BuddhiBox Yoga June 2018 Box Review

BuddhiBox mantra

BuddhiBox packing list

BuddhiBox always includes a card with a mantra or saying on it. On the reverse is this month's packing list. Notice that most of the products are cruelty-free, organic, vegan, or more than one!

BuddhiBox yoga pose BuddhiBox firefly pose

There's also usually a card featuring a yoga pose. This month's pose is Firefly Pose. The back side of the card talks about the Sanskrit word for the pose (Tittibhasana) and what it means, how to access the pose, and the benefits. This is a challenging one that requires a ton of core strength!

BuddhiBox book

I've Decided to Live 120 Years: The Ancient Secret to Longevity, Vitality, and Life Transformation by Ilchi Lee — Retail Value $19.95 (Found on sale here for $18.71)

Any time BuddhiBox has included a book in their box, it's always been a good'n. This is an easy read with large-ish print, offering easy-to-read insights on living fully. I can't say that I'm seeking to live to 120 years old, but I did still pick up on some great tips for a fulfilling lifestyle.

Amazon book summary:

New York Times bestselling author and one of the most renowned meditation teachers in our time, Ilchi Lee challenges you to radically rethink your ideas on aging, health, personal fulfillment, and what's possible in your lifetime.

This highly anticipated book has been already loved by many big name authors including don Miguel Ruiz, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Michael Beckwith, and Dr. Emeran Mayer. This is the book of life mastery for the brave hearted.

For most of our lives, we work hard, reaching for success, until we are faced with retirement. If you retire at age 65, you may think you have about 20 more years to relax and enjoy your life. But what if you had more time? What if you had another 40 or 50 years to live? Would it make a difference in how you lived?

Ilchi Lee stresses that you can extend your life way beyond what most of us have accepted as our biological age limit, even up to 120 years. But the real question is, can we have not only a long life, but also a fulfilling one? Lee's answer is a resounding yes, and it starts with the power of choice, a practice of self-reliance, and most importantly, a greater sense of purpose.

A visionary and master teacher who globalized ancient Korea's mind-body tradition, Ilchi Lee lays out a clear path to a new paradigm of longevity and mastery of life. Through personal experience, compelling stories, the wisdom of an ancient Korean holistic practice, and current research on longevity and fulfillment, Lee shows readers how to live fully at any age without regrets.

The inspiration and practical advice you find in this book propels you to make the necessary changes in your life that would make a 120-year life full of vitality, passion, and purpose possible.

BuddhiBox hard perfume

BuddhiBox perfume

BuddhiBox solid perfume

Gypsy Woman Solid Perfume, 0.5 oz — Retail Value $25.00

This petite perfume tin is a great one to toss in your purse or a weekend bag and trust that it won't leak. The scent isn't my favorite—it's a blend of all sorts of essential oils including ylang-ylang which I have historically not been able to get into. The idea is that when mixed with one's own individual pheromones, it'll smell a little different on everyone, and I do like that concept. It's certainly earthy and natural smelling, which is appealing in a way, but I'll probably pass it along as a gift since I have other oils and perfumes that I feel represent me much better. I will say that even if I loved this scent, a $25 price tag seems unreasonably steep for such a small container!

BuddhiBox spray BuddhiBox pitta spray BuddhiBox pitta spray

Paavani Ayurveda Pitta Cooling Spray, 1 oz. – Listed Value $10.00, for 1 oz. bottle (Buy a 2 oz. bottle here for $12.00)

This is an energizing spray made with a blend of peppermint, lemongrass, bergamot, rosemary, and several citrus oils. Actually, a lot of these oils are ones I planned on adding into a homemade bug repellant, but I decided to skip making it myself and use this instead. That's not a listed use on the bottle, so I wasn't fully expecting it to work...I can't say for sure whether it did or not because I used it while sitting next to a campfire and I know sometimes smoke can fend off the bugs, too. I smelled great, though!

This item was also included in this month's BuddhiBox Essential Oils box.

BuddhiBox pouch

BuddhiBox velvet pouch

BuddhiBox necklace

BuddhiBox necklace

BuddhiBox Evil Eye Necklace — Listed Value $28.00

Sometimes the jewelry I receive in BuddhiBox subscriptions is really beautiful but not that practical in reality—for example, they included a cuff bracelet with a really top-heavy piece of quartz on it one month. I loved the concept, but it was really a pain to wear. Anyway, that's not at all the case with this lovely necklace! Its small gold eye hangs from a sparkling cable chain and the whole thing offers a great, simple look that's a little different from the norm. The info card says this necklace is gold-plated, but I'm not sure what type of gold. I point this out because even though I'm more of a costume jewelry kind of lady and don't need my gold jewelry to have a certain amount of carats, $28 strikes me as a bit high for this delicate accessory. I love it either way!

BuddhiBox kind lips

BuddhiBox lip balm

Kind Lips Sweet Mint Lip Balm – Retail Value $5.00

Uplifting in its scent, this natural lip balm is minty and refreshing! It’s made with a blend of healthy oils and uses many organic ingredients. I actually received this lip balm in both this month's BuddhiBox Essential Oils box and another box, so I already cracked one open and gifted one to my mum. I like the one I've been using so much that I think I'll stash this one away and save it for when my first one runs out or (more likely) gets lost.

BuddhiBox matcha powder

BuddhiBox matcha tea

Motion Matcha, Single Serve Packet— Listed Value $3.00 (Buy 12 here for $14.99)

Matcha tea is an acquired taste, and while I do enjoy its earthiness, I have to be in the mood for it. When I do decide to make a latte using this powder, I’ll probably add it to unsweetened vanilla almond milk and make it frothy using my immersion blender!

This item was also included in this month's BuddhiBox Essential Oils box.

BuddhiBox matcha

To go along with the matcha sample, they provided a 25% off + free shipping coupon code to BuddhiBox subscribers.

BuddhiBox palo santo incense

Green Tree Palo Santo Incense — Retail Value $2.95

This wasn't listed on the card but was pretty easy to find online. I light incense in my home quite often, so I was happy to receive a scent I don't usually keep on hand. I will say it doesn't smell like palo santo at all to me—it's kind of perfume-y and a little overwhelming for a summer day. My husband (who, like me, loves to have incense lit in the house) actually asked that I put it out. Maybe I'll still light it in a more open-air setting next time, where it can waft around and not fill our house as much.

BuddhiBox incense holder

BuddhiBox incense

Elephant Incense Holder — Retail Value $3.92

This additional bonus item is a wooden incense holder with gold stars and an elephant. I am so excited about it! My only incense holder seems to have had its hole-punched crookedly, so when I put an incense stick in it, it burns lopsided and the tray doesn't catch the fallen ash. I keep forgetting to buy a new one, so I usually just put my incense sticks in the soil of a potted plant these days. But having this fresh holder with its hole at the proper angle is life-changing!

The Verdict: It was a good month for BuddhiBox! Since so many of the items in this month's box are repeats from the Oils box, my favorites were the necklace and the perfume (despite not loving its scent). That said, I'm happy to have a backup of some of the products I knew and love from my Oils box! This box costs $34.95 plus $5 shipping (so $39.95 total). Using a combo of retail values and list prices where retail values weren't available, the contents of this box add up to a total of $97.82. I pointed out a few instances where I felt listed values and retail prices were a little high throughout my review, but even if each had a lower price point, this box would still offer great value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the July box. Order by the 8th of the month to receive that month's box.

Value Breakdown: At $34.95 + $5 shipping for this box, each of the 8 items in the box has an average cost of $4.99.
