Brown Sugar March 2018 Review

Included in the box is a mini magazine with various articles for my reading enjoyment:

The “Inside Your March Box” has the 5-piece makeup brush set listed and this item was delayed and not delivered to Izzy and Liv in time to make the March box. So, they included two items to replace the brush set: the NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palette and the Seed Beaded Hoop Earrings.

This month’s theme is “Beauty Edition.”

Pretty Brown Eyes Gold Metallic Tee

Pretty Brown Eyes Gold Metallic Tee – Listed Value $30

This month’s shirt is a white, short sleeve, 100% ringspun cotton, and has “Pretty Brown Eyes” in gold metallic on the front of the tee. Izzy & Liv ’s graphic tees are popular, and they’re back with plus sizes, and more tees added weekly. They were transitioning to a new production model and weren’t selling tees in their shop the last few months. I know their client base must be happy that the graphic tees are back. I look forward to receiving their graphic tees each month and anxiously anticipate what fabulous design will be on the front of my tee.

“Brown Sugar” Suede Tassel Clutch

“Brown Sugar” Suede Tassel Clutch – Listed Value $34.00

This medium size suede clutch has “Brown Sugar” inscribed on the top front of the clutch and the tassel attached to the zipper pull is pom-poms and tassels. The clutch screams Fall. The rich orange and brown colors are gorgeous. By far, my favorite item from the box, and I can’t wait to find an outfit to pair with the clutch.

Ultra Matte Longlasting Lip Color by Izzy & Liv Beauty – Listed Value $25.00

This lip kit is an exclusive item from Izzy & Liv Beauty, and I couldn’t find any info on it, and there was no brand info on the product. I received three matte lipglosses: Burnt Amber, the most flattering of the three, Persian Plum, more of a pop of pink on me that wasn’t overwhelming or too bold in color, and Fliter, a gold color that was a bold shade for me. I’m wearing the burnt amber in the photo below with the hoop bead earrings.

The matte lip gloss lasted most of the day, I reapplied after brunch, and the color lasted the remainder of the day plus I tend to add a lip balm or gloss for moisture since the matte usually is too dry for me. This matte lipgloss is sticky, and when I applied the color Fliter and pressed my lips together the color came off, maybe I didn’t apply enough of the color, but I’m sure I did. I will attempt again and apply more of the product on my lips. Overall, I’m pleased with the color selection, and the shades were flattering, but the sticky sensation on my lips was a turn-off.

Here’s the lip gloss in Fliter.

Here’s the lip gloss in Burnt Umber.

Here’s the lip color in Persian Plum.

From top to bottom: Persian Plum, Burnt Umber, Fliter

NYX Love in Paris- Madeleines And Macaroons

NYX Love in Paris- Madeleines And Macaroons – Retail Value $10.00 (Found here for $5.00)

This nine-shadow palette is perfect for a smoky eye or a daytime look. I’m not a huge makeup wearer and don’t usually wear eyeshadows, but this palette is compact for any makeup junkie to throw in their makeup bag, and the color is wearable for anyone, the gold and bronze colors has a little shimmer to them. The colors are more vibrant and rich in person. For the makeup lover, this is perfect.

“Don’t Let The Cute Face Fool You” Compact Mirror – Listed Value $12.00

This small compact mirror has “Don’t Let The Cute Face Fool You” on the front and back. The compact is a nice size and perfect for when I need to touch up my lipstick.

Seed Beaded Hoop Earrings

Seed Beaded Hoop Earrings – Listed Value $9.00

It’s a pleasant change when subs send jewelry, and I appreciate the variety of styles that this sub has sent. The beaded hoop earrings in colors red, black, white and yellow will complement any outfit I own. I tend to wear dark colors plus I have to wear all black to work so this will pair well.

Here I am wearing the beaded hoop earrings and the matte lip in color burnt umber.

Tassel Dangle Drop Earrings – Listed Value $12.00

Tassel earrings are in right now, and I received a pair of black tassel earrings in my FabFitFun Spring Box. I feel hip now, knowing I own a popular fashion trend, thanks to my subscription boxes. That’s one thing I love about subscription boxes they send items I would not have thought to try and send products that are up and coming and are in fashion. When I first saw the item in the box, it reminded me of a mop and this color is something I wouldn’t wear but I will attempt to find an outfit for the earrings. The one earring has tassels that are longer than others, and some of the thread from the tassel wasn’t laying flat together, I think the more I tried to fix it, it made it worse. I think once on my earlobe it won’t matter.

Verdict: The Brown Sugar Box has a boxed value of $132.00 which is a good deal for a $44.90 box ($39.95 a month + $4.95 shipping). The products are usable, except the eyeshadow palette and this month was heavy on accessories which I like. I appreciate them including an insert detailing the replacement items and an explanation of the makeup brush set not being in this month’s box. The items in this box scream Fall to me, I think the clutch and the lip kit give me that impression. This month gives me something to wear, as always, items to accessorize my outfits, a variety of lip colors to elevate my look, and a mirror to throw in my makeup or overnight bag.The subscription price is on par with other lifestyle boxes, and you receive at least 6-7 items monthly. Brown Sugar Box by Izzie & Liv is one of my favorite WOC beauty/lifestyle boxes!

Those earrings really pop on you! So pretty and that lip color looks fab as well!

I wasn’t a fan of this box. I liked the lipgloss colors (and then one you have on looked great), and I liked the t-shirt. However, I really didn’t like the other items. I am hoping next month is better.

StaceStace

Great review. I think this is the next box I’ll try out just for those graphic tees!

Marion

The burnt umber lip shade looks perfect on you!

Those seed bead hoops are very cool. I love the color pattern.

I’ve been a subscriber since September I do believe…This box can do no wrong in my eyes. I’ve put to use just about everything in them and what I couldn’t use, I was able to regift to my mom and daughter. Every month they’ve exceeded my expectations
