Nestify boxes always center around a theme. This month's theme is "Jardin au Printemps," which is French for "Garden in Spring." I'm really excited that the note in this box includes details on the small crafters who created the items inside. I like supporting smaller artisans, so knowing these products don't just come from a big box store adds a lot of value for me.
Serving Set - Value $10.00?
These serving utensils didn't come with a tag, so I couldn't find the exact products online. I linked to something similar above to give an idea of value.
According to the info card, this set was created by "the wood carvers of the Kamba tribe in Kenya." It also says the set is made from mango wood with bone inlays. I love the rich, natural color palette of these serving tools. They feel really sturdy, too, despite how lightweight they are.
I will say these servers are about the same length as a typical fork or knife. Because the ends (the prongs and spatula-like end) are a bit big to be comfortable as an eating utensil, I'm calling this a serving set. But in a pinch, they could work as a fork and spoon!
Baba Souk Doorknob Pom Pom - Value $5.88 USD
This tassel is from Quebec-based company Baba Souk. The Baba Souk site says that it's a decoration for the nursery, but you could pop this on any doorknob to add some extra color.
I will say that this accessory doesn't totally match the vibe of my decor style, but I do like that it's handmade and fairly traded. It's also not a type of item I'd ever have thought to exist. Would I have gone out of my way to get one if I'd seen it in a store? Eh, probably not. But now that I have one, I'm eager to see where it might fit into my decor. If it doesn't, maybe I can gift it to a friend or at least use it to decorate the package.
Mushroom Wine Bottle Stopper - Value $8.50?
The note that came with the box says this stopper was created by Minneapolis designer Carolyn Kopecky. I couldn't find the exact item online, though, so I linked to something similar to demonstrate value.
I have one or two wine stoppers, that always seem to be in use. So I will always welcome new ones into my collection! This stopper has a ceramic top and a cork bottom. I've never really understood what people love so much about mushrooms, but again, I'll totally keep and use this stopper!
Mini Vase with Flower Detail - Value $16.46?
I couldn't find this exact item online, so I linked to something similar! There wasn't any information on this vase on the note in the box, either. This little vase is super cute, but it came broken. Looks like the flower embellishment popped off during shipping. Luckily, it's not super difficult to glue back on. It's a bit of a bummer though that I have to take that extra step before enjoying this vase.
The vase itself is only about 5 or 6 inches tall. It's great for perching on a small table, or even in the corner of a desk. The neck is pretty small, so this vase will only work with a few flowers, rather than a big bouquet. But the colors are really pretty, so I'm happy to welcome this into my home!
DW Home White Rose Candle, 4 oz. - Value $11.66
The last item in the box is this candle. It has a lovely, powdery scent to it, almost like a rose soap or lotion.
I've seen this brand of candles at discount home stores before for a bit less than the value I found online. Still, for a 4 oz. candle, it's probably a fair retail value. I would've wished that it was made from natural materials (the package doesn't mention anything about that, so I assume it's got at least a few artificial chemicals in there). I try to use soy wax candles, or even better, candles that use natural materials for their wick and scents. But I could see giving this candle as a hostess gift.
If you loved this box, you can use this last card to get in touch or spread the word.
Verdict: This Nestify box was pretty fun. The best part, in my opinion, was the fact that there were so many artisan-made items in the box. I would've loved to get a little more information about the crafters themselves, but just knowing some names and sources made each item feel more valuable to me. The box itself is $45.00 after shipping (which was $4.95 to me in Pennsylvania), and there's just about $53.00 of value inside. The only real bummer of the box was the broken vase, but it was an easy enough fix that I didn't mind too much. If you're thinking about subscribing, be sure the aesthetic matches your style. But if it does, it could be a fun way to introduce some unconventional items into your decor.
