UrbaneBox May 2018 Review

UrbaneBox has moved in the direction of including more well-known brands in their boxes in response to subscriber feedback. I was happy with my box last month, so let’s see what I get this time around.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Return

There is a flat rate envelope for any returns/exchanges you may have. You simply log on to your account and request a return label if needed. All shipping charges for size exchanges are free.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Blazer Front

Urbane Box May 2018 - Blazer Back

BLVD Solid Hip Length Buttoned Blazer in Black, Size M

BLVD is a young women’s contemporary clothing line based in LA. They offer high fashion inspired looks at affordable prices. This blazer is made of 100% polyester and has a little give so it isn’t too restricting. It’s also fully lined which makes it easy to glide on and off. There are two front pockets that are stitched shut but fully functional if you want to open them. The buttons are actually snaps that are hidden when fastened. I’m happy with the quality of this piece, but the fit feels a little boxy for me. I tend to wear blazers that accentuate my waist to try and play down the width of my upper body.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Blazer Front Buttoned

Here it is buttoned up. I prefer it unbuttoned.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Top Front

Urbane Box May 2018 - Top Back

BLVD Solid Chiffon Choker Top in Dusty Navy, Size L

I thought it was interesting that a large was included since I selected medium as my size, but I see why they did so. This shirt would have been too snug in a smaller size since it’s polyester and has no stretch. The top half of the top is lined (around the bust area) so it’s not sheer and the fabric floats away from my midsection without adding bulk. I like the weight of this chiffon; it’s thick enough that I’m not worried about snagging it with my jewelry but still has good movement.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Top Neckline

I love tops with necklines like this. I think it gives a little sass to an otherwise simple top.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Top Sleeve

There are buttons at the cuffs for easy on and off.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Top Back Detail

The collar is cuffed and fastens at the back of the neck with two small buttons. I like the keyhole opening and that it doesn’t dip low enough to show any bra.

Urbane Box May 2018 - Tank Front

Urbane Box May 2018 - Tank Back

Skys the Limit Asymmetrical Lace Trim Paisley Patch Tank in Thyme Multi, M

This tank is made of the softest fabric I’ve ever felt! It is a poly/spandex mix but feels like super soft, thick sued cotton. The hem is asymmetrical and long enough to cover the necessary areas if I were to wear this with leggings. It’s fitted without being too tight – perfect for layering under jackets. And, while I’m usually not a lace lover, I like the simplicity and feel of this trim.

Verdict: UrbaneBox is working on including bigger brands in their boxes to assure good quality and fit. I think it worked well for me this month and I like that they are listening to the needs of their subscribers. Two of the items are hits and one (the blazer) is an item I need to try to style in different ways. The quality of everything is quite good and for $60, I received some great, staple items for my wardrobe hand selected for me by a stylist. Part of that value is knowing you get free shipping and size exchanges and that you don’t have to do anything except wait for your package to arrive and enjoy. No pressure to decide what you want; everything is yours to keep. I love that subscribers can skip months or request more boxes too! I’m looking forward to my June box coming soon!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? UrbaneBox curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: At $60 for this box, each item averaged out to $20 each.

Im really liking Urbane. I currently sub to Nadine West and its just Okay. I think Urbane is a contender. It may be more money but you cant beat the quality.

The jacket would be less boxy with some darts, a tailor could do them pretty quickly for not too much money.

The sleeves are too short! It would “fit” better if the sleeves were longer.

Maybe I could have a tailor add darts and shorten the sleeves to make it 3/4 length. But then I’m thinking the cost might be higher than it’s worth. Thanks for the feedback!
