Fortune Cookie Soap “Assemble” April 2018 Review

This box comes with a mini handbook detailing the products, how to use it, the unique scent, and ingredients. New to the handbook is pricing details for each item!

God Of Thunder Coffee Body Polish,

God Of Thunder Coffee Body Polish, 8 oz - Listed Retail Value $15.99

This is a drier body scrub than what I prefer, but ohmygoodness the scent. It is definitely coffee-forward, but you can also smell the toffee and vanilla for a really well-rounded scent. If my coffee tasted the way this smelled, I would drink coffee more often. This is a really fine scrub, so the exfoliation is gentle. Thank goodness this is a large bag because it is amazing!

Smash Bath Bomb Crumbles, 6.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $8.99

If you asked me, I wouldn't know that the delicious floral scent was lychee and water lily. I did recognize it was floral though, so I gave my nose props for that. These bath bomb crumbles are like smaller versions of a bath bomb (which means this bag will last for more baths!), and a medium-sized chunk turned my bath water an awesome shade of green (with no staining), and the fizziness lasted for a while. The scent, combined with sea salt and almond oil, made for a really relaxing bath (I mean it better be relaxing if it’s supposed to calm the Hulk down, right?).

I am Iron Man Veggie Protein Deodorant, 0.7 oz

I am Iron Man Veggie Protein Deodorant, 0.7 oz - Listed Retail Value $6.99

I am not really bothered by the aluminum that is in my good ol’ secret antiperspirant, however, I also have a fear of smelling/sweating a lot. I will use this deodorant when I will just be around the house for the day and don't expect to sweat, but still want to smell fresh. The basil is the predominant scent in this deodorant, and I am not mad about it.

Cap Aloe Me Whipped Cream, 1.8 oz

Cap Aloe Me Whipped Cream, 1.8 oz - Listed Retail Value $8.99

Whipped cream is a really luscious body cream that FCS makes, and this version is mixed with Aloe to really help dry skin. I have a small burn on my arm that has been hanging around for a few weeks. I put this lotion on my burn last night (it is scabbed over and not an open wound), and today my burn is noticeably smaller! I am going to be saving this for this summer when I inevitably get a sunburn and need some soothing. The strawberry lemonade scent will be perfect for summer, too (though to be honest strawberry lemonade is a welcome scent no matter what the time of year).

Suit Up! Body Wash, 4.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $7.99

Wakanda purple flowers, grapefruit, lemon zest, and olives make a really delectable body wash scent, and it didn't dry out my skin when using it (probably because this is made with aloe vera!).

Trickster Magic Solid Perfume, 0.5 oz

Trickster Magic Solid Perfume, 0.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $12.99

Rosewood and patchouli are the predominant scents in this solid perfume while lavender and vanilla provide some background depth. I think this is a great scent for day-to-day wear, and you get the bonus of added hydration wherever you apply it. When wearing it the scent is light, and it is one of those scents that just make you feel clean vs trying to mask a smell.

Agent of Shield Body Spray, 2.25 oz

Agent of Shield Body Spray, 2.25 oz - Listed Retail Value $10.99

While I wish there wasn't a perfume and body spray together in one box, the black cherry and sandalwood make up for the similar products. This smells sooo good. While the solid perfume is the scent I would wear during the day, this is what I would want when I was going out to dinner or the movies— whenever I want to smell just a touch fancier. The body spray is long-lasting, too!

The Verdict: I love the creativity you see in Fortune Cookie Soap products. From the packaging, the scent descriptions, and the products themselves, I feel like each month I am getting a box of really special products. A lot of the scents are unique compared to my usual perfume, and I appreciate the joy I get from smelling these products. Plus, these products are exclusive to the box until the extended collection is released at the end of each month. To me, it really adds to how special these products are!

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No. If you sign up today your first box will be the June box (which is 80s themed!)

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

My Subscription Addiction should update the main page (info/details) for this subscription since they no longer offer quarterly sub for $19.99 and only a monthly box subscription. Thank you for the review! Love Fortune Cookie Soap!!!

FYI – Keep the Aloe Me in the fridge if you’re thinking about using it for sunburns. My redheaded daughter would come home from her summer band camp and smear it on with a huge sigh, it was such instant relief.

FCS will be selling all of these products starting on April 27th, along with more, as they extend their monthly collection after the sub box goes out. There’s probably going to be some Black Panther stuff in the extended, which we’re excited for.

Wow that’s awesome!! I gotta put a reminder on my phone.

You can buy the collection, or individual products, on April 27th when this collection, plus additional (yet unknown) productions marketed as it’s “extended collection” will go on sale on fortunecookiesoap.com . I believe the collection usually launches (goes live) around 12n-1p CST.
There will also likely be a “launch party” video live on their main facebook page ( facebook.com/fortunecookiesoap/?fref=ts ) where they will first talk through all the products before their website goes live (I believe it starts 12n CST same day).

I’m eyeing this box (have been for a long time). Do they make any natural or free of harmful ingredients or such claims? Are the ingredients pretty gentle?

These products are handmade in Oklahoma. They are not tested on animals. They use a lot of natural ingredients, like a selection of butters (shea, coconut, cocoa). I believe they do have some vegan products.
The easiest way to see is to explore their website ( fortunecookiesoap.com ). Each product has an ingredient list or description listing if it has any specific qualities.

Most of their products are sensitive skin friendly, or even helpful for sensitive skin. Product reviews can help explore this. If you’re curious about a specific product you can also try asking on FCS’s fan page ( facebook.com/groups/440104956188448/ ), other’s in the group are usually very helpful & willing to share their experience.

Oooo, 80s theme?! I’m in! I’ve been watching this one for awhile, and that convinced me. I was a child in the 80s, and I miss the 80s.
