Sour Cream ‘N Bacon Ruffles, 40g - Value $0.53 (buy a 245g/8.6oz bag for $3.27)

This box really delivers in the chips department! With four 40g packages to choose from, I began my Canadian snack journey by sampling a Sour Cream ‘N Bacon variety of Ruffles. I actually don’t eat bacon, so checked the label on this one and got the vegetarian green light. Thanks, artificial flavoring! No, but really. I’m glad I got to try a bacon-flavored snack -- I don’t know that I ever have! These are subtly smoky and pack that bacon-y punch.

All Dressed Ruffles, 40g - Value $0.91 (buy a 220g/7.8oz bag for $4.99)

Also from Ruffles are an All Dressed flavor. These are apparently a Canadian cult favorite, and I can see why. It’s tough to adequately express exactly what these taste like, but I’d say that their flavoring is classified somewhere between BBQ, paprika, sour cream and cheddar, and salt and vinegar.

Dill Pickle Lays, 40g - Value $0.45 (buy a 219g/7.75oz bag for $2.48)

I’m a huge fan of pickles. Always have been. However, now that I’m pregnant and the pickle stereotype has become very real (who knew?), I find myself reaching for a jar daily. These just might replace my craving. I love their airy crunch and delightful dill flavor.

Old Dutch Ketchup Chips, 40g - Value $3.24? (buy a 220g/7.8oz box for $17.85)

I love ketchup as a condiment, but I can’t say that it’s my favorite as a chip flavor. But considering the steep cost of these in the US, I savored every crumb.

Tim Hortons Mocha Iced Capp, 300ml - Value $6.65 (buy a variety pack of 6 for $39.99)

I’m getting a creamy iced coffee vibe from this drink. Very tasty, though I am someone that takes their coffee black, so I don’t normally opt for these types of sweet, prepackaged coffee drinks. Feels like I’m drinking dessert (in a good way)! A nice treat that I wouldn’t have thought I’d enjoy.

Christie Collection Fudgee O Cookies, 303g - Value $2.95 (buy a 400g package for $3.89)

These are a tasty little chocolate cookie, and you get a pretty huge package in this month’s Get Canucked box. My first reaction upon sampling was to grab a glass of milk, but, come to think of it, these would pair perfectly with the Tim Hortons Mocha Iced Capp.

Nestle Carnation Hot Chocolate Variety Pack - Value $5.00

I’ll definitely be hanging on to a few of these hot chocolate packs for when winter rolls around! It’s 87 degrees today, so not exactly ideal sipping-on-a-hot-beverage weather. However, you know that didn’t stop me from channeling my inner Canadian and enjoying a cup of Rolo hot chocolate over some terrible TV. Just the right amount of sweet!

Dare Original Wagon Wheels, 2- 35g cookies - Total Value $2.05 (buy a pack of 6 for $6.14)

These totally reminded me of my childhood! I’ve always loved marshmallow candy (would glaaaadly trade you a Snickers for a Mallo Cup post trick-or-treating). These are sort of sandwich-style snack cakes with a gooey, dense marshmallow center and chocolate coating. Now that I know how much I enjoyed the first one, I’ll be dreaming about the perfect moment to indulge in the second.

Maynards Swedish Berries, 64g - Value $0.61 (buy a 355g package for $3.36)

Okay, I’m admittedly not big on Swedish Fish, and I figured these would be similar based on their name alone. I was not wrong. If you love Swedish Fish, these have a nearly identical flavor profile and texture.

Mackintosh’s Creamy Toffee, 45g - Value $1.91 (buy a 12 pack of 45g bars for $23.00)

If you love caramel, you’ll love this toffee. It comes as a pretty big bar of hard candy. You can break it apart on your kitchen counter or attempt to bite it apart in the package once it softens a bit. The candy becomes very chewy in your mouth, so I wouldn't suggest this for someone that’s concerned about messing up some dental work!

Verdict: This box is absolutely packed with goodies. Receiving it felt really special since many of these items are not easily found in the US. I estimate the value of this box to be around $24.30 if you really break it down. Factor in the fact that you’d have to buy large quantities to receive many of these items + the cost of international shipping, and you’re way over the $35 cost of this box. Perfect for a Canadian transplant to the US or just an avid snacker that wants to explore their options, I’d recommend this box wholeheartedly.

Mmm, whenever we go to Canada we get All Dressed chips. They’re so delicious! The tanginess of salt and vinegar plus BBQ plus all of everything else…

Amy

They all remind me of my childhood. Wagonwheels were big time lunch snacks when I was a kid. For the toffee though there was a process. You put it in the freezer until it got rock hard and then hit it with whatever hammer or rolling pin you would find. If you did it on the kitchen counter you may get yelled at. The you nibble on the manageable pieces.

I always chuckle at this box. Every single item they send is found at the local Dollarama in Canada, most for $1, some for $1 a box but you actually only get two or three pieces from the box, so those items cost less than .50 cents to include and the most expensive item in there is the hot chocolate box, which is either $2.5 or $3 Canadian. I estimate this month’s box cost about $7 Canadian/$5 US. I know the Priority shipping must add about $8-$10 but $35 USD for this seems a bit much. They should at least include a few more items.

I think this is mostly for homesick Canadians who miss particular brands. It’s a good deal for that. I grew up across the border and really like these. I’m jealous of that cocoa set–I love all the flavors.

Hmm…I’ll be honest…I don’t really get the appeal. Most of these snacks (or at least some close variation) can be found pretty easily in the U.S. I subbed to Snakku for a few months because they send snacks and flavors I truly would never be able to find where I live. That really doesn’t seem to be the case with this box. I could get most of this stuff at my corner 7-Eleven. Jmho.
