Driftaway Coffee is a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly coffee subscription that delivers new and different coffees based on your tasting feedback.

DriftAway Coffee December 2017

Every subscription begins with a “tasting kit,” which is what we’ll be reviewing today ($16.00). Unlike the standard subscription boxes, which contain just one type of coffee, this box contains four bags of delicious coffee, at two ounces each. After you receive this kit (which counts as your first month of the service), you'll start receiving just one coffee per box and be charged the full subscription cost.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Driftaway Coffee includes a few note cards in your first shipment. The cards noted above describe how to rate the coffees in your sampler kit after you’ve tried them all.

These cards note how to brew “the perfect cup” along with some information on the type of blends they offer.

Let’s take a look at what I received in my tasting kit!

DriftAway Coffee December 2017

Kenya Gondo AB

This coffee is noted as “Fruity” with flavor notes of red currant, green grape, and nectarine - I've never had these flavors in a cup of coffee before, but o boy! it smells delicious. The bean is a very light brown and once brewed, the coffee itself is, too, which is something I look for in my perfect cup.

The flavor is a bit more tart compared to other fruit blends I've tried in the past, but I can see myself drinking more of this in the future.

Guatemala Los Gigantes

This coffee’s flavor notes are milk chocolate, lime, and cherry and is under the "Balanced" profile. I've never had milk chocolate flavor in a coffee before, so I was very intrigued and ready to try! Once brewed, the lime and cherry really came through, with little notes of chocolate.

Overall, I really like this one! I would be hesitant to buy something with these flavor notes regularly at a store, so I appreciate these tasting kits because they give me the chance to try different types of blends that I wouldn't normally buy.

Mexico Organic HG EP

This coffee flavor profile is under "Bold" and has notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and peanuts.  These flavors are most similar to what I'd normally buy in the store, so I was excited to taste something I know I'd love. Once brewed, the cocoa really came through, making for a nice fragrant smell and an even better taste!

Brazil Farzenda Recreio

This blend’s profile is under "Classic" and has flavor notes of Cocoa, Lemongrass, and Peanut. The flavors really came through once brewed in this blend, especially the peanut and cocoa notes. I think out of all blends in this month's shipment, this one is my favorite!

Verdict: I continue to be impressed with every shipment from Driftaway CoffeeAll blends were very fresh and each tastier than the next! I appreciate that they send so many different blends, letting you experience different kinds of coffee's than you'd normally buy. I keep finding a new favorite in every shipment!

The price of the sampler kit ($8 + free shipping) is a great way to test out and see what kind of blends you enjoy and is a very fair price. The full priced shipments can get a little on the pricier side, but if you ration them out to the bi-weekly or monthly shipments; this would be a great “treat yourself” cup!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Your coffee should ship a few days after you place your order to receive the starter kit!
