Yasss Hunny Fluff, 7 oz
This fluff is an ultra-whipped soap that was created by happy accident when Ahhh Sugar Sugar was working on the foot scrub in last month’s box. I am happy the accident happened because this soap is so lavish! I think it is the prettiest soap I have ever owned (look at the rainbow colors!), and it has a lovely orange creamsicle scent that stayed faintly on my skin even after my shower was over. This soap is so thick that it doesn’t automatically melt into water, which helps a little bit of soap go a very long way. This generous tub will be lasting me a long while!
Fantasea Solid Bubble Bath – Estimated Value $6.75 (based on previous prices of bubble bars from the brand)
How adorable is this mermaid tail bubble bar? I love the swirling colors of teal and purple, and it has a lovely tropical scent thanks to the coconut and tropical fruit on the scent list. My bubble bar came wrapped in bubble wrap but was still broken, however, I am not fussed because it is perfectly in half and I never use an entire bubble bar at once. I do wish the scent was stronger with this, however, as the scent wasn’t very noticeable once the bubbles were made. This wasn’t the most powerful bubble bar I have ever used, but it made enough bubbles to still feel like a treat.
Blueberry Yum Yum Lustre Custard, 2 oz – Estimated Value $3.63
Oh man, this smells JUST like a blueberry donut and it is heavenly. Sometimes bakery scented bath and body products smell artificial, but this lotion smells like I just ordered a blueberry donut and am about to inhale it. This has biodegradable cosmetic-grade shimmer in it, but I didn’t find any noticeable shimmer (maybe I need to just step into the light like Edward in Twilight). This took a bit to absorb fully, but once my skin soaked it in there was no greasy residue. This is very moisturizing, so I will be using this on the drier parts of my body (though with all of the bath boxes I review it’s a bit of a wonder I have any dry skin at all). A 4 oz jar of their regular (non-shimmery) custard retails for $7.25, so that is where my estimated value comes from.
Put on Your Birthday Suit Soy Candle, 4 oz
This candle was made in collaboration between Ahhh Sugar Sugar and The Barn at Post Oak and it is the first candle to be included in a monthly box from Ahhh Sugar Sugar. I couldn’t find a candle from the brand to do a value estimation, but that doesn’t keep this candle from being AWESOME. This candle had my heart when I saw a unicorn statute on the lid, but then when I opened the candle to find sprinkles I think I died a little on the inside—this company knocks it out of the park when it comes to unique and lovely goods. The scent description on this is birthday cake, fruit loops, clary sage, and jasmine, and immediately after smelling this candle I got a strong urge to go to Cold Stone and buy a cake batter ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. I said no to the ice cream today, but that hasn’t kept me from burning this candle all evening and loving every second! If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish this candle fragrance was a bit more powerful, as I love it when a candle can make my entire apartment smell amazing. This little guy doesn’t have that horsepower (unicorn power?), but It still smells quite delicious.
The Verdict: This box really has some incredible attention to detail. The adorable cats, unicorns, and mermaids scattered throughout this box really brought me joy, and the creativeness in packaging, scents, and products really brings into focus why there are currently more than 100 people on the waiting list to become subscribed to this box. I could only find a value estimate for two of the four items, and those two items only equal $10.38. That means the other two items would need to have a value of $32.93 to break even with the cost of the box (shipping included), and I don’t think that is the case. However, that doesn’t mean that this box isn’t worth it—this box has an incredible attention to detail and creativeness that is hard to find in the industry, and you are paying for exclusive products that were freshly made for each months box. Most items featured in the box are box exclusives, which adds to the overall value as well. This subscription isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea due to the price, however, if it is your cup of tea I think you will be very, very happy.
