Jay and Silent Bob Mystery Box Review

The box featured items for your home, your car, your desk, and yourself! This was originally set to ship in December 2017 and was later changed to start shipping on 4/20 of this year - and it's still available.

It comes with an information card that lists the items from the box.

Mallrats Blueprint Shirt - Value $15?

Let's start with the exclusive Mallrats tee!

Clerks and Mallrats arrived around the perfect time for my older brother to latch onto and pass down to me, so this shirt is bringing back all the memories.

It features Jay's blueprint to bring down the dating show being shot in the mall. It led to this fantastic moment from Kevin Smith:

This shirt feels like a must-have from the View Askewniverse.

Nails Lunch Bag - Value $20?

Nails is a fictional brand use across numerous movies in the View Askewniverse - now you can take it to work.

It's got some insulation for your lunch, along with a mesh section to partition some items.

It's about 9 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide - it will easily fit your lunch for the day - and comes with a handle to tote it around.

Jay and Silent Bob Plush Dolls - Value $20?

These little guys are about 5 inches tall and are a bit of a throwback to the Clerks animated series that I used to binge watch.

They don't really stand on their own, so you'll need to lean them against something - I've got mine leaning against my Sonos speaker!

Bluntman and Chronic Hand Towels - Value $15-20?

By the time I was in high school, I had become a big fan of anything Kevin Smith. It was just in time for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back to hit the theaters! And while Jay and Silent Bob's alert-egos Bluntman and Chronic made their first appearance in Chasing Amy, they were much more front-and-center in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. These towels commemorate their superhero uniforms!

The towels are about 9.5 inches square and will definitely spice up your kitchen or bathroom.

They're single sided and fell like a thinner terrycloth-like material.

Bartleby Bottle Opener - Value $10?

As big as Mallrats and Clerks were for me - I think Dogma was my favorite from that era. It was made out to be like an event for us because a lot of the Mooby's scenes were shot at a local Burger King that was converted into Mooby's - it was a big deal in high school.

Anyways, a major piece of Dogma revolved around Loki and Bartleby - Ben Affleck's character - and this huge 4-inch bottle opener depicts one of his biggest scenes:

Mooby's Tumbler - Value $15-20?

Getting back to Mooby's - you'll get this insulated tumbler!

It's your basic tumbler with screw-on lid and straw - and, of course, features Mooby!

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Air Fresheners - Value $3-4?

The last item in the mystery box is a nod to Mallrats. It took me a second to remember what this was in reference to, but once I did remember, I'm glad that these simply smelled like chocolate pretzels 😉

Verdict: After adding up all of the values, it certainly hits the $100 value promise. I thought that they did a good job of hitting a few different movies from the View Askewniverse, and while I think I would have preferred a vinyl figure version of Jay and Silent Bob, I still liked the items in the box. My one challenge is that there wasn't that one single item that you just know is the hero item from the box - but with that, I'm still really loving the shirt, lunch bag, tumbler, and bottle opener.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yep. these are still available while supplies last.

To me, the hero item would definitely be the shirt. I would wear that proudly (even though nobody ever “gets” my t-shirts… but when they do we both feel extra cool about it. haha!). I totally remembered the chocolate covered pretzels (I’ve seen Mallrats countless times), so the inclusion of those made me chuckle right away, and thanks for the Dogma and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back references. I think those are the only ones I haven’t seen a ton, so those items were lost on me for a sec. Great (and fun!) review! 🙂

Thanks for the review Eric!! I just saw this the other day and was hoping it would be reviewed here. 🙂

HUGE fan here and while every item made me smile I kinda was hoping for “more”. lol Please review the next one if you can or post any spoilers you run into.

(like the pretzel in-joke, took me a second to remember, HAHA)

This was my favorite box of the whole year so far! I was looking for a hero item too but I love everything that came in the box and I know we will use it all so I’m happy. We are already fighting over the Mooby’s cup : ) Does anyone know if this was a one time box or if there will be another one?

It seems like it’s a one-off box – here’s to hoping they get a big enough response that it becomes quarterly!

While these items wouldn’t fit into my #adulting house this was a really fun review! I loved everything about these movies. I saw Jay and Silent Bob get old a few years ago and was just awesome!
