The Cost: $29.99/month for a single upcoming month of your choice (when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am) or $29.49 for a random box from a past month; save with longer subscriptions. You can also add a bar of soap or candle to your box for $6.49, or a piece of jewelry for $8.

Tillandsias and Things Air Plant Magnet – Listed Value $5
I can’t find this exact item in the Tillandsias and Things Etsy shop (linked in the item title), but the listed value is in line with other items they sell (keeping in mind you get both the holder and the plant here). I am currently maintaining a small collection of air plants (some are getting old), and this has gone in the room with them (and my plant lights and humidifier). As you can see, you also get care directions.
Here is a shot of the back of the plant. There’s a magnet, although it also stands up pretty well on its own.
Cupcake Soap Shop Handcrafted Bar Soap – Value $8
It didn’t say, but I am guessing this is the lavender vanilla scent based on appearances. This does have a light floral (and to me, very clean) scent. This is a pretty small seller at this point, and I honestly never would’ve heard of them if not for this box.

This is a jewelry-heavy subscription. Pieces are usually fairly delicate and casual, like these. You will get a variety of metal finishes, and they won’t always match the way these do. I am not sure what the earring hooks are made of (you’ll always get pierced-ear earrings if you get earrings), so I have coated them with clear nail polish (I am very sensitive to all metals but titanium and niobium in earrings).
I like these. The quality is good for this price point (the metal plating does not look at all cheap). And I have (or think I have) neutral undertones to my skin, so I wear pretty much any type of metal. If something in this box is not to your taste, though, everything is usually packaged nicely for gifting.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $38.00 for the May 2017 Box of Happies. Although I had to take a lot of values from the information card, that is a great value for this box, and even if you round it down a little bit, you are getting a good deal. The air plant, in particular, is right up my alley (and it arrived in great shape), but I’ll use everything.
