Avenue A by Adidas Subscription Box Review – Spring 2017

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. If you buy something, MSA may earn a commission. Read the full disclosure.

Avenue A by Adidas is a quarterly fitness and running subscription box. Every season they send subscribers at least 3 premium fitness items, (most will be sized).

If you are looking for a fitness/workout-gear box – I can’t recommend this one enough. I’m thrilled with the value of these boxes so far!

This box was sent to us early for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Each box has a unique print, too!

The Subscription Box: Avenue A by Adidas Box

The Cost: $150

The Products: Every Avenue A box is filled with at least 3 premium items (mix of shoes, apparel and accessories) selected by celebrity curators who exemplify style, fitness and performance.

Ships every 3 months

Check out all of our Avenue A by Adidas Box reviews!

Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

The Spring Box is curated by Hannah Bronfman.

And Hannah included Style Tips for wearing each item:

Now, onto the items!

Adidas Pureboost Running Shoes – Value $130

Adidas included these shoes in a different colorway in the first Avenue A box. They are probably my favorite Adidas shoe to date, so I was thrilled to see them in another color for this box!

And the grey-on-grey color scheme is lovely, too!

The dark grey parts of the shoe are a breathable mesh fabric to improve ventilation.

This shoe has a floating arch that molds to the shape of your foot and provides support.

I’m a size 9 in sneakers, and I found that these run true to size.

And the middle grey section is actually a subtle silver metallic.

Adidas Ultimate Long Tights – Value $90

This running tight is made with moisture-wicking climalite fabric with breathable mesh panels.

I love wearing black clothing (for workouts and just life in general) so this mesh paneling legging is a perfect way for me to stay in my color comfort zone, while still mixing things up a bit!

It has a thick waistband that stays in place well:

There’s even a little message for you inside the waistband:

And there’s a pocket for a key, too.

Adidas Micro Camo Print Bra – Value $30

I love the static print of this sports bra, and it’s another interesting take on a basic black sports bra.

This bra is made with the same climalite wicking fabric as the leggings, but it’s completely lined! It has medium support and is really comfortable, too.

Comfort Cover Up Top – Value $70

This open hoodie is made with a medium-weight french terry (95% cotton, 5% spandex), and it is my new favorite layering piece!

It’s designed to run long, so you get extra coverage!

It has pockets on both sides, and the left-hand pocket has a second pocket inside the big pocket (it fit my phone perfectly.)

Adidas by Stella McCartney Small Gym Bag – Value $135

This bag is amazing! The zipper in the bottom black portion is for storing shoes.

It has a detachable shoulder strap.

And great news about the white fabric! It’s a laser cut nylon that should hold up well to dirt (compared to a canvas finish, for example).

The Stella McCartney gunmetal silver logo plaque is front and center.

And inside the bag is lined in Stella fabric, with multiple pockets, included a protective laptop compartment!

Here is everything on:

And here is a better look at the mesh panels on the tights:

Good news for me – the mesh panels aren’t too revealing at all!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $455! WOW!! I think this is my favorite Avenue A box, yet. The value is incredible, and all items are super wearable for me (while still being unique). What do you think of the Avenue A by Adidas Spring Box?

  1. Hated the last box and have no regrets about putting my subscription on hold for the winter box. This one I adore! Only thing I will not wear is the sports bra but that is because I have only one style that I will wear. No complaints about this box in the least. Can’t wait for it to show up- getting impatient waiting for the shipping notice!

  2. Not a fan of the jacket, and I can’t wear most sports bras (why can’t big name athletic brands make something that will fit a large bust/small ribcage??!!), but everything is is awesome!! Super excited about the shoes and the leggings the most.

    • Exactly!! I’m a 30DD and it’s difficult to find a sports bra that fits and supports. Under Armour has one zip up high impact style I can wear. Adidas has a low impact style that works. This bra is so cute, I hope it works. I’ve been on the fence this sub on the S/M for the bra.

    • Agree that I wish there was better sports bra sizing available. As a 32H it is hard enough to find bras let alone a comfortable, supportive sports bra.

      • I know how you feel. I’m a 32H and finding sports bras that fit is close to impossible. Where do you find yours? What brands?

        • It’s spendy, but I swear by Panache sports bras (32F here). Silicone-wrapped underwire, wide straps, sweat-wicking materials. I think they go up to a J cup size. They sell them at Nordstrom or Bare Necessities.

          • Thanks for the info. Will have to check Panache out at Nordstroms.

      • I hear you ladies.. 32 E/F here…. the struggle is REAL

    • Jesus. I feel your pain. 32F and I work out 5 days a week. And just bras. Period.

    • Yes! The hardest part about being a DD is that most companies start at a 40 or 42 which is way to big for me. That’s why sports bras are so hard to find. I need a larger cup, but smaller width in the diaphragm. I am usually left with either over pour, underboob, or straps that keep falling off. It’s miserable. 😩

  3. Thanks Liz!!! I just can’t wait for my box to come!!!!! I love everything (well… not exact on the hoodie but I might change mind when I see it in person), it’s just far much better than the Winter box, it’s more “normal” or “average” people would wear. I’m so glad I ordered this box as my own birthday gift (er… one of the gifts I got for myself).

    • Yes, this is a great box and such a hit compared to the winter box. I agree, it’s more universally appealing.

  4. Oh this is slam dunk for me. I can’t wait. And Liz, you look awesome in the outfit!

  5. I. Can’t. Wait!!!!!!!

  6. Yay so happy I signed up! The only thing I don’t love is the hoodie (the color and lack of zipper), but maybe I’ll like it more when it arrives. I love he print on the bra.

I didn’t get Winter, but I would’ve been happy with that one too. It still bothers me a little that I missed out on the Banned from Normal hoodie.

    • Hey Debbie! I still have some of the items from the winter box (Banned from Normal Hoodie and Leggings) is you are interested? I have the tights in M and the hoodie in both L or S. BNWT.

      • I would love the M tights and S hoodie! Please let me know

        • Hey;
I have a XS/Small hoodie- never fit me; I’m an XS and it’s too big for me.

Would you be interested in it?

      • I would be interested in the M leggings and a S or M hoodie!

I’m trying to add my swap profile link, just not sure if I’m doing it correctly 😉

      • I have been trying to get the small hoodie forever I waited too long to send my medium back 😢 If you don’t swap it with anyone please let me know I would definitely be interested. Thanks!

    • I also have a ‘Banned From Normal’ hoodie fromy the previous box, in size XL if anyone is still looking!

      • Iam interested in the xL hoodie.

    • I also have the leggings in Medium and hoodie in Medium with all tags still on! Never got around to swapping!

      • Hey Emily! I’m definitely interested in the Banned from Normal leggings & hoodie 😊 Just click on my name to link to my swap profile- thanks!

  7. Wish they had full spoilers earlier on so that I would have felt more comfortable continuing the sub for spring. I’m sad I missed out on these items cuz they seem very versatile and useful for gym workouts etc (esp compared to previous boxes) but I suppose it’s $150 saved for me that I’ll get to spend on the next box. At the moment it definitely feels too much like a gamble every time (and $150 is more than I feel comfortable gambling). And, with their products and service being so hit or miss for so many subscribers, I think I’ll continue to opt out unless I know exactly what’s in each box.

    • I agree. With $150 i can buy 2-4 things i KNOW ill love. This box would have been a hit for me 😠🤓 i know this because yesterday i bought some speckled gray pure boosts ($70 DSW + kenith cole black running shoes for $30) and leggings ([email protected] burlington) =$112, still on the hunt for new gym bag 😢. The sports bra and sweater im not in love with, but still would use.
So although THIS bag happened to have things i want, there was no way of knowing that, and not a risk im willing to take w/o spoilers)
Will sit summer out as well since summer gear is usually even less expensive, and i doubt they will repeat “good” running shoes and gym bag staples.
Thinking sandals, shorts, sports bra, rain jacket, tech gear (they havent done wirless headphones???)
Maybe they will jumpnon the spouler bandwagon and ill be in for fall 😀

      • Wireless headphones would be amazing- especially ones designed for something like running!

      • Dang, I was going to skip summer because I don’t wear shorts for running, even in summer but now the thought of all other items you listed and now I just don’t know. I love the sports bras, sandals would be great, rain jacket – yes, please, tech gear – double yes. Wireless headphones? Even the faint possibility is enough to make me not skip. I could easily sell/swap the shorts.

      • Agreed. If I bought separately only the items I wanted, shoes and leggings, it’s easily under $150. Never would use a white bag, and even though it would probably be easy to swap or sell it’s bulky to ship. Glad that was the spoiler, easier to skip and save the $ for the next one.

      • I agree with you, that it would be great if they released FULL spoilers before release. Even though it’s filled with value, it is my most expensive subscription box, and I think there are people who would like to know what they’re buying.

  8. Can hardly wait for my box to arrive. Happy to get the Stella bag and am really pleased with the entire box. Adidas box keeps getting better and better. Thank you Adidas!

  9. Love it!!

  10. I want that bag!!!! 💕💕💕💕

    • I am willing to sell mine if you are interested…. I have a plethora of bags and do not need another!

  11. So. Excited. Yes yes yes yes YES!!!! I originally subscribed for winter and then absolutely hated it and somehow got them to let me return the whole box. Resubbed after bag and shoe spoilers, and couldn’t be happier. I knew Hannah’s style was more me so was hopeful I would like the whole box and I definitely do 🙂

  12. Please ship to Canada soon! I would’ve loved to have received this box.

  13. This is my fourth box and I a month so happy I decided to buy a second box when the shoe spoiler came out. Will keep bothe shoes and both leggings, still have 3 extra items for gifts. I almost passed out when I saw this review.

  14. That is one of the nicest hoodies I’ve seen, and I would like to keep it.However, this is not a color that looks any good on me. What is their return policy like for colors?

    • You can only exchange the size, not the color I believe.

  15. Nothing super crazy exciting or unexpected with this box but everything is wearable so no loss there. I thought for sure that the curation would be more animated than this but again, totally wearable. All the basics it’s like a 180 from Rita’s box.

  16. Really regretting that I didn’t buy this 🤦🏽‍♀️

  17. Where are you seeing shipping info? I can see that I was billed, but I can’t find a shipping/ tracking screen…? Thx!

    • Emily,

Twice already I was billed and my box came without shipping info.

    • I got an email Friday saying it was shipped and wold be arriving within 2-3 days. When I checked the tracking number, Fed Ex says it won’t be here until Monday 2/27 which is 10 days after they said it was “shipped”. So…….sometime before March it should arrive 🙁

    • I’ve been wondering where to find it as well… This is my 3rd box and I’ve never been sent tracking info, nor can I find it on my account page.

      • Neither do – the box always shows up unexpectedly.

  18. Sigh. I want this box but it’s sold out!!! How quickly will the summer box sell out? It’s hard to drop $150 and not get a box for a few months!!

    • The money doesn’t come out until the month you get the box.

    • I signed up after I missed out on the winter box. I didn’t get billed until a couple weeks ago. Hope that helps.

    • They don’t charge until a few weeks prior to shipping. You don’t have money tied up long. You can sub now.

  19. YAY, I’ve been refreshing all day for spoilers/review. I ended up ordering 2 (one for my sister) and I’m so happy with the functionality and color scheme.

    • lol! i’ve been dying for a review too and have been doing the same! Super happy with the contents. Now.. waiting til Friday according to shipping. 🙂

  20. I am so mad i didnt sign up for this box before it sold out 🙁 i didnt like the winter box at all, so i was kinda afraid to sign up. I would love to have had that hoodie. Sadness.

  21. I’ve never regretted cancelling a box so much. I was trying to be good and it bit me in the backside! If anyone is selling any pieces in 7.5 – m/l/xl pleaseeeee let me know!!!

    • probably selling my shoes in 7.5! will let you know when i receive them

    • I would be willing to sell the tights (xl). Tags still ob, only tried on once, they are just not my style. Let me know!

  22. I’m so excited for my box to arrive Thursday! I keep checking and watching it move across the country from SC to CA…ugh, faster! I am now thinking the gym bag may be a great diaper bag for my boys since I work out from home. And I’m SO excited for the grey shoes since I put my sub on hold for winter after seeing the curator (so glad I did). I’ve tried to swap for the winter shoes unsuccessfully, but these are great too. Also, a no-zip hoodie is perfect for holding my little guy (baby) to not scratch him.

  23. Obsessed

  24. I wish i would of subscribed just for that jacket..i love it.

    • I thought the same thing.

  25. Love this, The hoodie will be great since we don’t get real cold on SC, I plan on wearing it all the time.

  26. This is super-impressive! Glad I stuck around even though the winter box wasn’t my taste.

  27. Ehhh… I’m neutral about this box. I subscribed based on the winter 2016 box. I loved everything in that box and I wish I would have subscribed sooner. This box is just okay. I’ll probably only wear the hoodie and shoes.

    • Oh and the tights.

  28. Great box! I should have subscribed but was nervous after the last one. Since I’m not one for running shorts I will be sitting out the next box as well.

  29. The front of the info card states “Winter 2016”. Is that a typo/mistake by Avenue A or is the first pic just old? All the other pages are correct.

    • Good catch. The card is new so it must be a typo/mistake by Avenue A.

    • I’ve been wondering about that too! Like silly proofreading.

  30. I LOVED the winter box; it was why I signed up for the spring box. I am happy with this curation and can definitely see that it’s a “safer” play and will appeal to a wider demographic… but I hope that Avenue A continues to deliver unique and fearless style!

    • IKR?! I Love the winter box so much! I get compliments and people usually ask me where I got the Rita items. Everyone at my office got boxes too because of it. I don’t understand why people are bashing the winter box, when we got 2 shoes which is over 150 already.

      • I ❤️ the winter box! You are right though, the shoes alone were worth the price of the box! My tights are my favorite, I don’t swap but if anyone has a medium that they are looking to unload, I am definitely interested!

    • I loved the winter box too, even though I’m over 50 (not their demographic!). I thought the hoodie was fantastic, loved the shoes (even if a bit big) and the mesh tank top makes the black tank from the Fall box wearable. I wasn’t super excited about the Fall box but I’ve worn everything and the white hoodie, while strangely big, is pretty great for cold weather running and the shoes are my favorites for wearing around town.

I’ve learned to just trust Adidas (although I’m torn on summer – I draw the line at short-shorts!).

      • I agree – I’ve NEVER worn the shorts from the Summer ’16 box, but I loved the slides and the top, and the Adidas SmartFIT was amazing!! I had a teething puppy at the time who got a hold of it, though, and I was so sad that mine got ruined :'(!! I’m really hoping for another wearable tech for summer. I LOVE the white hoodie and the black shoes from Fall, I wear them all the time, and the although the Winter hoodie is crazy comfy, I haven’t worn it much . . . because I’m always wearing the white hoodie, lol! I get compliments on the white Superstar shoes from the Rita Ora box, and even though I would never have bought them myself, they look cute with some cuffed jeans or a casual skirt.

  31. I kind of like this box. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I like the shoes, I like the tights, but the hoodie is ok, and the bag, is just not for me (but only because I’m picky, I prefer backpacks). Looking forward to the summer box.

  32. really wish I could have got in on this box but when I went to it was sold out Argh

  33. Wow! This is a fabulous box! I really wish I was a subscriber!!!!! Looks like it isn’t available. Some of the other boxes have really scared me from subscribing – but if every box was this wearable and desirable – I’d be in!!! I wish they had done more spoilers on this one!!!!!

    • They did. The bag and shoes.

  34. If we subscribe now, could we still get this box?

    • Based on their site messaging, it looks like if you subscribe now you’ll get the Summer Box as your first box. Hope that helps!

      • Liz, do you think the bag will hold up to the dirt of a Crossfit gym?

        • I have to admit I’ve never been in a Crossfit gym! While I think you should be able to brush off/wipe off any random dirt on the bag, it’s not like a plastic material that you can spill something on and it will just run off … so I’m a little cautious to say yes.

          Hope that helps a bit!

  35. Does anyone know if these shoes are okay for over pronators? I wanted to get this box but didn’t know if the shoes would be good for me.

    • It’s a neutral shoe Regina, so if you pronate a lot it won’t work for you.

    • Regina–I think it depends how much you over-pronate. If you’re used to a stability shoe, these likely won’t provide enough support. Adidas makes a great line of stability shoes (the supernova sequence), which correct over-pronation but aren’t too heavy. They’re my favorite running shoes on the market. Sadly, they are not available as an option in the subscription. I wish they’d include it as an upgrade-option for an additional fee.

  36. I didn’t sign up for this box, in part because of the bag- I still have the last one and I haven’t used it. Recently I’ve had an issue with their tights, they tend to be see through when squatting and I don’t want to flash people. I wanted the sneakers though, and could definitely use another hoodie.

    • Are you looking to trade the black Stella M bag?

      • Been thinking of selling it, but need to settle on a price. I wanted to keep it, because it’s a beautiful bag- but I’m just not using it!

  37. I so can’t wait to get my box! I fell in love with the sneak peak at the sneakers and since they basically pay for the box, the rest is icing, and what amazing icing it is! I keep checking for shipping info, nothing so far, but this is worth the wait!!!

  38. Love this! Is there a zipper on the hoodie or can it only be worn open?

    • No zipper, just worn open. Hope that helps!

      • Thanks! I probably won’t wear it for working out (if it’s cold enough for a jacket I’ll want one that closes) but it looks pretty cute so I’m still looking forward to the box.

  39. 😍 In LOVE with this box! So glad I resubscribed!

  40. So glad I subscribed! I can’t wait to get it.

  41. Yes! Love everything. I can totally see Hannah Bronfman curating these items. I was on the UA website today looking to buy a new bra and top. So glad I didn’t hit the purchase button. Everything here is totally me.

  42. Wow! Everything is awesome! I can’t hardly wait for my box ..

  43. Sooo much better than the winter box, which I am still scarred from 🙂

  44. This box looks amazing. So happy that I signed up. My only concern with shoes that this arch looks hollow, and I am afraid that a lot of dirt will be stuck there. I am an outside runner and hiker (in CA I prefer to hike wearing sneakers because of dryness). Also, I like to run on the beach, would wet sand be stuck in this arch as well? Other then that, I will wear every single item from this box.
P.S. I bought winter box from one of MSA member, and it was such a hit for me as well. Gray shoes were good present to my husband and I got a lot of compliments on hoodie. Love it.

    • I use these sneakers for mainly the treadmill, so I’m not going to be too much help with your question about dirt/sand getting stuck beneath the arch. The good news is that I can easily stick my finger underneath the arch, so if some dirt/sand does get under the arch, you can clean it. Hope that helps a little!

      • Liz, thank you so much for the information. I guess this shoes has to be my indoor or pavement work out only.

      • I had the same concerns with my first pair. However, I run in the West Texas sand and dirt and they’ve been fine. The gap between the sole and the shoe is flexible enough to open a tad and shake dust out if your feet get completely sunk in sand or dirt. These are also great hiking shoes because they flex with your feet. I’m not a serious hiker, but climbing up and down rock hasn’t been a problem. The white foam gets dirty, but I’ve had luck with wiping it off with water and a mild soap. These are truly the most versitle pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. Love them!

        • That’s so great to hear! Thank you so much for letting us know! 🙂

  45. Wish I had ordered 2!!

  46. Ahh love everything! Really chic curation. That rust red hoodie is lovely.

Liz, does the bra have removable cups? I can’t stand nipping through my bras.

    • No cups, just lined. Hope that helps!

  47. I missed the first box, so really excited for these shoes and the bag.
I can’t wait to get mine! I really like the hoodie too!

  48. ❤️❤️❤️

  49. Yay!
I can’t wait to get my box! I’m so excited for the shoes! That style is my absolute favorite!
    And the bag 😍

    Love Avenue A!

    • It’s such a great box! I want to live in this hoodie 🙂

  50. Love it! Totally makes up for the last flop of a box.
