The Bookish Box is a book-inspired subscription box from the online shop, Appraising Pages.

Unlike other book boxes, this one doesn't come with a book. Instead, it's filled with non-book items aimed at literature lovers. Items include a t-shirt, bookmarks, and other goodies for those who like to read.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This review is of the Women's Sized, $29.99 a month, box.

Every box has a theme. This month's theme is "Yule Ball". Oh yes, Harry Potter fans. This box is putting a wizardly spin on holiday fun!

All of the items are listed on the back of the card. They shout out the makers of the items, too, which I like. If I dig something in the box, I can look up the company and nab something similar for a fellow fan!

Weird Sisters Travel Mug by Drop & Give Me Nerdy - Listed Value $12.00

This mug nods to the Yule Ball in the coolest way possible—with a Weird Sisters "1994" design that looks like it could've been a concert poster.

The mug design is pretty simple. My only complaint is that the screw-on hard plastic lid doesn't have a stopper for the opening, which is bad news for a klutz like me.

Drop & Give Me Nerdy makes a lot of ceramic mugs, but I kind of like that the one included here is plastic. Again, I'm a bit of a klutz, and it's less likely I'll break this plastic travel mug!

Christmas in the Great Hall Candle by Whiskey Diamond Candle, Co. - Listed Value $6.50

I love, love, LOVE candles, especially in winter. And I was instantly intrigued by the scents listed on the label of this candle tin: pine, green apples, and fireplace embers. It sounds amazing!

I love the Harry Potter font on the label, too!

The candle itself is icy blue with—get this—GLITTER all through it! That twinkle definitely brings the magic. The fragrance is a lovely mix of every classic holiday scent in one. It smells like a cozy living room at the holidays, with a fire roaring and a tree in the corner.

Whiskey Diamond Candle, Co. included a bookmark with some info about their store and a passage about the Yule Ball!

Enamel Pin by Jar of Buttons - Listed Value $10.00

I've been starting to grow my collection of enamel pins, so I was happy to see this little trinket in the box. It's colorful and pretty intricate as enamel pins go. I can't wait to pop it on the pocket of my backpack!

LexyOlivia Bookmark - Value $8.00?

This item doesn't come with a listed price, but similar bookmarks in LexyOlivia's shop typically go for $8.00.

It feels like it's made of sophisticated, thick art paper for watercolors. It has a bit of texture to it, which I like. And I LOVE the handmade quality.

The Dumbledore quote is lovely, as are the dreamy drawings of indigo snowflakes and dreamy blue clouds.

Appraising Pages T-Shirt - Listed Value $28.00

Other Appraising Pages shirt designs are usually $20.00 on their site. I wonder if this one is an exclusive holiday design, which would justify the higher listed price.

I love the shiny gold ink and the comfy cotton shirt. What a fun way to show off your HP fandom during the holiday season!

Verdict: I enjoyed this holiday Bookish Box! The value of the items altogether is about $65.00, which is more than double the $29.99 price tag. The products expressed unique, fun interpretations of the theme—these items were all a little different from the kind of Harry Potter merchandise I've seen in stores. What a fun way to ring in the holidays!

Not sure anyone will see this, maybe Liz will? But Appraising pages aka the bookish box, have another one time purchase box for Alice in Wonderland, just grabbed one! Really excited.

That pin is adorable! <3

Does anyone have any spoilers or hints about what might be in the Sherlock One-Time Box on the Appraising Pages website?
