Bolgheri Necklace — Value $39.95

The first item I pulled out of the box was this beautiful statement necklace. It was loose among the sizzle that filled the box, but it was nestled in well and didn't seem like it could've gotten damaged. This necklace features mixed media beading made up of howlite (the big, white, streaky stones), brass, and other small plastic beads in neutral grey, silver, and black tones. I absolutely love that the 'feature presentation' of this piece is supported by striped cord, for multiple reasons: first, it alleviates silver-lovers from being disappointed by a largely golden piece and vice versa. I also believe it's a little more versatile this way...since the necklace is so long (26 inches with a 2-inch extender), a chain link would end up looking like a lot of chain. The cord is a nice casual contrast to the somewhat fancy layers of beading.

This is a really pretty and high-quality piece, so I was surprised to see it listed as only about $40 on Joya's site. This feels like a steal to me! I can't wait to wear it to work, where the dress is casual, but I like to look pulled-together.

Onyx Power Bracelet — Value $38.95 (marked down from $49.95)

Folegandros Earrings - Value $68.95

Next, I pulled out this nice little canvas bag. Seems silly to say, but it's a particularly nice li'l canvas bag! Inside were both this bracelet and these earrings. The bracelet is made up of matte onyx beads strung along an elastic band and features a hammered brass bar that's slightly curved. It's a little loose on my wrist, but I think I'll wear it anyway; it'll make a good layering piece with other bracelets. The earrings are almond-shaped danglies with pretty bars hanging down and are made of hammered 18K gold vermeil. I'm a gold jewelry wearer, so I'm really happy with these, but Joya does sell a silver pair on their site for those interested. My first assessment of the earrings was that they seemed a little too mature for my tastes, but once I tried them on, I really liked the way they glimmered through my hair, so I think I'll keep them instead of giving them away.

If I were to pass any of these accessories along, however, Joya makes it easy by including lovely gift wrap items in the box. I sprinkled a few pieces of sizzle in the photo above because it dawned on me that though used for padding in the shipping box, they could double as great gift box stuffing, too. What a thoughtful touch!

Here I am wearing all three pieces together. I found that they complement each other really nicely and effortlessly snazzed up the casual outfit I was wearing. Once I had them all on, it became official: I'm in love with this month's Collections by Joya jewelry!

Verdict: Nicely done, Collections by Joya! What an extremely well-curated and enjoyable experience this subscription box offers. Each piece was of great quality and struck me as being on the high end of fairly priced, but fairly priced nonetheless. The contents of this box add up to about $148, which absolutely incredible for a $39.95 box. I plan to keep them all for myself, but if I were to gift them, I would feel really confident and comfortable knowing that I was giving my loved ones something truly beautiful, and from a company with a good cause behind it. I will definitely be recommending this box to my friends and excitedly looking forward to next month's surprises!

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
