Fortune Cookie Soap “Assemble” April 2018 Review
This box comes with a mini handbook detailing the products, how to use it, the unique scent, and ingredients. New to the handbook is pricing details for each item!
God Of Thunder Coffee Body Polish, 8 oz - Listed Retail Value $15.99
This is a drier body scrub than what I prefer, but ohmygoodness the scent. It is definitely coffee-forward, but you can also smell the toffee and vanilla for a really well-rounded scent. If my coffee tasted the way this smelled, I would drink coffee more often. This is a really fine scrub, so the exfoliation is gentle. Thank goodness this is a large bag because it is amazing!
Smash Bath Bomb Crumbles, 6.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $8.99
If you asked me, I wouldn't know that the delicious floral scent was lychee and water lily. I did recognize it was floral though, so I gave my nose props for that. These bath bomb crumbles are like smaller versions of a bath bomb (which means this bag will last for more baths!), and a medium-sized chunk turned my bath water an awesome shade of green (with no staining), and the fizziness lasted for a while. The scent, combined with sea salt and almond oil, made for a really relaxing bath (I mean it better be relaxing if it’s supposed to calm the Hulk down, right?).
I am Iron Man Veggie Protein Deodorant, 0.7 oz - Listed Retail Value $6.99
I am not really bothered by the aluminum that is in my good ol’ secret antiperspirant, however, I also have a fear of smelling/sweating a lot. I will use this deodorant when I will just be around the house for the day and don't expect to sweat, but still want to smell fresh. The basil is the predominant scent in this deodorant, and I am not mad about it.
Cap Aloe Me Whipped Cream, 1.8 oz - Listed Retail Value $8.99
Whipped cream is a really luscious body cream that FCS makes, and this version is mixed with Aloe to really help dry skin. I have a small burn on my arm that has been hanging around for a few weeks. I put this lotion on my burn last night (it is scabbed over and not an open wound), and today my burn is noticeably smaller! I am going to be saving this for this summer when I inevitably get a sunburn and need some soothing. The strawberry lemonade scent will be perfect for summer, too (though to be honest strawberry lemonade is a welcome scent no matter what the time of year).
Suit Up! Body Wash, 4.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $7.99
Wakanda purple flowers, grapefruit, lemon zest, and olives make a really delectable body wash scent, and it didn't dry out my skin when using it (probably because this is made with aloe vera!).
Trickster Magic Solid Perfume, 0.5 oz - Listed Retail Value $12.99
Rosewood and patchouli are the predominant scents in this solid perfume while lavender and vanilla provide some background depth. I think this is a great scent for day-to-day wear, and you get the bonus of added hydration wherever you apply it. When wearing it the scent is light, and it is one of those scents that just make you feel clean vs trying to mask a smell.
Agent of Shield Body Spray, 2.25 oz - Listed Retail Value $10.99
While I wish there wasn't a perfume and body spray together in one box, the black cherry and sandalwood make up for the similar products. This smells sooo good. While the solid perfume is the scent I would wear during the day, this is what I would want when I was going out to dinner or the movies— whenever I want to smell just a touch fancier. The body spray is long-lasting, too!
The Verdict: I love the creativity you see in Fortune Cookie Soap products. From the packaging, the scent descriptions, and the products themselves, I feel like each month I am getting a box of really special products. A lot of the scents are unique compared to my usual perfume, and I appreciate the joy I get from smelling these products. Plus, these products are exclusive to the box until the extended collection is released at the end of each month. To me, it really adds to how special these products are!
