Enchanted Crystal: Crystal of the Month May 2018 Review
First, you'll see a greeting from Adam of Enchanted Crystal who is all about motherly love for May.
Next, there's an info sheet all about the featured Crystal of the Month: Amethyst.
Amethyst Crystal
This lovely clear and ombre purple amethyst hailing from Morocco isn't the largest specimen, but it's quite lovely. Reading the info sheet included, I learned that the only difference between this crystal and quartz is the amethysts exposure to gamma radiation. "The radiation excites the atomic structure of the quartz and causes electrons to jump all around forming a new unstable crystal lattice". That, in turn, "disrupts the way the light spectrum now passes through the crystal" and essentially leads us to view it as this purple hue. Very cool to learn this!
While researching the metaphysical properties of this one, it started to sound familiar. That's because amethyst was also the crystal of the month in February, just 3 months ago. While it is a bit of a bummer considering how many choices there are out there, this one is drastically different than the one I received in February so I'm not too bent out of shape about it.
Amethyst is a calming stone of patience that promotes balance and peace, so if you're stressed and feeling like you're being pulled several different ways, this one will help you cut through difficult emotions to see a clear path to the right decision.
As always, there are bonus crystals or minerals sent along with the crystal of the month. These are always fun to research as they don't come with any literature.
Sodalite
This is the largest specimen of the bunch and I'm drawn to its deep lapis color (I love blue gemstones and crystals). Looking online, I think I'd prefer a tumbled version of this which would have a glossy smooth finish, but the granite-esque color combination and texture is still really handsome. This stone will encourage self-esteem and improve your intuition and like the amethyst will aid you in focusing on a task at hand without being clouded with emotion that could hinder your judgment.
Pyrite
I feel like this was a stone I was drawn to a lot as a kid due to how much it sparkles and glitters like gold. This, of course, is how it got its common nickname "fools gold" since it was easily mistaken for its much more valuable lookalike. Holding this in my hand, it's quite easy to get lost in the glitz that seems a bit hypnotizing. Following in a theme, I found this helpful info about pyrite via crystalvaults.com:
Pyrite is a crystal of positive energy and is extremely helpful for melancholy and thoughts fixed on misfortune and despair. It relieves anxiety and frustration, and as a mirror to the self, reveals the causes behind these emotions and promotes a search for solutions. Pyrite also allows one to see beyond pretense, to what truly lies behind words and actions. It provides the insight that often things that disturb us in others are also present in us.
Fluorite Octahedron
Honestly, this one may be my favorite this month mainly because I'm impressed that its shape is naturally formed! This stone is all about mental clarity which again, follows this month's unspoken theme. Mine is mostly a greyish clear with a hint of purple. Healingcrystals.com sheds some light:
Purple Fluorite stimulates the Third Eye Chakra and brings some common sense to psychic intuitions. Use Purple Fluorite when you want to really focus on the expression of Spirit and communicate precisely its messages.
Verdict: Even though Enchanted Crystal never really addresses the metaphysical properties of the crystals, I love to read about them online to find out for myself. I seemed to uncover a definite theme, whether or not it was intended. Even though I have to dig for a lot of the information myself, I end up learning a great deal from this subscription. Whether you're in it for the science or mystic reasons, this is one I always look forward to getting each month!
