Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder – Value $65


YES! One of my favorite brands and products ever!


If you aren’t familiar with this skin cleanser, here is how to use it:

Begin with wet hands and a wet face. Pour about half a teaspoon into hands, add water and rub hands together to create a creamy foam. Massage gently onto a wet face in circular motions for 10-20 seconds, avoiding eyes. Rinse and revel in your soft, smooth skin.


This is one of my favorite cleansers because it is gentle, but it still exfoliates and makes your skin super clean. (And it doesn’t dry your skin out either.)


BKR Glass & Silicone Water Bottle – Value $35


I have a few of these BKR bottles, and I love them! They are dishwasher safe, and the silicone is BPA and phthalate free, too.

Verdict: I previously said the Winter 2016 box was my favorite Box of Style of all time, but now I’m thinking the Spring box has taken that title. This is one of those boxes that I feel was made for me. I love the pale pink bottle and nail polish, the Tatcha powder is one of my favorite beauty products of all time, and jewelry is delicate and gold (just how I like it), and the bag and scarf are fab accessory upgrades, too!

And this box has a retail value of $468! (That’s not counting the value of the sponsored Stella Artois Chalice.) Amazing!!

  1. Hmmm, with such radically opposing opinions on the bag, I’m wondering now if RZ oversold the Spring box, so had to scramble to fill remaining orders and used a cheaper knock-off bag? I mean, it’s puzzling that people either state it’s a really nice, luxe looking bag or it’s a falling-apart POS that smells awful. It would also explain the big gap in shipping dates.

    • I think ppl are being mellow dramatic honestly because the bag is made in India and is hand made so it obviously will not look like a factory sewing machine all tribe alive products are hand made I have several items from them and the craftsmanship is great and the material is nice and thick yes the bag has a natural smell that’s it no gasoline that’s just nonsense also it’s raw leather and painted thin and double layered to make up a nice roll to make the handles the bag is not a knockoff by no means. You just can’t please everybody.

      • I think it may be because it is handmade and so your bag came out depending on who made your bag. Some were likely put together by better artisans than others.

        For instance, the leather on two of the four handle ends arrived separated to varying degrees in different parts and I may need to super glue it so it doesn’t progressively get worse. One of the four handles was put together perfectly. But then one of the four handles was put together so that one part of the leather is higher than the other where it joins and juts out. I don’t think quality control was the best and they were rushed or inexperienced. I think I read or saw this in the video, but I think the Tribe Alive bag was put together by female artisans and this gave them income for many months and they were trained and this give them the much needed income and job experience so they could do more projects like this and compete with male artisans. This is actually why I am not too upset with the bag (or the scarf).

        The smell I think is coming from the painted leather. There was a strong burning/paint smell. I literally had to spray both sides of the bag and scarf with this strong bed and body mist I have just so I could tolerate airing the bag out. I likely will never use this bag in an indoor setting lest the smell also offends others around me. I will use as an outing bag for park or outdoor days.

      • Kimberly first of all the spelling is NOT mellow dramatic. It is melodramatic! Secondly the bag I got is horrible. Why would I make up a story about this bag? I wish I could attach photos here. Do not assume what you do not know! How dare you tell me I am being overly dramatic over a bag that is falling apart.

        • You’re lucky. My response for my defective candle was that I had to wait several weeks until they figured out their inventory. Only then would they determine if I get a refund or a replacement. WTF?

          With my luck, they’ll expect me to send it back as well. Sure, I’ll just keep a wickless candle around for a few weeks while you get your sh*t together.

          • Great news if you haven’t thought of it my be helpful if it doesn’t get replaced place it on a warmer. That’s stupid they don’t know if they can replace it. They want you to just shut up like they did me about the chalice. Sometimes they take use for granted and get caught up in their own world. To forget that if it’s not for customers they have nothing.

  2. I finally got my box of style today!! It shipped about 1.5 weeks after ordering and it took about 1 week to reach me via Fedex Post thereafter.

    Each item is wrapped in tissue with such care with a sticker on top and placed inside the box with such thought that you really get the feeling you are opening a gift. The box felt really lux and my favorite items are the Tatcha, the nude BKR water bottle, the pink nail polish, the Stella chalice and the earrings in that order.

    The bag itself is okay, but the leather does smell and it did end up permeating the entire box to some extent. I am airing it out now after having sprayed it with a body and bed mist. It is adjustable and looks good from afar, especially with the red scarf tied to it, but on close inspection, the stitching on the handles isn’t the best or even consistent. The design of the bag also doesn’t line up on the sides. My first thought upon inspecting it was actually to donate it to Goodwill, but if the smell dissipates I may try to use during the spring/summer as an outing bag. The scarf feels a bit cheap to the touch and smells like the bag. It *looks* very “Rachel Zoe” or “bohemian chic” with the red scarf with gold pattern tied around the bag, but like the cheap mass consumer version. The best way I would describe it is it looks good from 20 feet away, but not so good up close or when you touch it.

    • That bag is awful. I sent them photos of how the handle of my bag arrived at their request and never heard another word! That bag smelled like gasoline and the leather was ultra cheap.

      Nobody will believe how bad that bag is — until they see it for themselves. I am sure Rachel Zoe carries this bag every day! Not! She is cashing in on people like me who are suckers!

      • Oh my gosh I must be the only one here that got a good bag with the most perfect handles and stitching especially since their products are hand made. The leather is thin double layered which makes it nice in the hand it is also painted raw leather which is completely different than Italian leather. My bag had no smell at all and piped up like it should have I put my 100% leather bag up till I’m done with this one and that means after I have washed it several times lol. If somebody doesn’t want theirs let me know I’m all about having another!

        • My bag is also perfect!! It is beautifully made. There is no smell other than the smell of leather and that’s certainly not a bad smell. The stitching is amazing. This bag looks high end. I get so many complements on this bag.

        • I don’t get it. Mine doesn’t have an odd smell at all. No problems at all with my purse.

      • My box came today and the stitching on one of the bag handles is coming apart – I am going to email them and a send them a picture and see what happens. It needs to be replaced!

        • I sent them a photo and have not heard back. Anyway, people accusing other people of trolling do not know what they are talking about! My bag is horrible too. But no. People think some of us are trolling. I have better thing to do with my time but gripe about a bag. In theory the bag is beautiful. In reality it is horrible.

          • GIve them time. I finally got a response from an Email I sent on March 22nd. I had just responded they did not respond. I got an answer and a replacement bag!

  3. I finally got a reply to my email about not receiving the Stella Artois glass and the response was pretty much “Too bad, so sad. No glass for you.” Such a bummer because I like BOS a lot or I should say, I liked it a lot.

  4. This is my second box…the winter box sold me! I really like everything, but the surprise favorite is the water bottle! I had been using a pale pink metal bottle, about 16 oz, but taller and skinnier. Switching to this, same ounces, but it seems to go down much faster. Maybe because of the shape of the bottle? And I love how cold the silicone holder feels. The only sort-of dud for me is the scarf. It doesn’t seem long enough to wear as a scarf. I tied it on the bag instead.

  5. I received my box today. I loved everything in it except the bag. Mine arrived broken with the handle coming off. I’m really kind of shocked at the awful quality of the bag. The straps do not have a good feel – like plastic more than leather and it’s just an awkward size and shape. This is not a bag that I will ever carry. My favorite piece of the entire bag is the scarf. I think it’s gorgeous and it looks great on my purse or tied around my neck. Minus the purse, I think the other pieces are quite fun.

    • I know exactly how you feel. One handle of my bag was torn and had glue marks. I sent them photos at their request and never heard back. I loved everything else but that bag is so bag RZ should be ashamed.

  6. So pissed off, I was charged full price for the box even with that GILT purchase. They haven’t replied to my email in 10 DAYS and my box has not shipped. Not a good first experience.

    • Ugh! I’m having the exact same experience. I’ve emailed 3 times in the past week with no response. I was charged 3 weeks ago and nothing has shipped or been delivered. I cancelled my subscription, but now I keep reading that they often charge people who have cancelled anyway. What a scam!!!!

      • I’m so disappointed, things like this really ruin the experience. Do they have a CS phone number? What’s up with the non replying? Not cool.

    • I guess the CS is overwhelmed with requests so it takes extra long to respond.

      I sent a message asking when my box will be shipped (after I used gilt voucher) . Then today there is a reply in my inbox, after I totally forgot about it because it’s being so long.

      • Did they say how long it would take until it’ll be shipped out? Haha I’m dying for mine to ship 🙁

  7. I’m about to cancel. The earrings were left out of my box and they still haven’t responded after over a week. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

  8. I got my box almost two weeks ago. I do like everything in it, but the Butter nail polish doesn’t work with my body chemistry and chips within an hour.

    I also ordered the extras – the candles. They’re beautiful, but one doesn’t have a wick! I contacted customer service and still haven’t heard back from them. They sure ran my card within seconds of me selecting it though. GRR. If I don’t hear back in the next couple of days I am going on Facebook and Instagram. It seems the only way to get someone to talk to you!

      • I’m pretty sure I won’t receive one. I replied to the above email and was told again to basically suck it up, not happening. Sad because it was my first experience with this box and it’s left a bad impression of them.

  15. I am very confused. I purchased the voucher from Gilt City and entered the code over a week ago. I still had to sign up as a seasonal member and give them a credit card number, but then a few days later I received an email that said my order was canceled. I went to look at my account and there were two orders, one that said canceled and the other showed the voucher payment and a balance of zero, but still says pending payment. Did this happen to anyone else? If so, is the pending one okay or do I need to worry about it? I can’t find a customer service number for them anywhere and the email I sent them 4 days ago still has not been returned. Thanks for any insight.

  16. It is leather not man made you can tell by the grains it’s leather and the feel.

    • I have no doubt it isn’t leather. It is poor quality leather. I hope it softens over time. I may use leather conditioner to protect it. I like the bag’s style for sure and the scarf looks cute tied on it but I still think it is the worst hero item Rachel Zoe has ever had.

      • That has to be the cheapest leather of all time, not to mention fabric. While it wasn’t something I would have chosen for myself, that’s why I have this sub, to try new things. I tried to take it out with me once and after carrying it into one store I was actually embarrassed because it looked like Iwas carrying a cheap bag from Shoedazzle (of which I also have many, lol, but paid $40 at most for them). Granted I primarily carry LV and Chanel so I’m accustomed to high quality leather but when my $20 SD bags are better quality than a RZ hero item, that’s concerning to me. I’m actually kind of embarrassed because of it wind I bought a BOS for my Mom. I’m positive she will feel the same as me once she handles it. I’m overall disappointed in the hero item for the first time ever since box 1. The rest of the box was fine but had no real wow factor for me. Nice earrings, polish and water bottle but not $100 nice. The scarf is really an ascot, not full scarf size, just for accuracy for those who haven’t received it yet. And it’s nice to have extra Tatcha but it will be a year before I run out of the Tatcha rice powder cleansers I already own; it’s kind of hard to get excited about that.

        • Not everyone carries such fancy bags as you lol. BTW they make great products and well made! You are peeing on everyone who works a 40 hr week making $8 to $10 hr wage that takes and places an order to love the products that they probably wouldn’t be able to get other wise as a treat for them we all deserve it! That erks me when ppl brag about what they have to sound like they are a hot topic. I’m one of the fortunate ones as you but don’t like to hear grown women looking down on everyone else. I’ll walk proud as I’m sure 100s of other women will as well!

  17. I just received my box. NO Chalice, so disappointed! I just sent them an email, It will probably take them a week to respond. I’m an annual subcriber and over 21, not sure why I did not get a Chalice……I hate this kind of crap, when your sub becomes too much work because somethings missing and you have to spend 2 weeks emailing back and forth. Why can’t they just ship everything correctly and we can just receive it and enjoy it. I mean we do our part, they sure waste little time charging us way ahead of time!

    • I agree without us there is no theim and ppl should start speaking up cause when we don’t they begin taking us for granted and that’s not good the products turn to 💩 and the service goes to 💩 too! Some ppl spend half their check to receive these boxes and they we all of us deserve to have a great well made thought of curated box not just no that will end up in the garbage can. Oh and the red zip purse is treading right now in different shapes but nonetheless its vinyl too!!!!

      • I spend a out of my tight budget to buy the box. I stopped PopSugar and only have RZ and Fab Fit Fun now. I really have to save to even be able to buy them. I have a sick baby grandson who needs a lot of medical care. So I know what you mean.

    • I do agree with you. Also, for the glass better communication from Box of Style should have been there or made the birthday a required item, etc. I ordered some as gifts and was wanting to make a donation to the cause but this is leaving me with a bad taste.

  18. I received my box today, and I was excited to see everything! My chalice did come with my box. It was included inside the same package, outside the box of style, with the two candles that I ordered. Love the candles. Awesome gifts!! The chalice is much more beautiful in person than I even thought. I really love the earrings, the nail polish, the Tatcha, which I use all the time, and I think the bag is adorable. I must agree with those who say that the strap does not feel at all like leather. I know there are different grades, but it really smells and feels like some sort of man-made material. It doesn’t scratch like leather does, and I won’t do the match test on it, because I’m afraid it will ignite like faux leather does. 🙂 That really doesn’t bother me too much, except for the fact that it is advertised as leather. From what I understand, the definition of leather doesn’t mean very much these days. It could be a material made with a little leather, but it is definitely not 100% genuine leather. I still think it’s cute, and I’m going to get lots of use out of it. If it helps anyone waiting for their box, my label was printed on March 3rd, and I received it here New Jersey on March 15th. I’m an annual subscriber. I’m so delighted with this box. I hope everyone loves hers as much as I do. #rachelrocks

    • That bag was so poorly made that I threw into a donation box for Goodwill! I expected better quality from Rachel Zoe! And yes mine had a horrible smell to the leather too! I am easy to please but that bag was cheaply made! I emailed Customer Service about this janky bag!

  21. On Tuesday I emailed customer service because my box had been sitting at FedEx since Friday. On Wednesday morning I got a text from FedEx that my box was on it’s way and an email from customer service that my box would be delivered by Friday. Was so excited when I got a text today from FedEx that my box was on it’s way. And I love everything in the box!! The purse is awesome. I do wish the opening was just a little bigger but it doesn’t stop me from loving it. Already a fan of Tatcha, the nail polish is perfect for spring I love the that the earrings can be worn different ways. And I wear scarves so this is a great unique one. I’ve got a BKR bottle already in orange but I love having more than one color. And I think the chalice is fun and is for a great cause.
    Great job Rachel Zoe and I’m happy that the shipping and customer service issues seem to be in the past. Another fantastic box and now I’m looking forward to the summer box!!

  28. Received my box today. Yay, Love It! Fav items are the earrings-much nicer in person (wearing now/super comfortable) water bottle (love that blush color) and Tatcha. Will use everything, except maybe the scarf. I thought the bag would be a little larger and it was scrunched up to fit in the box. Stuffed it with tissue to restore it.   30. I received my tracking notice on Friday but my box hasn’t moved. Is anyone else having this issue? Also, I’m a seasonal member and it seems our boxes are not shipping first as advertised on the BOS website. Really like this box just wish the shipping issues would get fixed.

    • Yes, I also got the “shipping” email on Friday but when I track it it’s still stuck on “label created.” Pretty frustrating.

      • I did not receive a shipping email, however, when I checked my FedEx, I see that my label was created on Friday the 3td. No movement since then. I guess they’re getting a bunch to ship. Can’t wait! This box looks great!

      • I contacted customer service today. December had a lot of shipping issues and I don’t want to go through that again. It could take 72 hours for a response. It’s especially frustrating because I only live about 25 miles from La Puente and I saw that someone else in the Southern CA area already received her box. Here’s hoping it ships tomorrow and we all have our boxes by weekend.

    • Was charged on March 3rd. I never received shipping info and now website says my order is “completed.” First time ordering from Rachel Zoe…was overcharged and now my box is MIA. (In fairness, the overcharge was reversed quickly. But now I have to deal with a missing package. Website says to start a claim with UPS. This is not possible without shipping info.) I’m going to cancel once I get a refund. 🙁

      • Mine order complate long before shipped out ( mine is due soon) I think it just means the billing part is complete. My shupping never turned up on the site just my e mail.
        Sorry for the weird typos my phone is possessed and won’t let me see what I type!

  31. Just got my box today. My husband ordered me this box as a surprise. I am really loving the items!

    Tribe Alive bag: The bag is really cute and a great size. I got it kinda squashed so hoping to fix it up.

    Adornmonde Earrings: I got the earrings in silver. Thank you, Liz for explaining how to wear the earrings. I originally tried them on with both parts in the front and it was very uncomfortable. Once I followed your instructions, it feels much better. I like the look a lot, and its different than anything else I have.

    Symbology Scarf: This is probably my least favorite item. I can’t see myself using the scarf a lot.

    Tatcha Cream: I have never used this cream before. I’m excited to try it tonight.

    BKR Water Bottle: Its gorgeous. I love the color and can’t wait to use it to stay hydrated.

    Butter London Nail Polish: I am loving the pink color. Very often subscription boxes have dark or bright color polish, colors I don’t wear a lot. This is definitely a color I will wear.

    I don’t really care about the bonus item, but its a bonus item so its ok.

    Final thoughts: 5 out of 6 of the items in this box I will use. I am very happy about this box.

    • The Tatcha product isn’t a cream; it’s a powdered cleanser, FYI

  34. This is such a great box!! I love that bag. Unfortunately I can’t own any white accessories because I spill.

    • I plan on using this shoe protectant spray to keep it looking nice! I got it at journeys and it works wonders- even if my shoes do get dirty, just throw them in the wash and it all comes off.

    • My glass was shipped in the same shipping box (but not inside the BOS signature black box). Thus, it was only 1 tracking number from fedex.

  38. I am fortunate enough to live just 25 miles from La Puente, CA so I received my box today. Loved every single item in the box. Tempted to buy more as gifts for my mom and sister.
    For those that were wondering, I signed up with the LUNARES code, but did not receive the jewelry holder in my box.

    • Did you sign up as an annual subscriber? I’m thinking annual subscriber may not necessarily be getting theirs first. 🙃

      • No, I had signed up just for the seasonal subscription and was a new subscriber. I had signed up a few days after the LUNARES promotion started and received an email confirmation that the promotion had applied to my order (since it did not show up in my receipt).

        • Then that proves annual subscribers aren’t getting shipped first. 🙁 Glad you got your box though, and I hope you get your jewelry holder soon. It looks pretty. 🙂

    • I got my box today, with no shipping notice and no Lunares jewelry holder. That’s half the reason I signed up for this box 🙁 I hope it’s shipping separately.

  39. I am an annual subscriber, and I have not received a shipping notification email yet. Only once have I ever received one in the past. I did receive an email for the winter box but never before that. I just checked My FedEx, and it looks like a shipping label was printed yesterday, 3/3, from LA Puente, CA. So excited to get this box!

  40. Omg I just bought the box! First, the bag was a maybe, then the earrings was a possibly, then the face scrub made me head over to the website!! I did not like the other boxes enough but this was a good one with the chalice and bag giving back to the community too! I hope next box is as great.

  42. I love this sub. This is my second box and I love that they give you the option to select an item style with each box.
    In addition they had two add on items very nice candles for the spring box however once I selected the add ons to be added to my box something went wrong and my order failed. By the time customer service looked into it they were all sold out 🙁
    In addition I am getting the chalice as well and it was listed as a separate item in my shipping invoice but March is my Birthday month so I am unsure if everyone is getting this item.
    This sub is definitely worth the money and the wait. I plan on keeping this subscription in the future. Rachel Zoe has an amazing taste and style and I love how they collaborate to create items specifically for their subscribers. WIN!

    • I agree. This sub feels like they spend a lot of time and careful prep to give the overall box a great feeling! I really like this sub. I still get rave compliments over the necklace from Winter Box 2016.

    • It ships from LA California via FedEx and yes they do send shipment confirmation email once the box ships. I am getting mine in just a few days and I can’t wait!
      I am subscribed to the Zoe Reports and recently she featured awesome boots by Kurt Geiger (white Strut) so a I purchased them from France and they just arrived. They will be great with their weekender warrior bag. I can’t wait to rock them with this bag!

        • Cindy, I was anxiously checking their website because mine hasn’t shipped yet either. Their FAQ page says that it ships from oldest subscriber to newest. So we are probably at the bottom of their list. 😉 Just FYI, they use FedEx SmartPost. I’m on the east coast – it takes 1-2 weeks to get here, so even once you get the notice, it’s still a bit of a wait.

  44. I haven’t received any shipping notification email.. or an email to confirm my age for the glass.

    Wondering if I should be concerned or not.

    Anyone else have this issue? This subscription was a gift, so the first one went to my mom- she said she never got an email when it shipped.

    • I just got my shipping email last night. This is my second box. I never received the email confirming that I’m over 21 but I’m still getting the glass.

  45. I’ve never felt the need to subscribe to this box before this review!! I was already looking for a new spring purse and I love this one! The fact that this box also includes 2 of my favorite brands, Tatcha and Butter London, just sealed the deal for me. With the Spring10 code it came down to $89, which is what I’m willing to pay for a really nice purse anyway, the rest is a great bonus!

    • Just got my shipping notice and I’m a new sub and subbed February 20th. Not sure if that helps but I was concerned it would be weeks for new subscribers according to the site. If you just ordered since the reveal it may take a bit bc everyone seems to be loving the box and I’m sure there’s been a bunch of new orders.

      • Interesting. I’ve been subscriber for awhile so I wonder what is going on. I might have to email them to make sure they didn’t forget about me!
