New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Review – January 2018
New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: New Beauty Test Tube
The Cost: $29.95 a box plus $8.95 shipping (ships every other month)
The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products. (This subscription also includes a subscription to New Beauty Magazine).
Ships to: US only
Each box comes with a booklet that details every item included.
Now, on to the items!
It’s a 10 Silk Express Miracle Silk Leave-In – 2 oz (Travel Size) Value $15.42
I’ve sampled It’s A 10 before thanks to New Beauty Test Tube, and it’s one of those hair products that gave me an immediate difference in my hair after using it. You just spritz it on to damp hair, and let dry. It makes hair SO soft! (And it has a nice light floral scent, too.)
Starlooks Ultra Longwear Matte Lip Paint in MLP4 – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $15
(Subscribers will either receive this lip paint, a lip crayon, or an eyeliner pen. All from Starlooks.)
The formula has a matte finish, and decent staying power. I like the color, too. It’s just a bit darker than my regular Stila lipstick in Patina.
(Swatched in lower photo.)
My Looking Glass Studio Lights Liquid Shadow in Light Bronze – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $17
(Subscribers will either receive this liquid shadow or the My Looking Glass Lightweight Mascara.)
This is a click-up liquid eyeshadow has a brush applicator and I am digging the matte black metal finish, too. The formula is great. It’s a SUPER shimmery bronze that doesn’t budge once it dries.
Here it is swatched above the lip paint:
Hourglass Primer in Mood Light – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $44
Full-size Hourglass?! I like this, New Beauty! Keep it up!
I’ve sampled this primer before and it is great. It gives you a perfectly smooth finish for a foundation, and it’s also great to give you a little glow even if you don’t put makeup on it!
Linhart Fluoride Toothpaste – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $10
I had just run out of my subscription box toothpaste stash, so this item’s arrival was perfect timing! And it is so fancy!
It’s your standard minty flavor, and the formula is designed to help strengthen enamel and prevent decay.
These moisturizing gloves are lined with lotion to hydrate your hands in 15 minutes.
What I didn’t like: the fragrance. I really would have preferred these gloves to be unscented, as the fragrance was a little too strong for my liking. The good news is that the fragrance faded quickly when I took them off.
What I liked/LOVED: the hydration! I was expecting my hands to be greasy when removing these and that I’d need a while for all the lotion to absorb, but my hands were dry almost instantly, but so much more hydrated. (The difference in my cuticles was night and day!)
Biosilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder – 15 g (Travel Size) Retail Value $8.99
This is a pretty small container, but a little power goes a long way! It works by adding texture to your roots – which can result in mega volume! But that also can make your hair a little sticky to the touch if you use too much. Just a heads up!
Z Skin Neck Firming Cream – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $19
This neck cream is made with simple, natural ingredients, and designed to help firm neck skin and dimish the appearance of dark spots. I recommend shaking the tube before using – the consistency was a little weird when I first used it (like a mix of a gel and a cream).
Consistency issues aside, I love ingredient-conscious skincare that doesn’t have any artificial scents, so I’ll be applying this to my neck morning and night!
Neocell Glowgetter Set – Estimated Value $3
This set includes a bag and 5 packets of 2 capsules each – 10 total.
It’s kind of a bummer that they didn’t include 15 of these packets since the packaging promises to reduce signs of aging in “just 15 days!” Also, this is both gluten-free and contains wheat, so I’m not going to try it, but if you recommend ceramides supplements, please let us know!
Absolutely Natural Purifying Mud Mask – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $18
This is another product that I recommend you shake well before opening! Fortunately, once I shook it a few times, it went from being a messy liquid to your standard clay mask formula. This one is all natural, and designed to help remove toxins and impurities from your skin without drying out your skin. It delivered on deep-cleaning my skin and not drying it out too much, so I’m happy. Plus it has a fab natural floral scent.
Verdict: New Beauty Test Tube, you had me at full-size Hourglass Primer! (That alone is worth more than the cost of the box!) This box has a value of about $154.41. I think the value is great, and I LOVE that they are including lots of new brands in this new version of New Beauty Test Tube. Great sizes, too. The only sized item I was disappointed in was the supplement, but that feels more like a box extra/bonus anyway.
