awful on me, oh well) and 5 (exfoliant). My only gripe is the tote. In person, it really does look and feel rather cheap to me. Everything else I love and will get plenty of use from. $50 well spent!

    • does your box include a blanket?

  12. Glad I resubbed for this box. The only things I’m keeping are the Glam Glow Masks, which are fantastic and the tea pot. Everything else will be used for office Christmas gifts along with my add-ons.

  13. I was bored so I decided to compare the cost per item of my box as an annual subscriber ($45/box). Here’s what my selections came out to:
Glamglow masks $18 retail pd. $2.18
Beauty blender $20 retail pd $2.42
Simply Whimsical Tea Towels $14.99 retail pd. $1.82
Skin & Co Roma Blue in Capri Shower Gel – Retail Value $22 pd. $2.67
Vince Camuto Luck Tote – Retail Value $128 pd. $15.49
Cuccio Yogahhh! Detox Bath – Retail Value $39.95 pd. $4.84
Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant– Retail Value $67 pd. $8.11
Alfred French Press Coffee Maker rv $22 pd $2.66
CYLO Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds – Retail Value $40 pd. $4.84

At these prices, the box seems like a great deal. I wish I *needed * some of it, but you can’t beat those prices.

  14. Does anyone else’s tracking info say a signature is required? I’ve never seen that before with FFF. It’s coming FedEx and is due to arrive on 8/27.

    • Probably so they know someone is present when they deliver otherwise you pick it up at the post office if your not home. In case of theft.

    • That’s weird.

  15. For me there are a lot of useful items in this box. I work in a corporate environment so the Vince Camuto bag will be perfect and I don’t have anything similar to it. I love the Beautyblender sponges, my foundation goes on perfectly now. I picked the teapot, I use loose tea, so this will be nice to try. I choose the headphones as a gift for hubby, although I thought the umbrellas were very cute and I could always use umbrellas, I should of got both! The tea towels are something I will use, but I do have many, the same for the shower gel… I have a collection of shower gels!

  16. I have to say, I’m a tad disappointed with this box. I was hoping for more fall items, and they were all add ons. The cute mugs and travel cups, scarves, and fall hues make up. The only thing resembling fall in this box is the colour of the tote, if you chose it. I had this idea of gloves, a beanie, pumpkin spice candle lol but I guess that’s just me and my fault. The items are good and I’m excited for my items it’s just not as fall oriented as I pictured it.

    • Exactly

    • I agree, I was expecting more Fall themed. Not happy with this box at all 🙁

    • I think the beauty products could have been a little more on brand for Fall, but as a Floridian, I am so thankful they didn’t include beanies / gloves / scarves. I have gotten SO MUCH of that stuff from boxes and it has never been used because it’s totally useless for my area.

    • Thank God there wasnt a pumpkin spice candle. 🤮
Otherwise I agree… Not a thing about this box reminds me of fall. Disappointment!

      • I agree … Disappointed! The bath detox was a waist, I shower only and work 60 hrs week – no time for baths. Plus how many more towels can we have, every box it seems. The dogs get them. I wont use tea pot. Live in Arizona don’t need umbrella. I paid $49 for a beautyblender, the only good thing in box. Cancelling!

  17. Liz – thanks for the always great reviews!

Anyone feel the reminders about customization for annual subscribers was lacking from FFF? I got a ton of emails about Add-ons (and I grabbed a bunch) but I never saw Customization open email (I had one, just didn’t see it). If you are an annual subscriber, you do it because you can customize and missing it is a huge letdown – especially when there are several items you do NOT want and will NOT use but you could have customized. Why did the go crazy advertising and posting about Add-ons and one simple (seriously, HTML style) email telling you Add-ons were open and nothing warning that closing date was coming? And I was in there a lot looking at Add-ons and there was no pop-up or banner for Customizations. I like FFF boxes for the most part, but you really need to customize them to get the best value for you.

    • You have a point about the Customization reminders being lacking in email, at least for me as an annual subscriber. I remembered just in time and their website didn’t mess up this time.

However, what FFF failed to remind us of, Liz and MSA DEFINITELY DID keep us up to date through the daily email and here on her website!!!
I think MSA more than made up for FFF’s deficient emails to each annual subscriber. I have one heck of a Customized FFF box coming, but did not go overboard on Add Ons this season as I’m fairly sure hubby would not believe I ” won” another huge ” box of gifts” like I told him in the Summer shipments. 😉

In my defense, I’ve won all manner of items both large and small in the past, and the prices were low enough on the add ons to be called ” wins”, IMO, if you have the right frame of mind. 😉

THANK YOU, LIZ, FOR THE GREAT REMINDERS AND SCHEDULES FOR THE FFF BOXES ! 😉

      • Glad to hear you have a great box + add-ons coming your way! 🙂

      • Hahaha you won a huge box of gifts I love that!! 😂😂😂

      • I too have used that ploy!! And I have won numerous prizes in the past, so it was believable.
But he now knows the truth and sees how excited I get to customize my box.

      • Glad to know I’m not the only one that has told that lie 🤦‍♀️ Then again, the way you put it, for the prices it is actually a win so I’m gonna go with that 😊

    • I definitely feel you there. I got the summer editors box and had no idea I could customize till I got the email it was being shipped. I didn’t even realize I was getting the summer editors box. So without knowing that, I was unable to customize the editors box. Thank god for this site, I was able to get the cheat sheet for when add ons and customizations started.

    • Yes! This is the first time I missed the customization! Just got my box today and I’m a bit disappointed. I would have chosen the brush set, got the tote. I work from home, so I don’t have a use for it. I also wanted the floral umbrella, but got the earbuds. I’m ok with the other choices they made for me. It’s just frustrating because I pay for the annual sub.

    • I never received e mail regarding choices for summer or fall box

  18. I’m excited about this box and the add-ons I ordered. I keep looking for my shipping info in the website. Anyone know about when they will start shipping? So anxious!

  19. I have a Beauty Blender or two and when I used one, moistened, excess purified water squeezed out, it was my perception that the Beauty Blender soaked up more of my foundation than I’d normally remove from the jar or bottle.
I know I had to use the BB Cleanser that came in the set to get it to rinse clean. I think I put too much water and too much foundation on the sponge, IDK.
Maybe there’s a learning curve for using the Beauty Blender correctly? I didn’t have problems with the teeny minis that some box sent out ( was it Sephora Play?)

Liz has used Beauty Blenders for a long time, but I have 2 in my makeup case and haven’t used them after the deluge of makeup ( and water) that came out of mine when I squeezed it to rinse it out.

I’d like to see a video of how Liz uses hers and how much water and makeup goes into the sponge and how much washes out with each use. Am I the only one who wonders if they are using the product like it’s supposed to be used?

    • Hey, you are supposed to squeeze as much water out as you can to leave it still soft and expanded. They do use a bit more foundation but if you apply it correctly then it wont use too much. You should also dab the beauty blended on your face.

      • Paris, hey. ;).
I tried to squeeze the thing but if it’s supposed to be dry then why add water in the first place?
I mean, truly, if a foundation is formulated to be any of the following: moisturizing, incandescent, full coverage, matte, automatic color balancing ( which I really think is a gimmick), or otherwise factory- formulated to have specific special properties as sold, doesn’t the water content of the Beauty Blender POSSIBLY change what was produced and bought for those properties?

I haven’t tried this because I never thought of it til now but what happens if the BB is used without water?
I bounced those bright pink eggs all over my face and finally covered up my efforts with some Laura Mercier candlelight powder LOL.
I also have at least 3 of the silicone Makeup Drop things FFF sells ( came in my boxes without me being able to make a choice) and have never used them.

Which thing is better? Makeup Drop or Beauty Blender? I’m asking because I’m OVER dabbing foundation on with my ( clean) fingers, because there has to be a smoother way to get a flawless look, but am apparently Beauty Blender impaired. 😉

        • Mandy – I don’t use those silicone makeup drops for applying foundation. I don’t really like them for that. BUT I have found a good use for them if you’re someone who puts foundation on the back of your hand or mixes foundation. Use the silicone drop as a “palette” by pouring or squirting your foundation into that and then dipping the beauty blender into the foundation – it cleans so easily!

          • UM, thank you!!!!! Best suggestion for these. I have two of them I never use and I mix my makeup on the back of my hand. Thanks again 🙂

          • Fantastic suggestions, honestly, I would have never thought of that. Going to use that idea for mixing my lip palette colours too. Thank you Lisa 😀

        • Check out some YouTube videos. The dampness helps the foundation adhere better and give it a more natural look.

  20. I am always very happy with any box they put out, but I’m also very easy to please I guess. I think the boxes are great and the access to the add on sales and edit sales are worth it! I am excited for this box and I welcome anything bright for the fall, because I dont need anything to remind me of the very long winter coming up next.

  21. I agree regarding the comment about lack of fall theme. Floral umbrella? Pastel teapot? Much more appropriate for a spring box. Not super excited about this edition. Sticking with FFF though. Best subscription box all around.

  22. I have had such mixed feelings on this box..I regret not getting it when I could do the Add-ons, such good stuff. If you ladies have any skin care items you decide to sell, I would be very interested. If i knew I could definitely sell the teapot or coffee press, I would sign-up now, but I don’t need extra “stuff” I won’t use laying around! Oh well..hoping for a better Winter box!

    • Stuff I don’t use I end up saving for a quick nice gift or have in mind who I would gift it to. More often than not I keep at least 85% of what I get however the French press is going to make a great Christmas gift for my boyfriend since we have been talking about getting one. And the face stuff or lotions if I don’t care for them they do well for a white elephant or work gift exchange 😊

  23. I’m super disappointed that the teapot can’t be used on the stove or in the microwave. What is the purpose of it then? You have to heat the water in a normal tea kettle, pour it into the teapot, and then it only holds enough to pour it into a cup? Sounds like some unnecessary steps. It doesn’t sound convenient at all.

    • I’ll be honest, I own teapots like this and love them but your comment had me cracking up. You’re so right! It’s an extra step. But it holds 20oz which is like 2-3 mug’s worth of tea for me.

    • It’s more for loose leaf tea. You would not really need it with tea bags. It kinda replaces the need for a bag. I have a different one and it’s ok…cute but not great if you are in a hurry.

    • I totally agree! I went with the teapot because the french coffee press seemed like so many steps compared to my auto drip coffee maker – at least it is pretty to look at 🙂

    • Haha . I didn’t know that. I will be selling it where I sell other stuff…

      • Where do you sell things? I have so much stuff I need to get rid of and have the worst time finding a good sales site!

I’m honestly not very excited about anything in this box. It’s only my second box, so we will see if it gets any better from here…no offense, but an umbrella, really??? And the price on it is a bit ridiculous to me. I know they throw in a few odd thingsX but not practical things everyone probably already owns…

    • I was planning on taking mine to work, and using the hot water spigot on the coffee maker to make tea during the cooler fall and cold winter months. I think it will be adorable on my desk.

      • LOVE this idea! 🙂 I might have to copy you.

    • OMG, OMG! I think all of Britain and Canada just gasped and clutched their pearls reading that! Tea in a microwave?! Lol!

  24. Rose gold brush set, French press, black headphones for the dude, I hope I get the eyecream and the moisturizer. Added on the Murad wipes I love, the living proof shampoo and conditioner set, and the Briogeo conditioner. All the add-ons are on Sephora full price, so that was a decent amount of savings for me.

  25. Overall I like this box. The review did seem like a major ad, but it was well done. I am concerned about my choice of the teapot, where was it made? Like most of the people commenting about their concern of what’s in their beauty products, I am also concerned about what toxic chemicals are in China glazes

    • I agree Katie, I don’t like to think about what toxins might be in the that tea pot.

  26. I am so excited about this box. The $20 Beauty Blender was going to be a necessary purchase outside this box, so that meant the rest needed to be worth $30 to me. I have 15-year-old beauty brushes that have really needed replacement for awhile, so those Crown brushes, the GA cleanser, and the eye cream easily make it to the $50 point. Then I snagged some great addons (including the Elemis set! Sooooo excited!) And the tea towels, the shower gel, the masks, the umbrella, and the little granola bar, while not necessary, are just “icing on the cake” items.

I saw a lot of negative comments in reviews, and I just wanted to balance it and say I jumped on the annual subscriber wagon again because of this great box. I hope they keep the focus on great stuff like this instead of silly sayings (I quit after the gym bag box last time.) the skincare stuff and the beauty blender were easily enough to get me subscribing.

    • I second your post!! This box is tops!! I canceled for a while too I can’t take the “sayings”!! I think the people with the negative comments should find another box because I feel they worked magic with my 50 dollars!!

    • Sounds like you picked some great items + add ons! I also pay $20 for Beauty Blenders, so the value of the beauty products this season is amazing to me 🙂

    • JennR: I got the other ” classic” Elemis skin care kit that was a $29 Add On during the Summer Box FFF purchase window and I LOVE it!!!
Since I am possibly or probably the oldest sub. box addict here, I love the rich cleansing balm in the original formula kit.
I received a travel size of the Elemis Superfood foaming cleanser in another sub box when the Add Ons were live, and I had the Superfood set ( the one you bought) in my cart, but decided I had enough skincare with the GA products.

I really do like the fresh scent and most of the ingredient list in the Superfood Elemis products which are new to me ( the light green Superfood gel cleanser has one of the longest English- only ingredient lists I’ve seen, honestly) but it’s gentle and I was happy to see that my test strip is a totally non-reactive pH of 6.0, which is perfect for our skin. I could see the Superfood ” green” line being for the Summer FFF box and the slightly heavier moisturizing ” classic” Elemis kit being for the fall and into the Winter season, actually!
Now I wish I’d bought the set for that exact swapping up. Oh, heck.

  27. I know I’m being petty haha – but I get slightly annoyed when some people call the Vince Camuto bag the “Vince” bag. Just because Vince is a much better, higher end brand that should not be confused with Vince Camuto. Anyhow, rant over.

    • Honey the Vince brand is not anything more than a bridge line. It is far from couture. You can get Vince (not Vince Camuto) at Saks off 5th for $60. So there is not much difference to me.

  28. I wanted the headphones SO bad but they weren’t an option for me, I think due to where I live so I was bummed. Luckily the umbrella will get a lot of use where I am but definitely not as exciting as the headphones for me personally. Overall I am incredibly excited about this box and can’t wait for it to get here! I appreciate that FFF ships USPS for us at APO/FPO addresses so we can still receive our quarterly box of goodies! Thank you!!

    • Don’t be bummed! I got the headphones while my roommate got the umbrella, and I can tell you that the umbrella is WAY better value. The headphones sound like they’re breaking for a lot of people, but for me, even though they haven’t broken, I find that they’re no better than my $5 bluetooth headphones! They feel cheap, only stay charged for a pretty brief time, and fall out of my ears constantly – while the umbrella just feels high quality, is super useful for fall, and is way cute! You got the better option, even if it doens’t seem as cool.

  29. I can’t wait for my box and all the add on goodies I have coming😊 I’m so excited for the umbrella, farmacy , grown alchemist , – just excited for everything lol except the coffee reservoir that’s about it 😉 Everything else will have a home with me. I love that bag and brushes that I got both, and I got the umbrella and headphones as well, thanks so much Liz for the review I’m even more excited and can not wait for everything to come , amazing as always♥️

  30. I’ve subscribed for 5+ years and I’m now at a different time in my life. This particular autumn box feels more sophisicated and grown up without too many kitchy sayings which I truly appreciate!

I will be gifting the Vince tote to my cousin who will be a college freshman this year. She will also get the glow masks.

I will be keeping the towels as long as they are absorbant. And I’m keeping all the Grown Alchemist. I have 12 boxes on the way. 💙

    So many awesome products!

    • I agree. I think this Autumn box feels more fitting for most ages. Before with all the kitschy sayings it felt directed toward a very young group.

    • Twelve boxes? I fee a little jealousy. Lol! At one time I was receiving 9 boxes a month and thought I was really splurging. Lol.

      • Don’t feel bad. I was getting 16 until 2 of them(Peachy Box and Beyond Beautiful) went under. I think I’m addicted lol!!!

  31. This is by far the best Fall FFF box, ever! So excited! I went back to look at all of the past FFF boxes on MSA, dating back to 2014, and they have improved soo much through the years. Some of the early boxes are laughable compared to recent years. Keep up the awesome curation, FFF!!

    • Agreed. I feel like they finally listened to all the survey feedback. Updated w more tech items, ‘green’ items, useful things. Less kiddish, cheesy sayings, etc…

  32. Well, I still dislike the plastic tote (especially for this price), the 20% polyester boring design towels, tbe Beauty Blender I’ll never use, the Glam Glow that hurts my skin.

I don’t need another umbrella (I just got a Kate Spade one last season), nor a teapot (got one from Bombay and Cedar LE box). As a seasonal subscriber, I don’t know what my choice items will be.

I am not subscribed to a lot of boxes (6, 5 of which are beauty), so I am not tired of items. It’s more like I don’t need anything, really. And I am glad I don’t have to buy gifts anymore (only for men), but I also dislike putting the majority of items into the gift pile. I don’t even have this many friends and I have filled their boxes up to New Year.

It’s not FFF’s fault I like real leather, solid gold jewelry and cashmere scarves:))

    • Sounds like this isn’t the right box for you.

      • Yeah, I buy my own stuff.

        • One of my most fun things is mixing couture with ordinary goods, Pura Vida bracelets on one arm, diamond bracelets and one of my signature gold Tiffany bracelets on the other. I love to slap my Rolex on in the midst of the Pura Vida string bracelets for the high contrast. I think it’s fun and funny to mix a lot of things which usually aren’t paired together. Goes well with my minimalist casual style of dressed down designer separates.

I am now of the age ( I’m 60 and one day everyone reading this will be too, I hope) where I cannot skimp on quality skincare, but IMO, FFF delivered with the GA in great measure. I have used Grown Alchemist products for several years and as far as I know, they are not discounted at Neiman- Marcus.

I bought all the GA items as choices and the Add On items as well. Like Emilia, I skip the Glamglow for my absolutely young looking, unlined face I’ve babied for the past 40 years LOL.

I don’t use cloth kitchen towels because while I understand the principles of maintaining a sanitary kitchen very well due to my long years’ experience in a closely related profession, my husband doesn’t. I also understand that cloth is more ecologically friendly than disposable paper towels. It wouldn’t matter if the set of cloth towels are my grandmother’s hand embroidered darling mint as new ” tea” themed set of 6 towels which are truly heirlooms as they were made in the 1940’s, or if they are the FFF ones. I’m not going to risk him spreading salmonella or another harmful bacteria. I also do NOT hang nick nacks around in my modern kitchen.

As far as the vegan tote, I actually needed an almost flat, minimalistic style tote to carry legal documents in a few months ago, and didn’t have one. My totes are all medium to large Louis Vuitton ones. I do buy the best leather and brand names, but sometimes, a less expensive item will fit the bill for an unusual need.

So, like Emilia, I’ll buy my great jewelry, leather designer goods, my signature perfume which is a classic, cashmere sweaters and small goods like scarves, my Burberry coats, hats and small accessories, not FFF’s acrylic knitted items.
I have no disdain for those who use the less expensive items in sub boxes because I admire people who can be thrifty, young women who have children, or are saving money for their first home, or a new car.

I don’t have friends who appreciate these types of items for gifts, either. I have no family still living other than my minimalistic spouse, so what I get that I don’t use goes into large boxes in guest rooms until I go through them to pick out a few new candles to use or whatever.

          THE TRICKLE- DOWN EFFECT?
I’ve subbed to 3 new tea subscriptions because I’m excited about the teapot. 🙂 I didn’t want Eucalyptus scented bath salts so I read some bath and shower sub. box reviews and subscribed to a few which I think will deliver the most fun healthy fragranced items for quality relaxation.

Because of the eco- friendly message in the Summer box, our home is now without plastic water bottles. We use stainless steel for casual at home use around the pool or in the cars, and I’ve unpacked my fine crystal and put it in the kitchen cabinets to use. FFF taught me something important. We also don’t use plastic bags at stores unless they don’t have provisions for a customer’s bags.

I think the most important thing for all of us to remember is to live within our own means, not to covet what someone else has, or to look down on anyone else’s earthly possessions, but to be happy with the FUN that most of the really good sub. boxes can bring us. I consider FFF to be one of those worth buying because the things I WILL use still outweigh the cost of the boxes.

          • Mandy, you need a blog! I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. I’m 50 and can relate to a lot of what you say! My kids are teens though, so I can often share the things I get in the FFF box! I also have a minimalist hubby that is not responsible with wash cloths! I feel badly about my paper towel use, but I compost them so it’s not all bad!

          • Goodness I find it so obnoxious when rich people lecture others about not coveting possessions and living within their means. Especially when they bring in unnecessary details about their own designer possessions. I see what you’re trying to say but you could have just said, “I am at an age where I prefer luxury goods and I’m lucky enough to afford them but I find value in FFF even though not everything is for me.”

          • I appreciate your honesty Mandy. Although I am at a different place then you I understand what you are saying. I also have a minimalist husband who has become better at understanding my methods of cleaning and sanitizing. But I’m not sure what happens when I’m not looking. lol I enjoyed reading your post.
P.S. Would you consider adding a family member to pass on the items you don’t use? lol 🙂

    • Maybe take a break after your year is up?

    • Yeah, maybe you shouldn’t be subscribing to FFF if you only like expensive things. Just saying.

      • I’ve never liked any of the jewelry options from FFF and I’m usually not a fan of their accessories either. I just gift those items or send them to other friends that like sub boxes.

It doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to say I’d love to see FFF only including jewelry when it’s better quality. I’d also love to see them including some natural fabrics for accessories too.

I like the add ons selection and the edit sale was ok that’s the niche Fabfitfun seems to do best.

    • I mean for $50 I don’t think you can really expect or even hope to get real leather, solid gold, and/or cashmere…

      • I don’t ;))

    • Time to look at another subscription box service…Maybe PopSugar??? Maybe you can scout something out for us that offers the “higher end” products?

    • I don’t think FFF is the box for you since your tastes run towards the higher end things. I buy David Yurman (sterling) and Stella Mccartney (shaggy deer) and neither of those are real gold or leather.

I like FFF and I like high end. They are not mutually exclusive

How do you even know if the bubble masks will burn your delicate skin if you have never used them?

    • This just sounds like you bragging about being able to buy real leather bags and solid gold jewelry instead of an actual realistic complain about FFF. Since this box is $50 you can’t complain about them not giving you luxury items.

      • One can buy real leather and solid gold for cheap if they know where to go.

    • I never had an interest in this box until I saw the “plastic tote”. Just had to have that plastic I guess. Of course I AM the type of person who just bought a sectional at Sam’s club (saving $1000 from the next best one I could find in my style) and am really loving the $10 floral bouquet my husband bought me from Sam’s as well. I feel RICH!!! So I think that plastic tote will fit in nicely here. Thanks FFF 🙂

  33. Great review, Liz….as per usual! This will be my 8th FFF and I have always enjoyed seeing these in-depth reviews before receiving my box 😊

  34. I think the light bulb in the spring(?) box was my favorite bonus item. Always curious what will be added. I love Luna’s nuts over chocolate bar, but not many other flavors. It will be nice to try, but its not as unusual an addition as other “bonus” items.
And I loved your comment on the tea towels. Ten years from now, you might be saying the most used item (and where you really got your money’s worth) was the tea towels.
Final comment, if I think if each choice item as worth $10, the rest is only $20 and I’m more than getting my money’s worth. A VC tote at $10 gives me another bag to carry my laptop, tablet, or couple magazines & picture books to the doctor’s, the office or where ever. What I would like next is a stylish large bag that zips that I could carry on the airplane for an overnight trip without worrying that something might fall out.

    • The light bulb was Winter 2017 box, loved it too!!!

    • Yes, I love that light bulb! It was different but so useful for a sub box to send.

    • What was so special about the lightbulb???

      • The light bulb was sort of like a 3-way bulb, except instead of three different “brightness” options you got three “color” options (not sure that’s the appropriate description). You can have warm low light, warm high light or cool high light. Idk if that makes sense but it is a great bulb for sure. 😜

  35. I can’t believe I’m saying this but, “I don’t like this box!” I have always been excited for fff. If those tea towels, tea pot & poppy umbrella had a fall, trendy design they would’ve been nice. Anything fall, would’ve been nice. The bag is such a cheap design. I wish it would’ve been a more open & roomy design. I love the idea of it but, it’s too thin.
This box. It’s so oddly off. It’s like they gave the curation of this box over to strangers!

    • I’m hoping the bag with be good for my laptop and work files.

      • Oops *will

      • Only if you have a padded laptop sleeve, else it’s a little risky. The bag has no lining so it won’t offer any protection.

    • I agree…. in the minority as I canceled because I really didn’t like this curation. Just nothing that I liked.

  36. all in all i’m pretty excited about this box. i choose the black bag, black earbuds, and tea pot. also never tried beauty blender so i’m excited for that. the masks seem cool, and tea towels will always be useful. that said, i’m worried about the choices that are random… i really would love the eye cream since i don’t have a tub and the lipstick just isn’t something i’d use. as far as the GA products go, i’m hoping for the moisturizer or cleanser. this was my first add on sale, too, so i went overboard. can’t wait to get everything! exciting month. 🙂

    • You’ll love the beauty blender as long as you use a stippling motion, like bouncing it against your skin, don’t drag or move in circles. Really is worth the hype

      • Yes!! Also it’s worth the extra minute to wet it and wring it out as much as you can…

  37. Thanks for the great review. I have an annual subscription. I am not very excited about this box, so a lot of it will probably be going up for swaps. I just wanted to say that their customer service is amazing. I have a coconut allergy and can’t use products with coconut derivatives. Last quarter I emailed asking about the ingredients in some products and while they didn’t know, they did offer to swap anything that contained coconut products. It turned out that 3 choice items contained stuff from the dreaded coconut and they sent me free replacementshipping for 2 of them (the 3rd the other item had coconut as well).
FFF is great with accommodating allergies and their customer service gets an A+ from me.

    • That is good to know. I am allergic as well, and I have just always given something I couldn’t use away. Thanks for sharing!

    • I originally signed up for seasonal subscription and then couldn’t customize for the stuff I really wanted and so decided to spring for the annual subscription. Now, I love my box. I work in an office so the black bag is perfect and the tea pot will be adorable on my desk. I wish I had bought the brush set. I’m digging the skin care. The cleanser took off *all* my make-up and eye-cream is lovely. I usually use a brush for my foundation so I’m excited to try the blender. The only items I’m not going to use are the bubble masks but my teenage niece will enjoy them.

  38. I’m probably a weirdo but I love getting tea towels in boxes. I chose the gray tote, the teapot and the French press, the eye cream and the GA moisturizer (wishing I had added the exfoliant). I was really selective with add-ons this time and got the Blotterazzi, the Murad Invisiblur and the copper cocktail shaker. I’m super-happy with this box and can’t wait to receive mine. The fall FFF was one of the first boxes I ever got a few years ago, so I think I’ll always have a soft spot for it.

  39. Thank you for the great review, Liz! I’m always excited to get my FFF boxes, but your reviews always make me even more pumped up. I’m looking forward to getting the bag and teapot the most. However, I’m also looking forward to using the Beauty Blender because I’ve never tried one before.

    Long live Fabfitfun!

  40. I couldn’t decide on tote or brushes/ coffee press or teapot…I just ordered both.

  41. I’m super thrilled with this box, even though I’m not keeping every single item. For reference, I have not been a regular subscriber to this box and end up with a seasonal or “editors” box a couple times a year. I did not get the summer box, nor did I want it. Just figured out this year that I like FabFitFun a lot more than Popsugar, so I’m sticking with this for now.

  42. Liz, just a heads up for anyone else with celiacs the grown alchemist day dream contains wheat. Not a problem for most people since gluten proteins are too large to be absorbed through skin, but some gluten sensitive people would rather not risk accidental ingestion!

Personally, about five years after my celiacs diagnosis, I found myself reacting to topical wheat as well! I get very itchy. But i had the “celiac rash” before i was diagnosed so my skin may be more sensitive than others.

I love your reviews! And a gf protein bar really is a pleasant surprise in a sub box 🙂

    • Thank you, Anne! I have a wheat allergy, and I didn’t know that.

      • Beth, did you by chance see the comment above regarding a coconut allergy and FFF sending a swap item and free return shipping? May be worth looking into if you get that GA product!

  43. This was a budget cut for me but Liz you make me want to finagle my coins and see what I can come up with since there are some lovely things I wouldn’t mind having. Your review revived my interest in this Fall Box. Thanks!

    • Tanya,
Plenty of us that aren’t thrilled with the box would probably offer up items at box split price.

  44. I am so suprised that so many people don’t like this box 😳 For me it is probably one of my favorites so far! I did not like last falls box at all but this one is 👌 So good 😊 love it!

    • I think it’s product overload. I only get 2-3 boxes per quarter (BOTM, FFF, and Breo) so I get excited about getting my boxes. But for those who get several boxes a month? It’s probably harder to keep up with.

    • I actually like this more than last fall’s! The scarf is too big for me, so it’s a bed runner, I didn’t love the gym bag (I need one I can toss in the wash), the beanie looked weird on me and the ACV made my hair look greasy (however little I used). It certainly wasn’t a bad box, but I just see myself using more from this one!

I’m excited to try out Farmacy and GA, both are brands I’ve wanted to try, but they’re so pricy! Even the less exciting things (like the towels and body wash) will still get used.

      • You’ll regret trying them…they are so good, definitely worth the money. I say regret because you aren’t wrong about the price and will be sorely tempted to buy more from them. They use quality ingredients, and they charge a lot for it. At least sephora sale is just around the corner, so can get a small portion off then.

      • Your comment gave me bad flashbacks of using that ACV rinse. My hair had never been so disgusting as it was after that, haha.

        • I wanted to love that ACV rinse SO badly!

          • Lol, to each their own! I was so skeptical about the ACV rinse. Didn’t want to try it. A couple months later, I gave it a go and fell in LOVE. Unfortunately, it retails for $30-ish, and I go through it fast. 🙁
I bought 3 more at the FabFitFun add-on sale this time around. Was super excited. :):)

          • I’m glad it worked so well for you!! I was really excited about it and disappointed with how it left my hair after using it. I used half the bottle before I finally gave in and realized it just wasn’t for me.

    • I like this box way more than last Fall’s, for me the lack of excitement was due to the first spoilers they rolled out not being my cup of tea (no pun intended). The bag vs brush set was a “bad vs worse” choice for me. I didn’t get into it till the headphones and beauty items started rolling out. In contrast, with the last Summer box, I was hooked from spoiler 1 and everything they revealed after was something I was very much into (the items I was so-so abut came at the very end of spoilers).
Even though I’ve complained about this box some, if Winter looks as good as the last two boxes have and they keep allowing for so much customization, I’m thinking of doing an annual sub. They better knock the winter box out the the park! 😉

    • I’m surprised, too. I thought it looked great! I was so excited to see French press as a choice, seems unique and fun. Also the brands are so popular, and used to seem sought after.

  45. I realize I am in the minority but I just don’t get the hype surrounding this box. It is just a bunch of overpriced stuff. That Vince bag looks cheap and if you put anything else besides a laptop in it its going to look weird. I am so sick of some wanna be celebrity hacking this box on FB. I doubt any of them pay for this box. Sorry to be so snarky but I don’t get it.

    • Same!! I’m tired of all the sponsored videos on youtube and Facebook and everyone hyping it all the time. It is a nice box for someone, I just have no interest in it. I subbed once for a year and swapped nearly everything I got. I just don’t understand it.

    • I think FFF is one of the worst culprits for over-inflating values. That said, I almost always objectively feel like I got my money’s worth. FFF’s skincare and haircare offerings are particularly nice, and often sell for the full stated retail value. Different strokes, I guess…

      • Out of curiosity, on what items in this box has FFF overinflated the values? The items I looked up (the umbrella, the Vince Camuto bag, and the various beauty products) all sell on the products’ websites for the price that is listed on the review. That’s not to say that the MSRP may be ridiculously high (I personally wouldn’t pay $128 for a faux leather bag by Vince Camuto or anyone else…), and you may be able to find some of the products on sale or listed on places like Amazon for lower prices…but the listed Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is set by the manufacturer, not by FabFitFun…and I can’t recall a time where FFF has (unlike several other subs I’ve had in the past) listed a price that is higher than the maker’s suggested retail value. So I guess I don’t understand how FFF is overinflating the values of these things? The exception is when they are FFF’s own brands…(like Summer & Rose) or “special collaborations”…then I would agree that they are probably overinflating the price. But on the name brand items, I don’t personally see that. There are other subs that add shipping costs or “curation costs” into the price, and actually list a higher price in their booklets than what the actual RV of the item is…but I haven’t seen this with FFF.

        • It’s kind of like when a store ups the price of pasta sauce from three to four dollars, and the next week it’s on sale for two because want people to think they are getting it for half price.

          • Sorry didn’t finish. I think FFF is working with the retailers, not just ordering from them. So it’s both.

        • I totally agree with you! I can be a bit of a skeptic when it comes to ARVs, so I actually looked up EVERY SINGLE price on each item for my first 2 boxes from FFF and the ARVs they have listed are what you would pay directly to each manufacturer. I think paying $50 for an average $300 worth of products, is an amazing value! I might gift an item or 2, but still wind up liking/loving most of it.

        • I agree. I don’t understand what people are complaining about. The beauty blender really is 20 dollars..I buy them at sephora all the time…and that alone is almost half the box. Yes some items are sold for more than what one thinks they are worth…but that’s being listed by the brand not FFF…. and those people complaining that the bag isn’t real leather…you’re paying 50 bucks for this box, what do you expect?

        • The VC bag is a collaboration with FFF. I have had VC bags and this is far from there norm. I looked at the sight and there was a deeper tote, real leather, lined, zipper closure, and multiple pockets for only $23 more than the stated RV. I opted for the brush set even though I have more than a makeup artist! But they will be great to throw in the train case from the spring box.
Everything else I feel is appropriately priced.

        • Retail buyer here. FFF is definitely overinflating the values for most of the products, especially with the VC tote. I won’t get into details but I’m very familiar with bag production costs, and this particularly VC one is something retailers can sell to you at $10 and still make a profit. It’s far for being worth the listed $128, which makes FFF rather deceptive. Similarly, the makeup brush set, fancy teapot, umbrella, french press, and earphones are all super cheap to manufacture. Cheap meaning $2-5 at most. FFF is selling us a nice story that these items are valued at over $200 though. Go figure.

          • Pizza delivery, nail salons, car washes etc. are all inflating their value, too.

    • I totally agree. I subbed for a year and now have a cupboardful of stuff that I wouldn’t have dreamt of buying myself and have no use for. I don’t know why I allowed myself to get sucked into the hype, it’s ridiculous. The cheap jewelry with ludicrous RV (that you could get on Ali Express for two bucks but that I wouldn’t because I hate cheap jewelry), the hideous shades of lipstick, yet another scarf, yet another towel, etc. Some people like the box, I get it, but I regret subbing. Now I just stick to Boxwalla.

  46. I have a life threatening peanut allergy and live chatted with FFF to see if they would be willing to remove the bar from my box. They replied right away and said they would be happy to take it out from my box. They have amazing customer service! Also I am hoping to buy my first house soon so a lot of these items will come in handy. Thank you Liz for your awesome review!

    • That’s awesome! I’m really glad to hear that. Now that food seems to appear in some boxes (there was something in the Pinterest box, I think) I gave been kind of worried because I have a pretty severe food allergy. Good to know I could contact them if needed!

  47. I am most excited about the teapot and the Vince Camuto Bag for my laptop. I got an extra one for my work then my personal laptop. I hope I get the Farmacy Eye Cream because I am seasonal – I can only hope and wish and keep my fingers crossed. The umbrella goes to my mom. I love bonus items and the bar goes to my purse in case I go hungry in LA traffic. It’s always a good value. Would it be possible for you to pose with the umbrella open for size? Thank you for the wonderful review.

  48. I like Popsugar Fall best but will be gifting most of this box to my mom. I like the add ons I chose at least.

  49. Great variety of items this month! I’m so excited to get my box. I love all of the brand name products we get each time. This is why I will always keep my FabFitFun subcription. I truly appreciate how we were able to select 5 of the items. I went with the Farmacy eye cream because I think $40 for bath salt is absurd, and I got the Grown Alchemist product I wanted most. Such a great deal for a $50 box.

  50. OMG!!! This is the VERY first time that I have ever been disappointed with the actual box itself!!! Thank goodness for the customizations and the add-ons. this box is a huge disappointment!!! the tea towels can go right along with the beauty blender!! We just received a silver-silicone beauty blender in a recent box.!!! I’m very skeptical about renewing!!!!

    • The thing I like the most is the tea towels and granola bar 😲. I just finished up my annual, so I will be canceling and from here on it will be a box by box decision.

And I do appreciate the “value” but if you find the real prices then it’s lower (obviously not GA), so thats a little misleading.
