BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's most recent review of the super chewer box!

August 2018 Barkbox Review

The August BarkBox featured a few animal toys along with new treats from BarkBox!

It includes an information card. These typically highlight a few items - some which you may or may not have received.

Let's dig in!

Anita The Anteater

Our first toy was an Anteaters. It's a two-in-one toy - like a lot of BarkBox toys these days.

Pull on Anita's tail to capture the bug and start your tug of war!

It's made of t-shirt rope and the plush has a squeaker and a crinkly tail.

Buckles went to the box and tore this out while we were setting up photos! He absolutely went crazy for it!

Three-toed Monte - Value $10

The second toy is a furry blue sloth. It's loaded with a squeaker belly and head - and crinkly limbs!

It's really soft and a good size for our small 15-pound dog.

Again - he had a BLAST! He was really into his dog box photos this month - and he's still loving these toys every day in the office.

Bark of the Wild Trout and Vegetable Blend - Value $8-12?

Both treats come from BarkBox's Bark of the Wild brand this month. The first we tried is a trout and veggie blend treat.

These are wheat, soy, and corn free treats - and they're soft and chewy. Pretty much the perfect combo for our dog.

It was no surprise that he LOVES these treats.

Bark of the Wild Pork and Vegetable Blend - Value $8-12?

All of the same attributes apply to the second bag of treats - except this time, the flavor is pork instead of trout.

I think he favored the pork flavor just a bit more than the trout - but still, happy to munch on either.

Dozers Dental Chews - Value $3-4?

The final item in the box is a frog-shaped dental chew from Dozers. I was pretty hesitant to have Buckles try this one because he typically shies away from hard chews...but he was really insistent on trying!

He wouldn't let go! He finished this entire thing before the end of the day. This is probably a repurchase for us since we're always trying to get him to eat a treat that will help his teeth.

Verdict: This was the best BarkBox for our dog, yet. Not only did he go wild for both toys and both treats - but his favorite item was the frog chew - and he never goes for the chew. Huge win for us this month!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month's box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

I signed up in the beginning of August for the 12 month plan and was told my box would ship immediately but it still hasn’t shipped. When I contacted customer service they said it was delayed because of a warehouse move. I was told on two separate occasions that it would ship in the next couples days plus some extras to hold my pup over, but that hasn’t come either. Has anyone else experienced this delay? Overall customer service was very kind and said they would ship extra items plus my September and October boxes will be free. But what I really care about is when my box will come. I’ve been holding off on buying toys this month for my puppy but its really becoming a long wait.

I signed up with the free extra toy coupon so I got the chameleon, flamingo looking thing and a frog. Is it sad that they are so cute I almost don’t want to give them to my dog? LOL. He’s still working on last month’s toys anyways…. 😉

My two dogs love this month’s box. My favorite yet. I got the box for medium dogs so I got the chameleon and the ugly slug which is a two in one toy. So cute!

My dog got the same combo and it was a definite win. Our poor sloth is looking a little worse for wear – my dog LOVES to pull at stuffed critters’ fur so he’s got a couple bald spots, but it is amazingly still in good shape even after being the favored toy for tug of war with another dog. We’re under the ‘extra toy’ plan so we also got Karla Chameleon with color changing fabric too. Another great month from Bark Box!
