This review is of the Wantable Style Edit, $20 a month, box.
When I signed up for Style Edit, I took a very extensive profile quiz. It was exciting to see the various questions and visual outfits I could like, love, or dislike. They asked what categories I wanted to receive (or not receive), along with the occasions I typically dress for (ie work, night out, etc). I chose color and price preferences as well. I completed my profile with high hopes that my stylist would be able to understand my sense of style.

My stylist Emma welcomed me to Wantable Style Edit and noted that she selected pieces to help her get a feel for my style. Wow, seven pieces of clothing were sent this month! Each item is detailed and the price to keep is noted. If I were to keep the entire box, the $398 total would be discounted 99.60 (20% off + $20 styling fee deducted). With this discount, each item would cost an average of $42.63.
Wantable also included a USPS return bag for anything I decide to return.
Let's take a look at what I got!
American Dream Striped Short Sleeve Scoop Neck T-Shirt - Cost to keep: $22
With Wantable Style Edit, you are able to choose which price ranges you prefer ($50-100, $100-150, $150+), so I am delighted to see the first item I tried on is priced well below $50. The t-shirt is a lightweight knit comprised of 95% rayon and 5% spandex. It's a soft and comfortable tee, with some stretch. Totally worth the price!
I am a fan of neutral colors, so the black and white stripes were a good choice to send. The scoop neck in the front is identical in the back, which I also really like!
DEX Madison Crop Rose Pink Denim - Cost to keep: $69
I've seen a lot of colored denim in my Trunk Club and Stitch Fix boxes, so I'm not totally surprised Wantable also sent this rose colored pair. The shade of pink is beautiful and one of my favorite pairs sent my way so far! The label notes these are a super skinny crop and although they are definitely cropped, they fit me like a traditional skinny jean. There's only 2% spandex so they're not clingy like some super skinny denim can be.
Jeans are probably my favorite piece of clothing, so I'm super particular when making purchasing decisions. And I have one rule: no low rise allowed! Low-rise is noted as a "dislike" in my style profile, so I was super surprised I received this particular pair. In Wantable's defense, this pair is marketed as mid-rise, but they sit on my waist and hips a lot lower than a typical mid-rise.
There's a worn-in look to the color and distressing that I really like. And my favorite part of this pair is the hem. Unstitching jean hems was my jam in the 90's so I'm happy to see it's reemergence recently!
LA Made Lizbeth Drape Top in Black - Cost to keep: $62
I love that Wantable Style Edit sent a lot of separates - they already know me so well! This black top is made of 100% micro modal, and a soft stretchy knit. There's draping in the front stitched into the hem, which gives this top a blouson look. I appreciate the unique detail but feel it makes this top less flattering at my hips.
The neckline can be worn various ways, but I really like the off-the-shoulder look here. There's a lot of gathering which creates a nice flutter on the sleeve too!
There's an asymmetrical hem, so the back hangs a bit longer than the front. The gathering at the neck creates a lot of extra fabric, so it's super roomy and relaxed. For me, however, it feels a bit messy and not quite worth the $62 price tag.
Native Outsiders Olivie Button Up in Ivory - Cost to keep: $28 on sale! (original price $48)
I will happily accept marked down clothing, as long as it fits my style and is of good quality. And this top is just that. It is made of 100% rayon, so it feels like a silky crepe fabric. Despite having long sleeves, it's lightweight and comfortable on and I could wear this with denim shorts until it gets super hot where I live.
The front and back yolks are a delicate ivory lace and there are two front pockets. I also really like the slight blouson sleeve. The sleeves and overall length of this top are a bit long on me, but I can see this style working for various body types.
Just Black High Rise Fitted Boyfriend Jean - Cost to keep: $84
I typically wear skinny denim but on the search for a perfect boyfriend jean. Sadly, I continue to strike out, including this time. This pair is a medium blue wash with minimal whiskering. Before I tried them on, the waist looked way larger than what I'm used to, but they fit well in the waist and hips. They're almost too fitted at the thigh, but become more of a straight leg starting at the knee.
The front knees have nearly symmetrical distressing, along with a couple extra tears on the left leg.
They hit at the ankles, so I'm hesitant to cuff the hem since they will look too cropped and capri-like. The overall quality of this pair is good, and on the right person, they are worth $84. But sadly, they are just not for me. I will continue my search, though!
Jack by BB Dakota Otisa Off the Shoulder Crinkle Jumpsuit - Cost to keep: $78
I'm happy Wantable sent a jumpsuit. It's the type of clothing I have a hard time finding styles I like, so if a clothing service sends it, I will try it! This particular style is made by Jack by BB Dakota, a brand I am familiar with. It is comprised of 100% rayon and has a similar crepe feel as the button down top. It's black (yay!) and there's a lot of versatility here. I've styled this casually, but it could easily be dressed up by changing to a heeled shoe and adding bold accessories.
The top has a blouson and elastic waist met with a drawstring tie. It's super comfortable on and what I like best is the interior lining. The pants are lined as shorts, so I feel super secure without the lining weighing me down.
The neckline is shirred and meant to be worn off the shoulder. Again, it's super comfortable and I don't feel as if the sleeves are going to fall or become awkward.
What is awkward, however, is the leg hem. The pant itself is a nice wide leg and hits at a slightly longer culotte length. I can't tell if this is on purpose or faulty sewing on BB Dakota's part, but the inside length is longer than the outside. There's also excess fabric on the inside, so even if the asymmetrical hem is on purpose, it looks sloppy.
BB Dakota Edell Shoulderless Long Sleeve Tee - Cost to keep: $55
I love the color of this top! It's a soft peach that I am drawn to. The top is super stretchy, made of 95% rayon and 5% spandex. I don't typically wear anything this clingy, but do have to say the quality of this top is really nice. The mock neck is cool and despite the long sleeve, the cold shoulder detail would make this bearable to wear during the summer.
In fairness, I noted "edgy" clothing as a "like" in my profile, so Wantable is totally justified in sending this top. However, between the tight fit and cold shoulder, I'm unlikely to add it to my closet.
Verdict: I enjoyed my first experience with Wantable Style Edit! Between the extensive profiling to unboxing and providing them feedback during checkout, I feel confident Wantable will continue to understand my style and what I'm looking to add to my wardrobe. I feel their price points are fair and comparable to Stitch Fix, but the quality of the clothing and brands are better. For $20 a month (which also includes free shipping and returns), Wantable Style Edit is a low-risk way of shopping for clothes in the comfort of your home. I'm excited to see what's in store next month!
