Fanmail-January-2017-0004

The information card features a quote from Oliver Queen because the theme for January is "Legends of CW". I love CW shows, past and present, so this theme is right up my alley!

Fanmail-January-2017-0005

One of my favorite things about FanMail is that the information card includes tons of suggestions for tv, movies, books, and comics. Some of my personal favorites are on this list and I jotted down a few new things to check out.

Exclusive Luke's Diner Gilmore Girls Coffee Cup Sleeve - Value $2?

As an avid Gilmore fan, I already have a Luke’s Diner mug and travel mug. I didn’t have a coffee cup sleeve so now my collection is complete! Coffee is basically a character on the show so this is a nice piece of the Gilmore world to have. I also love it when cute items are practical and this is something I can use in my everyday life.

Exclusive Superhero Fight Club Shirt by Winnie Gong - Value $15?

The shirt for this box feature two legends from the CW, Supergirl and The Flash. This is in reference to her induction into the superhero fight club. I love the details on this shirt, including the date, place, and time of the fight club. It also says the fight club is brought to you by “CC Jitters & CATCO Worldwide Media”. I love the illustration of the characters and I don’t really have any merch from these fandoms so I’m very happy with this item!

Exclusive “Legends of the CW” 2017 Calendar Designed by Winnie Gong - Value $8?

The calendar is also designed by Winnie Gong and I love it as much as the shirt! Every month features a different show and this is one of the items that dives into CW history by including WB shows. They really touched on all the hits - Veronica Mars, Charmed, The Vampire Diaries, Buffy, etc. This is a nice little desk calendar and I ended up using a hole punch on it so I can hang it on my bulletin board. This also inspired me to revisit some of my favorite shows.

Exclusive “The Talon” Smallville Coaster - Value $2?

Smallville is one of the shows this box makes me want to revisit. The Talon was basically the Peach Pit of Smallville. I love TV shows where there is one hangout that serves a million purposes. I think The Talon was a coffee shop, maybe a movie theater, and an apartment that most characters lived in at some point. As The Talon is mainly a coffee shop, this coaster fits right in and is a fun little homage to a classic superhero show.

Winchester Bros. Business Card - Value $1?

I can’t believe Supernatural is currently on season 12! I love Supernatural and this business card made me laugh. It’s a Sam & Dean Winchester business card listing their occupation (Demon Hunters) and motto (Serving people. Hunting things. The family business.). This also has Dean’s cell phone number listed. When this number was first mentioned, you could call it and hear a message from Dean. I was curious if this number was still in commission, but unfortunately, you don’t get to hear Dean on the other end - just some annoying beeping. It was worth a shot!

Exclusive “The Chosen One” Buffy Nail Wraps by Espionage Cosmetics - Value $12

Buffy is in my top three favorite shows (The X-files and Dr Who if you’re curious) so I will gladly take anything Buffy related. These nail wraps contain clear application instructions - including a video tutorial. I loved the reference filled blurb on the inside and the design features a spooky black and red sky against a cemetery. The pinkie and thumb also have a Claddagh ring design (Gahhh Angel! Heartbreak!). The application wasn’t too hard and they do give you a few extra for sizing or, in my case, mistakes. While it was relatively easy to apply, I know I’m not skilled enough to do a whole set at once so I’ve been using this on accent fingers while painting the rest of my nails dark maroon or black. They’re really cute and I can stretch their wear time a little bit with this method.

Exclusive “Supernatural” Planner Sticker Set - Value $5?

We have another Supernatural item in the box and it’s planner stickers. This is a Fanmail exclusive and includes two sheets of stickers. They cover all the important Supernatural symbols like the Impala, plaid, pie, wings, and some quotes. I loved the Tuesday stickers which are a reference to Mystery Spot - the episode where Sam and Dean are stuck reliving a Tuesday over and over until Sam can confront the Trickster. This is one of the episodes that really sticks out in my mind so I appreciate the reference. And these would be good planner stickers for a slightly boring, repetitive task you have to do!

FanMail Sticker

This item wasn't listed on the information card but they included a FanMail sticker. This features their image of a dragon wrapped around a box.

Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge Coaster

Another little bonus item was this coaster. It advertises Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge, described by Amazon as:

In this sharp and funny urban fantasy novel, booze is magic, demons are real, and millennial Bailey Chen joins a band of monster-fighting Chicago bartenders instead of finding a “real” post-college job.

The back of the coaster also features the recipe to make a Screwdriver. The reviews for this book are pretty good so I might have to check this out!

Vampire Stalkers Mystic Falls Tour

The last bonus item was this pamphlet with information about the Mystic Falls tour in Georgia. This tour was created with the collaborative support of Ian Somerhalder so if you're a fan of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, this tour might be a hit with you!

Verdict: FanMail is a fun box and this month was a perfect theme for me. Between the shirt, nail wraps, and other items I think the cost of the box is covered. I always enjoy boxes that include references to things I love but also includes usable items. This month definitely melded those two requirements well and I’m excited to use everything in the box! If FanMail hits a fandom you enjoy, I think you get a nice variety of items that fulfill your fan needs. This month was a big hit for me and I love that they always include a list of shows, movies, and books to check out. The sneak peak for February mentions sidekick characters from Dr Who, Star Wars, Pokemon, etc so I can’t wait to see what’s to come!
